Regarding the coughing, the most common cause is a degeneration of the mitral valve within the heart. The veterinarian who sees your dog will be able to diagnose this via an exam and some xrays. The xrays will also help rule in or out cancer, parasites etc.

Avatar n tn My mom is now in a Detriot hosptial. My mom just had a surgery to remove the fluid around the heart on Sunday. The surgery was successful. However, today we are told that they found there is cancer cell in the fluid they drained. My mom is still coughing and she had X-ray scan when entered the hospital on July 5th, 2008 and the hospital found nothing wrong from the X-ray picture. My question is where might that cancer cell comes from? Is is curable?
Avatar n tn My friend has been experiencing LUNG pain, coughing up blood and excessive sweating for three years now. The pain is felt every time he breathes and has increased in severity over this time frame, especially when he is resting or trying to sleep at night. He says he feels the pain in his back, on the left side. His skin still has its natural hue. He says he has NO chest pain and no pain in his arm or other extremities. He says it began after a head injury during a tennis match.

I had x-rays taken due to spitting or coughing up blood and wheezing and having a hard time breathing. I had 6 nodules in my lungs, all under 1 inch. I was diagnosed with GERD, and after the antibiotic this time, I continued with Nexium and morning and nite inhaled Advair. It was like magic with the coughing.
