Not to detract from your situation though.. I once had a too runny nose also - then had surgery to staighten a deviated septum and open the nose some without removing turbinates. I was good for a few years, then started getting beat-up by the dryness condition. -But the point is I know where you're at, and it is annoying. In my present condition, I see some improvement when eating - apparently because the salivary glands are stimulated and the nose-throat are better moisturized.
When I got home last night, I blew my nose and It was red. When I woke up this morning and blew my nose its still red. I also have a really bad cough. What could be the problem?

My senses are dulled and i have a very runny nose. On top of that I feel a mucus buildup in my lower throat or bronchi which I can't get out. I've noticed that breathing is somewhat more difficult. I'm not coughing. It's also difficult to keep my eyes open although I get sufficient sleep.
It all appears to be from just my left nostril, and while most of it is thick, after I blow for a little bit, the thick stuff turns to a very runny, very yellow fluid that feels almost like a bloody nose dripping out of my sinuses. Sometimes, the color is just a normal, milky yellow, but most of the time it is very dark, and often almost orange. This morning, after blowing a little bit, I noticed there was a fair amount of blood in it.
On Saturday, she got watery eyes and I didn't pay much attention to it b/c it didn't seem to bother her much (it seemed very minor). On Sunday, she got a runny/stuffy nose for about two hours and it went away so again, I paid no attention to it. Today, however, it was really bad. The nose was runny for about 5 hours non stop, eyes tearing and she's super cranky today. She has no fever and is not coughing. I called the dr and he told me that it can't be the reaction to the shot.
I spit it up when I can but sometimes it just sticks there. I either have extreme runny nose out of the blue or coughing and sneezing to try and get rid of it.I have to carry water at all times or take the chance of having a choking attack. I am so sick of tasting this stuff all the time when I swallow. My doctor doesn't seem to know what it is either so I don't know whats left to do.I am constantly clearing my throat too and sometimes can taste blood.
did you have a cold before all this coughing started? because i had a runny nose/sore throat cold and then that got better and the next week I got a horrible mucus cough that lasted for about 3 months. i eventually had to go to the doctor and she said i had a slight case of bronchitis so she had to give me prescription meds , that helped a little and a couple weeks later i was better.
Hi, an important aspect about pertussis or whooping cough is vaccination. The best way to prevent pertussis is to get vaccinated. There are vaccines for infants, children, preteens, teens and adults. Researchers agree that refusal to vaccinate children against whooping cough might have played a role in the 2010 pertussis outbreak in California. The whooping cough vaccination is now recommended for all pregnant women between 28 and 38 weeks pregnant. Regards.
For two years now I have been suffering with excess mucus , it's a problem in the morning as soon as I get out of bed, if I get out of bed before the morning or the bathroom I have to spend a half hour coughing and spitting up mucus, I can't have ice cream, dairy as that will make me have mucus is all day long.
These are substances like pollen, dust, animal dander, certain foods, insect venoms and certain medications. Exposure to allergens causes a runny nose with a resultant post nasal drip where secretions from the nose go backward into the throat and irritate causing cough. Cough is a protective mechanism by the body as it helps to prevent infections. You will need to consult your primary care physician for proper clinical assessment.
violent sneezes (he always had them but now they occur more often) and coughs (though coughs are not as consistent - you do hear him coughing once every hour without any mucus) my question is that is it something we should b worried about? the heart specialists back home told us that it's nothing, however i dont know how much i trust them. could it be because of the medications he is taking after bypass? and wht about CHF? do you think he could have that as well??
here's the dirty little medical secret--most of the problems with mucus, coughing, runny nose, sore throat, etc. are caused by nasal drainage from a chronic sinus infection/irritation. Doctors can't treat it well, because antibiotics don't reach the sinuses well, due to low blood circulation there. I teach grade school (germ factory) in Houston (mold city) near oil refineries (worst air pollution in U.S.
The real fireworks come the next morning though right after I get out of bed. Watery mucus from the nose for a couple hours, unpleasant postnasal drip all day. -- Carbonated water. Yea, i dont understand this either, but any sodas will make my nose run while im drinking it. Also I learned the hard way, some apple ciders cheat and sneak some carbonated water into it for the head. I know this because ive had to learn to like hard ciders since I cant drink beer any more.
I have a 4 yr old son, who has been coughing for about 2 mon now. There wasn't any mucus just dry. Then recently he started getting a fever. We took him to the hospital and the prescribed him some Tylenol with Codine. I gave to him just as described, but I started to notice some severe body changes. He started shaking and his cough became even more severe after the medicine took its course. So I decided to take him off myself. He started getting better after a day or two.
She doesn't realize that the crying will cause more mucus to form in her lungs and make the coughing worse. I can sympathize with you parents, I never knew what you went through and now I do. There have been so many physical trials we have gone through. Thank you for listening.

I realize coughing up yellowish-green or green mucus is normal when you have bronchitis, but what about bright, lemon yellow colored mucus? What is it? What caused it? How do I get rid of it? Should I be worried? (Have had typical bronchitis symptoms for aprox. 3 weeks...cough, chest congestion, runny/congested nose, lots of phlem, lose of voice, raspy voice, deep chest cough, fever (first week), trouble sleeping because it feels like someone is sitting on my chest when I lay down...
When I first get up in the morning and I take a drink of water normally because I feel dehydrated I feel the mucus start forming. I then start coughing and trying to spit up the mucus. It is really been horrible. I eat and then 30 minutes later I am thowing up my food. I have been treated with antibiotics and cough medicine but the cough and the mucus still persist. I am so tired of urinating all over myself when I cough. I am exhausted and keep getting the run around.

Now, I can tell within minutes if I've consumed something that wasn't 100% gluten-free--the hacking/coughing/runny nose/gagging starts in within five minutes!!!!! Otherwise, I *NEVER* get the coughing after eating anymore! Just wanted to share in case you have similar problems--it took me several years to get it diagnosed (and they can only find it with a blood test!
Well, if everything didn't just start out of no where when you bought the cat and you've always had some sort of abnormal coughing or tickling and some mucus you could have a mild form of COPD. I'm currently going around suggesting it to people who are being told they have allergies when no allergy medicines work.. I was told this for the longest time and believed it, but I stumbled over this recently.
He takes Zyrtec syrup, and it clears it up completely. It could also be an allergy to milk or something, causing extra mucus. Reflux can also cause coughing.
Her sis on the other hand is ok, just runny nose, no fever but I have been giving her tylenol. hope this ends soon.
I like a saline gel called Ayr. They also make a spray. It really feels good in the nose. Also, my GP recently prescribed Nasonex for "Colorado Dry Nose". I've used it a couple of times and it helps runny nose, but I'm leary of yet another med.
It sounds like post nasal drip. Do you have allergies? Do you smoke? Do you have a runny nose/any sinus related symptoms? Sometimes over the counter decongestants can help with things like this, because you want to dry up the mucus that is dripping. I would give that a try first...something like Zyrtec, Sudafed, etc. Zyrtec seemed to help my Mom with this problem quite a bit. Best of luck!
i am so glad im not the only one! I watched a program the other night about brain fluid but I searched it up and its most likely to be a common sinus infection. PHEW!!!
it is a dry cough for the most part with a little bit of phlegm, but I am also having on and off cold symptoms (runny nose with clear mucus, sneezing). some of the coughing fits have gotten so bad that I have not been able to breathe and almost thrown up. it doesn't seem to be getting better with time and I am getting tired of coughing. what could this be?
