The last 2 nights I can't sleep because I'm constantly clearing my throat/choking and gagging on mucus/coughing. I've tried the nettepot sinus rinse with no positive results. I'm feeling like a zombie. I'm 21w 2 days. Any other ideas on safe remedies?
I don't cough up phlegm as often, its more of a dry cough now with some phlegm every now and then. I'm coughing every 5 minutes at least it seems and it just feels like my throat is being ripped apart. I decided I'd quit smoking pot until this passes, as I was doing so the other night and it just hurt really bad too. Anyways any advice? Do I just have a sore throat that needs to pass? I'm thinking of picking up some throat spray today... I tried all the other remedies..
I cough and cough, and I feel like I'm choking and wanting to puke at the same time. I wake up in the middle of the night coughing and nothing seems to work. I took medicine, I did showers, vicks on my feet and throat and cough drops. I even did the whole honey and lemon. I tried tea and hot water with lemon and honey. But I just can't find anything soothing. This has been happening for about a week or so.
I hope it doesnt get out of control like mine did... Im still coughing but just alittle. good luck with yours..you can try honey... but it really didnt help me any. I would go get something from your dr just to kick it out fast.
I do not cough when I am not speaking. What could be the cause and any quick remedies. I am non-smoker and non-alcoholic. Also, which kind of doctor should I be visiting to get a quick check on this? Should it be a regular doctor like a family physician or should it an ENT or someone else. Please advise.
I found that sometimes though that warm water would ease my throat a bit and it seems like cold dry air triggers the coughing more. At first, I'll begin to cough every 10 minutes or so, then it becomes more frequent, every couple minutes and sometimes it'd get so severe that I just keep coughing until there is phlegm that comes out but it is clear. Its been so bad lately that my stomach and chest are hurting, sore, and I'm afraid that I may cough in my sleep.
yes, my son can have a cough when he has a drip in his throat and he can have a drip in his throat from his allergies. Seasonal allergies have been tough this year with the odd weather in the US. I got an air filter (just a small size/room size one) and use a vacuum with a filtering system (dyson) and it has helped a lot lately. good luck.
I am on some meds now to clear up my airways etc. Any home remedies or meds to stop coughing, and to make breathing a little easier to speed up and simplify my recovery?
It began in 1976 and re occurs every 5 to 6 years. I get a sore throat (not tonsils but when you swallow) I now go straight on antibiotics and use Bricanyl inhaler although it doesnt seem to have much effect except to cause alot of mucus coughed up from the lungs. It causes me to have spasm coughing and if I cannot control this to 3 or 4 coughs my windpipe closes over making it hard to breath in or out.

hello I have recently taken my poor 8 yr old male Bombay, Shadow (aka Pnut or Doo) to the vet for an array of symptoms such as diarrhea, bumps on skin, sneezing, coughing, & difficulty swallowing. They gave him a couple of injections at the place & sent me home with some medication for his diarrhea. They wanted to do a chest xray, but I don't have the money for it. They suggested getting him on Imodium AD as well. His diarrhea is getting under control. However, I have a new issue.
My son has a severe throat clearing & coughing issue, heavy mucus comes out of him like glue. He strains to clear his throat then the coughing starts and never ends, until he goes to sleep, when he sleeps it is not as bad. It seems to get worst every year. We have been to many doctors over the last six years with no real results. He has taken so many medications it affects how he acts.
Ive had a sore throat for about a week. A day ago I looked in the mirror to see how red it was and there are little white patch things all over my tonsils and back of throat. My son who is 1 has also been very very fussy practically crying all day long and refuses to eat most of the time. He has been like this for about four days now.My son has insurance so i will take him to see the doctor but i do not. Does anyone have any idea of what this could be and could it be related to my son?
I gave him my Nasonex 1 buff in each nostril and he stop coughing in about 5 mins. It's mirracle to me. However, I just learn this home remedies last week and I want to share with you to try and see if it works. I tried it on me 3 nights ago and I did not have post nasal drop last 2 nights and no day neezing. For aldult: 2 red radish crushed + 1or 2 teaspoon honey + half yellow lemon. Stir up and eat.
This last week has been pretty miserable for me - I've had a sore throat for a week which is longer than any other sore throat in my life. At times it has been more intense, at times almost nonexistant. The first day I had it it was combined with a headache/lightheaded/dizzy and congestion. While those other symptoms come and go, the sore throat has been a constant. I considered that it might be seasonal allergies as the tree pollen around here has exploded.
(follow anti candida diet, and gluten free - grains have high levels of mycotoxins). CAUSE post nasal drip and throat itching Coughing begets more coughing... 2. MASSIVE coughing spells, create a form of reflux,(not discussed much but common with singers and athletes)... negative pressure in esophagus, literally ***** up the stomach acid to our esophagus creating more irritation and continued/more severe coughing. 3.
But I am still having problems. Starts with a tickle like a pin *****, then like a crumb in my throat and the coughing starts to the point where I can only get a small breath in thru my nose. The tears, snot, red face and sometimes throw up. It feels like a spasm in my throat. Temp changes, quick breaths like if you get startled, deep breaths, smells, food and salt, even if my hair tickles my face, you name it. DH thinks it's all in my head, nope it is all in my throat.
The main thing to remember to do is to keep your throat moist - a most throat won't feel as sore and scratchy as a dry throat will and a dry throat is more likely to cause coughing, which will further irritate your throat. If the sore throat is caused by a bacterial infection such as strep, the above home remedies will still provide relief from pain, but like with a virus, it won't get rid of the bacteria causing the infection and in order to do that, you will need an antibiotic.
Anyone know what I should take for a head cold/sore throat..My ear is kind of hurting also! I am due April 29, and I am 5 weeks and 2 days! Thanks for any advice!!!
The mucous sliding down the back of my throat is still everpresent, and causes me to constantly clear my throat, which oftentimes triggers a coughing episode, though the coughing has subsided considerably. Since my daughter recently had a c-section and has two other children, she's needed me to help her and I'm afraid to go anywhere near the newborn, not knowing if this mucous thing with the accompanying cough is contagious or not.
During this time my throat clearing and coughing came back. It got gradually worse over the course of three years until it was greatly affecting my sleep at night. I sleep on the couch now because I keep my husband awake from my noises. After awhile the coughing and clearing started occuring during the daytime more and more often. At this time right now in my life I would say I clear my throat about five hours a day which is incredibly exhausting.
It started with what seemed to be a cold or flu, but he has been getting worse. His throat has been very sore. A couple weeks ago a doctor gave him antibiotics without doing a test, the prescription was for 5 days, unfortunately he doesn't remember which antibiotic it was. His throat was still hurting and he said he could see pus, so I told him he should get tested for strep. He did, but, the results were worse than strep - his throat is infected with MRSA.
) I've been reading a number of posts here, in the archives, about phlegm in the throat. I have phlegm in the back of my throat all the time. I'm certain this is contributing to my snoring. One extremely helpful post said that constant phlegm in the throat is comes from congestion that is above or below your throat. If the congestion is in the chest this could be due to asthma. I'm not asthmatic, I don't smoke or live with a smoker, so that's out.
I have sticky mucus in my throat. It take heat moist from showers, and a lot of coughing to get it up..When I inhale I feel it close over my breathing and I have to cough to get it up..It's usually sticky and about the size of a quarter or sometimes smaller. I have had this problem for over 20yrs. I have this fear of it not coming up and that I will suffocate.
