green and yellow flem should not be coming up from allergy unless it is stomach acid. Usually allergy is clear mucus. I'm not a doctor but I wonder if it is a bacteria infection. Sorry I don't know the correct answer. Maybe the doctors are correct too. I just personally haven't heard of colored mucus from allergy. Allergy can cause mucus that can lead to bacteria infection too. See another doctor.
Last Friday I got bad nasal congestion, stopped and runny nose, and sinus pressure and some sneezing and coughing. Sunday I developed a mild fever off and on not going over 99.7. Then I began coughing up some yellow mucus and have had pressure in my ears making it difficult for me to hear.i don't have any swollen glands or anything.. just worried about the mild fever. I know things are going around due to season change, but I have herpes and I'm terrified of hiv.. any help please?

I have these same symptoms. I first got these symptoms 5 years ago, they lasted three months then went away. I got them again last year, I went to the doctor after three months, i waited to see if the coughing went away on it's own again, she told me I had bronchitis and prescribed a steroid. The coughing went away. I have it again, went to the doctor and they told me I did not have bronchitis after looking at chest xrays and it is going on 4 months with no relief.
Streptoccocal infection is the most common bacterial infection and can cause nasal symptoms too. Indoor exposure to black mold can cause upper respiratory tract symptoms such as sore throat and cough with or without wheeze in otherwise healthy people.
Ideally you should consult a chest specialist. A comprehensive investigation including CBC, throat swab, allergic tests, X-rays, examination with a scope in throat, spirometry etc is required keeping all the points in mind.
I rested for 2 more weeks after finishing the antibiotics but was still coughing yellow mucus and feeling tired with moderate/mild activity. My doctor (chest specialist) put me on another 10 day course (moxifloxacin) which I'm finishing now, but I'm still tired and coughing up yellow.
I know it can take months to fully recover, but I'm afraid that as the mucus is still colored, the infection hasn't cleared. When can I expect the mucus to turn clear?
My symptoms - I had a sore throat, coughing up mucus, mild temp, sneezing etc, about 4 months ago, ever since, the symptoms keep recurring, mainly coughing. mild crackles in my airways upon waking, which is cleared by coughing up mucus. I have been to my GP quite a few times, have had three different types of anitbiotics, a chest Xray and lung funciton test. Have also been tested for whooping cough and other types of viruses, which are all negative.

I have had very unproductive coughing and some times I get a clump of rather dry mucus that tooks like spagetti or worms. I also have fatigue and a feeling of fullness all of the time.

5 1/2 weeks of extreme coughing day and night with passing urine when coughing, urinary urgency, but unable to pass urine, treated twice with different antibiotics, two kinds of musinex expectorant with anti cough. Starting from 02/23/2008 (the 37th day after last exposure), I started coughing with productive thick dark yellow mucus, runny nose, sore throat. However there was no fever until 03/02 (the 44th day after last exposure).
Here are the descriptions of my symptions:
Day 1 ~ day 8: productive coughing, thick dark yellow mucus, runny nose, sore throat (No fever)
Day 9: fever with 102.8F maximum.
I fractured a rib from coughing so much a year ago which still hurts. I'm extremely exhausted and feel like I'm forcing myself to breath since my body doesn't want to and my tongue feels like a bite it but I don't and it swells at sometimes at night and I'm constantly coughing and I feel like I'm drowning in mucus or phlegm. Every other week I become so sick for a day or 2 then it goes away. I'm just tired of feeling like this me having no answers.
My symptoms started a month ago when i had a fever, throat pain, coughing up yellow mucus and a runny nose, so i decided to visit my doctor which prescribed Klacid 500 mg (Clarithromycin), which i took and after a few days the runny nose stopped and my throat no longer hurt, however, i was still caughing, which a follow-up to my doctor gave me Valdocef (Cefadroxil) which i also took but the cough remained.
Second day I started to get a sore throat and started coughing really hard with a lot of dark green mucus coming out of my coughs. Nine months after recovering from terrible acute bronchitis, I am still coughing up small blobs of thick sticky, pale yellow mucus all day. My allergist says my asthma is under control, my sinuses are more or less clear, and I recently went to the cardiologist for a full workup. All that's left is GERD, but I'm unsure how to proceed because I hardly have any other symptoms.
