Common Questions and Answers about Coughing on exhale

coughing

Then I began these sort of yoga moves with arms moving up on the inhale and down on the exhale, calming myself and going forward again. Since building myself up to over 2 miles, I am wheezing less and have greatly increased my lung capacity. Mind you I have been advised by most doctors not to walk in the cold or rain, or to take it easy, but I ignore this advice. I go no matter what the weather is and I move.
Hello, Im 43....I was very sick in Dec, bad chest cold coughing up lots of green flim. This went on for 6 week...no i didnt go to Doctor untill recently. Anyways i started noticing whistle sounds and a bubbling type sound when i would exhale only. Now Im finding it more and more harder to exhale when i lay down at night???? Do you think i might of damaged myself by not getting to a Doctor.
Usually coughing when you have a change in your breathing pattern while laughing or exhaling deeply is a sign that your asthma is out of control. The feeling you have described of something sitting on your chest, especially when you lie flat could be due to your postnasal drip. However it is more likely that it is another sign that your asthma is out of control. A peak flow meter does not measure changes in the small airways of your lungs.
Did he ever suggest getting a culture done? First morning specimens are the best. The specimen needs to go into the lab soon after coughing up, and it must be done into a sterile container. You unfortunately need a doc's order for this. Coughing up green stuff is not normal. Do you have any other symptoms? Why is your doctor being so offhand about this? Have you had a chest xray??? I personally think your doc is being pretty cavalier about this. You may want a second opinion.
He prescribed a steroid pack (methylprednisolone), Benzonatate (cough), Fexosenadine (prescription strength Allegra D), Veramyst (nasal spray) and also over the counter Mucinex DM. Still coughing on the 5th day on meds so I decided to get the Mucinex on Sunday because I really didn’t want to take anything else. I’m already on BP, thyroid, cholesterol, anxiety, reflux and osteoporosis meds. Mussinex definitely works and the spells come less and less. HOWEVER, I still have them.
I can't even exhale at all for 3 years on prednisone even. I'm trying to get tracheostomy again. I tried breo and it didn't seem to do anything for 15 days. so I hope I can get the solumedrol injection that is safe and full strength to clear up my chest problems/coughing. really hope and pray it isn't COPD now. I have to deal with terrible smoking at my workplace to make a living. so I haven't found a cure for sleep apnea even on the asv and don't have the clarity and memory I used to.
The neurologist who had initially thought it was not MG because she was not experiencing double vision and showed strong signs of extreme upper body strength, however after a clear MIRA scan and solely after an extremely positive Tensilon test he made a positive MG diagnoses at 6pm last Friday evening the 12th April, only 3 months after having had an operation on her right hip fracture.
Since about midnight I have had a tickle/irritation in my laranx (sp) that has triggered coughing spasams that have lasted for about 30 secs to a minute about every five minutes. The coughs are making my head really hurt at the temples and the back of my neck. They even made me wet my pants. :( The tickle in my throat seems to be only on the left side. I am at a loss as cause. But I thought I would express my missery. Nothing I have done seems to make any difference.
Motherinlaw had it as a child, but when she started coughing (89 yrs old), dr started her on antibiotics immediately. She still had a pretty bad case but mild compared to mine. I'm 60 years old. Young adults and older adults need the booster. Spread the word. Insist on the whooping cough test if you're coughing.
I get a sore throat (not tonsils but when you swallow) I now go straight on antibiotics and use Bricanyl inhaler although it doesnt seem to have much effect except to cause alot of mucus coughed up from the lungs. It causes me to have spasm coughing and if I cannot control this to 3 or 4 coughs my windpipe closes over making it hard to breath in or out. The last one about 2 years ago stopped me breathing in and out completely for 10 to 15 seconds and I thought I had bought it.
It feels interior in nature. It does not hurt while breathing normally, coughing shallowly, or upon movement of any kind. It hurts when taking a deep breath at the end of the inhalation and when exhaling at the end of the exhale and also when coughing deeply. For the last week, this pain radiates through to my back in the corresponding spot. --It feels like the only mucus being coughed up comes from the left side of my chest.
They diagnosed it as reactive airways disease. Ever since that diagnosis, i been having a cough off and on for 3 months at a time. I been smoking for 11 years now. The er at the time prescribed me ventolin hfa. I went to my regular dr a week later and they ordered me a pulmonary function test. I got the results and it says that there is nothing wrong with my lungs. But i still continue to get the cough off and on every 3-4 months.
Also, wanted to add this piece of information. I have been Arizona for last 1 year. Desperate to gain some insight into this I happen to chance on a site which said that the spot on the lung could also be due "valley fever" usually found in arizona and neighbouring regions.
I had a thoracotomy on my right lung when I was 16. I started smoking at 17 and had smoked until a week ago. No other significant health problems. I was having pains in my chest when I would exhale the pain would radiate up to the bottom of my teeth. I have a very hard time taking a deep breath and when I do there is a wheeze coming from the right side of my chest. Consequently I cannot yawn easily and most of the time I find I cannot yawn at all. The pain is not sharp but a dull ache.
As the day goes on I seem to become congested and begin having bouts of coughing, but no flem or anything comes up. I start making sounds when I exhale deeply, like wheezing or gurgling sounds. Nothing painful, just funny sounds. But I sleep well at night and no problem again when I awake the next morning. I am baffled at what this could be?
Second month of the meds have been ordered and are now on their way so stay tuned for more updates as we knock out these 12 weeks of treatment. I truly believe this 3rd attempt to SVR will be the final one as it will be the cure I have needed using these 2 drugs! I will keep you all posted. Hugs and God Bless!
A bacteria is its own living cell and multiplies and spreads on its own and is easier to destroy in that process. Speaking of outbreaks, influenza is finally reaching Palo Alto right around now. If your doctor knows that your own area is experiencing an outbreak of influenza, it may be reasonable to treat with antiviral drugs, especially if your temperature is more than 100 degrees and your symptoms have lasted less than 48 hours, and you don't have pneumonia.
I felt dizzy and sat, my friend gave me a water and the first sips were hard to get down because my throat felt it was closed. I'm still wheezing on exhale, coughing and have a little chest tightness and my throat still doesn't feel normal. My peak flow was high, in the 400's. What caused this?
Ok so about the begining of December I started not feeling well, went to the doctors office found out I had bronchitis and was put on antibiotics for it. I started to feel slightly better but still had the all around "yuck" feeling. Well starting about 4 days ago I started having coughing fits. Whenever I breathe in pretty much my throat starts itching and Ill start hacking.
Now i still hurt when I exhale but it not only hurts at the middle of my chest it feels like someone is stapping me in the ribs. Any ideas on what this could be? I had a cold over 2 weeks ago, but have been fine for over a week. It also hurts to cough or sneeze.
I have a cough Its difficult to exhale without coughing talking is very difficult. Severe Backach between shoulder blades. Experiencing muscles spasms in my upper back and stomach from coughing often happens when Im not coughing, sitting walking, standing. When my breathing is ok I don't have the back pain. The headachs have subsided, "Thank god" What els can I do? I'm at my wits end..
unless really necessary. Last night I started getting back pain on my left side, I figured it was just the way i was laying. As the night went on it did not go away. This morning its stilll here, It does not go away but its like a sharp pain more when i inhale than exhale?????? any ideas, should i go to doctors or let it ride out?
With asthma the wheezing sounds occur on the exhale, due to obstruction within the lungs. You can see a pulmonary specialist or ENT for a proper diagnosis, as I am not a doctor. They can also prescribe you the right treatment to deal with these attacks.
My most recent of the MRIs mentioned was this summer in July, I have had off and on head pressure and neuro symptoms (gagging sensations, pains, waking up gasping for air at night, etc). My question is, now my symptoms of headache have been constant and severe after a coughing from a cold and having a medical test done that led me to gag and strain (tube stuck in my throat). i also have pain radiating in my arms and legs and weird sensations.
He passed out while riding a bike 5-6 yrs. ago, dehydration was diagnosed. Has had headaches off and on over the past 5-6 yrs. - fiorinal was perscribed; Palpatations in his chest in the past yr.
Also if I start laughing I'll start coughing so bad it feels like I am coughing up my lungs and am about to pass out.Sometimes if feels like there are small "balloons" in my lungs and when I breath deeply they hurt badly but I keep breathing until they "pop" and then the pain stops. Also - A doctor "diagnosed...or misdiagnosed me with "slight" asthma and prescribed inhalers. I since have not had insurance to refill those...
then about a week ago i was training and choked on the water i was drinking and started having a coughing fit. thats when my left front side of my rib cage popped and it was a 10 on the scale when i tried to EXHALE. i have a fight in exactly one week that i cant back out of. is there a quick fix?
I caught a pretty bad cold that lasted 2-3 days; following that I have been coughing and wheezing when I exhale. I have lots of plegm as well. This is my 3rd day of wheezing. Should I see a doctor? I am 50+ year-old female; Type II diabetic for 2 years now. This discussion is related to wheezing while exhaling.
