Coughing sounds like

Common Questions and Answers about Coughing sounds like

coughing

It sounds like night time asthma to me. But it could be other things like GERD. I would certainly get him checked out with the doctor, so he can get the right treatment, and you get your nights back.
You can google it to know what it sounds like.....I can't describe it....It kinda sounds like all the above, dammit!!! ;) Although it sounds awful, it's really harmless.....Lots of dogs do it their whole life... Then of course, Heart worm Disease will cause a cough....Also will show an enlarged heart....Will be seen on an x ray....Can be ruled out with a blood test... Oops.....I just thought of another one...Post Nasal Drip will cause a cough...
To me it sounds like maybe an allergy problem - you may want to try some type of allergy medication - but of course, please check with your doctor or pharmacist before starting any new medication, especially if you are already under a doctor's care for anything. For non-medicinal help, you can try sucking on some hard candy - or even something like a hall's cough drop.
Welcome to the forum......Since you didn't add much information or his age, here goes: OK, For starters, for any Senior Dog IMO, you DO need to rule out Heart Problems....The x-ray will not only show the heart, but also the lungs...This is important.... With Heart Disease, the weak heart cannot pump as well...Fluid builds into the lungs causing the cough..The cough is usually MOIST like they're choking on congestion...Actually, they are...
My 5 year old miniature schnauzer is 5 years old. She has started coughing and is becoming more frequent. It is almost a panting cough? She also has a bad odor. Which has been going on for a month or two.(odor). I have listened to her chest with a stethescope and she is breathing fast and it sounds thick and dry. I thoguht it was maybe just a case of dust because we mulched leaves (oak and pecan) and we didn't have a bag on the mower and it got pretty dusty. Now I don't think that is it.
I have a5 month old baby boy, for the past 3 days he has had a bad cough and keeps coughing up phlegm trouble is he keeps swallowing it. He has had me up every night and it sounds like a barking cough and he gets so upset. Tried nose drops, menthol rub on his chest, calpol,. The doctor said his chest was clear and it was all up top but really worried still as he is so upset by all this.
Sounds like you might have a mild case of allergy related athsma. Try taking an allergy medicine for a week and see if that helps. It doesn't sound like you have any mucus, so the cold medicines wouldn't work. My children have allergy related athsma. They rattle when they sleep and mostly just when sleeping or exercising. They also have a cough. I even had one child who always sounded like her nose was stuffy and had bad breath, that went away with the allergy medicine.
I don't cough anymore like I used to, every 5-10 minutes, but when I cough now it's sounds like I have a lot of mucous, that I can't bring up and spit out. I also got chest x-rays and they came back normal. I'm so scare that I have something else and no one can't see it and I don't want to suffer from phuemonia or something else. What is scaring also is when I can't breath after coughing alot. I know it's not a sinus infection. I've taken an allergy pill as well.
I met with my second NS, i found this group in Dallas, he ordered a flow study to see if the chiari was causing my symptoms. he said it sounds like chiari symptoms but wanted to make sure. i was pleased. I had the MRI done Friday and should receive the results tomorrow.
If you started treatment with any congestion it's probably only been made worse by the ribavirin, which is known to cause increased phlegm and coughing. Myself, I usually start the day harumphing like an old man or, to stay gender-consistent, like Marge Simpson's sister Selma. Your response to the interferon shot makes sense, too: the drug concentration reaches its peak in what, 72 hours? Somebody help me out here. I react on exactly the same timetable as you, if that's any consolation.
Sounds like PND to me....I went to a GI and was put on PPI's and that was yrs b4 I ever got my chiari dx....but I am much better post op even with the hiatal hernia...I only take H2 blockers if I am going to eat foods that I know will trigger a flare up but for the most part I am not on meds I just watch my diet. It is best to make sure that u do not have ne damage due to the acids and how much acids r really affecting u.
Even though I'm sure this had resolved itself long ago, it just sounds like Bronchitis to me. As an asthmatic myself I do tend to get Bronchitis once in a while due to built-up mucus in the lungs. The cough starts out dry for a while, then eventually produces the mucus. When I get up in the mornings I always cough up a ball of hardened mucus that sometimes looks spaghetti-like. It's simply old mucus that's been sitting in my throat all night that I cough up in the morning.
I took him outside for fresh air, he stopped and 5 mins later he is breathing like that again. He takes like 5 really strong breaths through his nose and then is back to normal. What is going on? He is a 9 year old beagle and just had a vet check up yesterday and was fine. My mom did say he tried to eat some garbage on his walk, he always eats stuff that people throw on side walks (chicken bones), but she said she opened his mouth and got it all out.
If its non stop, you need to bring her to the Vet. That sounds like she may have fluid in her lungs..
Sounds like she should be checked for asthma. If she cannot stop coughing, take her to the doctor.
I am in my 60s and I do smoke pesticide-free tobacco, (but not kidding myself that it is fine to do so). On the last day of the antibiotic, 3 days ago, I spent 30 minutes coughing and trying to clear chest congestion that I had not been experiencing. The result were small amounts of clear, somewhat thick, white sputum. The next two days, there was very little coughing, but it remained productive.
Sounds like you need an x ray to rule out pnemonia.
I feel fine, except I have a deep cough that I can not seem to shake and when I breath deep I can hear like a weezing sound at the end of my breath. I can go for long periods without coughing, but will have times where I can't stop. I only on occassion cough up flem. What might be the problem?
went to the er and they said it was pneumonia, But i dont have any other Symptoms just coughing blood thats it.how can you have pneumonia with nothing else like fever chills ?the thing other then coughing blood is i have like a lump on my neck that has been sore for months .It feels been i a stiff neck ,and like blood isnt getting passed through the veins there.could that be a blood clot or something else i should be concerned about?can one thing have anything to do with the other?
Cough all the time, and have a rattle in my chest and throat, get winded when I walk ,,,,the sounds that my breathing makes wakes me up I have tried allergie meds ,,,doesn't help I do use an inhaler I use a lot ,but they vwas given to me three hrs ago due to a cold
Good morning...it sounds like your little cocker has a great life with you! Ask you veterinarian if this could possibly be a "reverse sneeze". The signs you describe don't fit the description of a reverse sneeze perfectly, but it is possible that is what he is doing. Some owners describe the reverse sneeze as a "goose honking" kind of cough. Glad to hear that he is living a good life with you.
But he still coughs. Sometimes it gets so bad that the veins in his face look like they are gonna bust and he turns bright red. I have to blow in his face before he will take a breath. My doctor has listened to his lungs and chest over and over agagin and they are clear. We have has x rays done and nothing has shown up. He sounds like a cat when he breathes. it rattles in his throat. It seems to me that he has flem or somthing stuck in his throat all the time.
She is eating and drinking without an issues also. It sounds as if she is coughing up phlem but nothing ever comes up. Her breathing is fine, never gasps for air and there has been no voimiting either. She sleeps most of the night with out coughing. It sounds like kennel cough but I am pretty sure it is not! She is an inside dog and we have a fenced in yard. She is only around our other dog who has no coughing issues at all.
It sounds like you may be suffering from LPR - its a type of reflux that affects the upper respiratory system - causing mucous to come up, coughing fits, one sided ear and sinus pain, etc. Please look it up, much of what you are talking about sounds like that (as I am guessing you have ruled out things like asthma, etc.?). The usual treatment is a PPI like Nexium twice a day and allergy type medications.
i had been coughing for weeks.. docs gave me all kinds meds... but belive this out not i smoke a little of some weed.. i havent coughed all day long...
Can you tell if the coughing is spurred on by something "throaty" or something deeper like your lungs? (I can't think of a good way to ask that, but I hope you know what I mean. You know, sometimes you cough and cough because there's a "tickle" in your throat that just won't quit, and other times it seems more of a bronchial or lung thing like when you have mucous in your lungs?) Does the cough sound dry or wet?
Hi..sounds alot like she needs some more testing done, such as pulmonary function testing at the very least, even get a sample of her mucous to test for any bacteria, molds etc... I know she may be afraid to go to the the doc, but she needs the right diagnosis so that she can get the correct treatment. If she is this miserable, and she sounds it, it may even get worse if she doesn't get it treated properly. She has allergies, smokes and there are many pets, including a parrot.
Please know that coughing (unles it's a hairball) or panting is NOT ok in your cat. We had an upper resp, virus go through our house and 2 cats were fine. The 3rd I thought had mucus in his throat or trouble breathing due to stuffy nose like the rest and didn't realise his distress till he coughed up a frightening gob of green phlegm. Bob spent last night @ the vet w/pneumonia. happily (so far-say prayers for my boy) all signs looking good for him and he's coming home tonight.
I have been on shouldn't I be better and not need the nebulizer as much? The worse is the coughing fits I get into, sometimes I feel like I'm choking, and than I feel like I did 4 1/2 wks. ago. The cough isn't very productve but sometimes I cough up white, thick sputum. Also when I took my daughter in for a flu shot and got in a coughing fit there her dr. said I sounded like I had pertusis. Is it normal for the cough to last that long with bronchitis?
like my left side so my husband was hearing my heart and says its sounds like a torando in there is that normal....looking for a new cardiologist closer to me..
