For the last 6 months i have had this tickle in the back of my throat.. it come out of nowhere and don't stop until i throw up from coughing..it'll last for a couple weeks and then nothing for the next couple weeks...not being able to stand it anymore..i went to en ENT..he scoped me and said i have acid reflux..huh?? i don't ever feel like heart burn or any chestpain..the pills don't help and it's still weeks bothering me and weeks not...HELP !
She has had a cough that has lasts since august 1 and has been in and out of doctors and still cant find out whats the matter with her? She coughs at any time of the day and its followed with her throwing up. Thay have tested her for acid refux, astma, had a cat scan, and xrays of her lungs. Still nothing they keep putting her on alot of meds, and nothing has worked. Neither of them are getting any sleep because she is up all night. Its even affecting her at school.
Actually a tickling at the back of the throat (acid throwing up and then trickling down), throat closing up, gasping and all opening up again can be due to reflux. You raise the head end of bed while sleeping and see if it helps with early morning choking.
The other possibility is gelastic seizures. These are seizure triggered by laughing and include fainting, shaking, stony appearance, head falling back, proper seizures etc. You need to consult a neurologist regarding this.
I would recommend you discus acid reflux with your doctor. There is a type of acid reflux (larygealpharyngeal reflux) that does not cause the typical acid reflux symptoms of heart burn. The acid refluxes higher into the laryngx, pharynx and even the sinuses where it can cause laryngitis, sinus infections, and chronic cough along with a number of other issues.
There are many other causes of chronic cough to investigate, but after allergies acid reflux is one of the leading causes.
I am pregnant therefore I have acid reflux or gerd. I was so thankful to come upon this issue while on google! I have always, well since I was about 16, seemed to spit up blood after vomiting. I was just wondering if anyone has the reason this occurs after the 3 years since this question was first asked? When I vomit I do strain alot and dry-heave. I do not actually throw the blood up but the blood always occurs after vomiting...while I spit.
2 months into the pregnancy I started coughing. The coughing got so bad I would end up vomiting. Soon after I had trouble breathing. After seeing my doctor several times and having several breathing tests done all my test results were normal, so my doctor sent me to a Pulmonologist. His conclusion was that I had developed asthma and put me on several different medications assuring me they were all safe for the baby.

green and yellow flem should not be coming up from allergy unless it is stomach acid. Usually allergy is clear mucus. I'm not a doctor but I wonder if it is a bacteria infection. Sorry I don't know the correct answer. Maybe the doctors are correct too. I just personally haven't heard of colored mucus from allergy. Allergy can cause mucus that can lead to bacteria infection too. See another doctor.
Elevating the head of your bed could also help if it is acid reflux. Coughing when lying down can also be a symptom of congestive heart failure. When I was undiagnosed with sleep apnea, I would awaken in a violent coughing fit like something had gone down the wrong way, and in retrospect realize those were likely times when my breathing stopped and had struggled to resume. Have you been seen by a doctor for this?
It sounds like you may be suffering from LPR - its a type of reflux that affects the upper respiratory system - causing mucous to come up, coughing fits, one sided ear and sinus pain, etc. Please look it up, much of what you are talking about sounds like that (as I am guessing you have ruled out things like asthma, etc.?).
The usual treatment is a PPI like Nexium twice a day and allergy type medications.
What do you ladies take for acid reflux? I'm 31 weeks and a few days and the past three weeks I've been waking up from a dead sleep vomiting from acid reflux. It gets up into my nose. The lining of my throat is burning. I have a cold right now too and asthma so vomiting and coughing is literally killing my throat. I just woke up from sleeping and threw up so badly I peed my pants. I'm so over this. I cant have Zantac because I'm super allergic.
Has anyone ever had constant coughing with acid reflux? I have had this constant cough for 3 years and I was just diagnosed with acid reflux and non acid reflux and asthma. I have no heartburn at all but I do have hoarseness.

dry irritating cough plus when im asleep my chest is that rattly it wakes me up..just stopped drinking coffee and use decaf t.bags..slight improvement just going through tests to see if its acid reflux causing the irritation..so really thinking about changing my diet ...had camera down nose and chest xray both were clear..driving me bonkers had it for over a year now..been prescribed with omeprazole and gaviscon ...lets see how it goes ..
I had a dry and itching throat, so it makes me coughing for about 3 weeks, what should I do?
I have been coughing up phlegm daily for around 7 years. I've tried antibiotics several times without any success. I've had x-rays and mri scans but nothing showed up. Around 18 months ago my voice started to change. I was then prescribed omeprazole 20 mg capsules which make a slight difference and my voice returned to normal. But I still have to tap my chest and often have to get someone to hit my back to dislodge the phlegm which is milky white/ beige globules and quite a lot of it.
