Coughing green phlegm cold

Common Questions and Answers about Coughing green phlegm cold

coughing

Also I have a frequent need to clear my throat and I cough up phlegm which is often green. I have thought it was associated with a cold but it has been there now for months or even years and I do not think I have a cold. Or is it possible to have cold symptoms which linger for months? Can I do anything to help this condition ? Thanks for your help.
I have a cold, am not a smoker but am coughing up blood in my phlegm.
It appears to stem from excess phlegm. Just prior to this problem surfacing, I had a severe cold with a cough that would be cause me to vomit large amounts of phlegm. After the cold passed, the cough never seemed to completely go away. Most days I will have a coughing spell that will not pass until I have vomitted up the phlegm (approximately the size of the palm of my hand). This is pretty much daily. I have been to a general practitioner who has tested for respiratory disorders.
lol Phlegm, when yellow in color, suggests allergies, asthma, or infections. Green is also a choice color...as is clear. I would think that the blood is due to the throat being agitated. My throat has been scratchy feeling for 5 days now, and the phlegm is the same as your's...trace amounts of blood. If this does not clear up within 2 weeks, see your doctor. I'm gargling with salt water, but it doesn't reach the spot. Drinking hot tea seems to help a bit. Good luck.
I thought I was problem-free from then on, but recently (around March 20, 2008), I've had trouble with excessive coughing and extremely adhesive yellowish-green phlegm for almost 2 weeks. Then for the next seven days, I took an antibiotic and Endorsteine(?) Zertin (through a friend's recommendation) which was medication for acute bronchitis though I was only 75% sure that my condition was even bronchitis.
I had an allergic reaction to amoxcillin a few weeks ago and have generally been unwell since, this cough came from no where, did not have a cold but did have sore throat, in the morning and through the night is worse, coughing up green phlegm and being sick eventually, i even resorted to using my sons inhaler as wheezy and chest seems highly irritated all the time, extremely lethargic and having high temp normally at night, i am totally fed up and i do feel unwell, i cant sleep well and i have
I am 25 and I have those symptoms and more. I have had cold like symptoms for two months now. Coughing, phlegm, sneezing, head congestion, now my left ear is losing it, eyes turning read and itching, chest tightness, hoarseness..the symptoms are endless it seems. I was diagnosed with allergies to southern pollen. Well, i moved out of the south and the symptoms have gotten worse. I dont buy the allergy thing. I've never had a history of allergies or getting sick. But this is frustrating me.
Just take paracetamol for the aches and pains and try some vapour rub to help clear congestion. You say that you were coughing up green stuff though? I would keep an eye on that, if you're congested and coughing up green stuff that's usually sign of infection because it should be cloudy white or clear otherwise. If it continues go see your doctor.
follwed by 2 days of sore throat and now cough 1st day of had green phlem 2nd day yellow green...when coughing my chest felt burning and achiness then subsided until next cough. During the day my cough is feels irritated not to much acheing...almost dry cough. And not coughing at night. My toddler had same cold but seems to be getting better...mine is not . Do you think I have an infection now?
For many years I have had a problem where after every meal I immediately begin choking and coughing, which can last for a good half hour or more. It feels like all of my air passages become blocked with mucus and I have trouble breathing. Sometimes the coughing is so severe I end up vomiting or I often gag almost to the point of vomiting (It's very exhausting.) It doesn't seem to matter what I eat, and it happens pretty much after every meal.
The phlegm colour ranges from clear to green to these days being brown. A good lot of the time it is hardened. Have had blood spots in it in the past but seldom. I generally feel well, just tired. Don't often get colds. This discussion is related to EXCESSIVE PHELGM AND COUGHING?????.
However, lately I would start coughing at random and my phlegm would either be brown or green. Do I still have a cold or did a gain an infection somehow?
Almost over this ****, but still coughing phlegm up in the morning that's pretty thick and nasty. After that, I'm usually fine through out the day, maybe a cough here and there.
Another symptom is constant mucous (phlegm) in my throat, this has lasted ever since the cold as well. I feel a lump of phlegm in the back of my throat whenever I swallow. Sometimes it feels thick enough that I bring it out of my throat and spit it out. When spit out, the phlegm is typically clear or white. Finally I saw my primary care about 3 weeks ago. He said I have a post-nasal drip, and that I should have seen him when I first had the cold.
I know it's not bacterial because I'm not coughing up a lot d green mucus or have that drowning feeling in my lungs. I think it's just my Annual Bronchitis kicking in it has always started during late fall early winter. But I am going to be setting a doctor appointment so I can get more of those Tessalon pearls.
It started with an acute sore throat, followed by runny nose (thick green yellowish snot) all day, spells of ticklish cough (with phlegm), sneezing, bodily aches, headaches, deep voice, dry mouth with metallic taste. I tried to take some cold medicine to allieviate the symptoms, and also taking vitamin C and zinc supplement, and euchanicia. Normally cold/flu goes away about a week. But this time, it STAYS.
Every time you get a cold, notice how it usually starts in the throat with a tickle, a scratch, or a slight cough. It then progresses into chest congestion or travels up into the ears and the sinuses. You’ll have a low grade fever, mild chills, and a runny nose. Even if you start out with a runny nose, eventually, you’ll have throat symptoms later on. Sounds like a classic cold, right?
I have recurrent cold symptoms during my period. I have noticed the symptoms for about a year but for the last six months they have happened every month around the third day of my period. Symptoms include aching joints, blocked nose and headaches as well as generally feeling awful. Periods are heavy and painful with clotting for about seven-nine days. Cold Symptoms usually last 5-7days.
I've been through the same thing. I got sick about 10 yrs ago with some kind of chest cold. I could not stop coughing. It lasted about 2 months. My throat would close and I would almost pass out. Actually started to cough up a little blood. I went to the family doctor about 8 times. They put me on Codeine cough syrup and tried several antibiotics, nothing worked. Next was Advair, no change. They sent me to a respiratory specialist and checked me for athsma. No Athsma or pneumonia.
Lately, I have become very sensitive to A/C. When the cold air blows down my neck and back I begin to get a cold and tingly sensation down by back. It lasts for hours. I have tried Aleve, Advil and Tylenol to no avail. If I get a good nights sleep, I wake up feeling OK. But, if I come in contact with cold air it starts all over again. I too am desperate.
I have had the same happen to me. I was sick for two weeks, cold like symptoms, you know, the coughing, green phlegm, congested sinuses. After two weeks of being fed up, I finally went to the Doctor's and was prescribed a course of Apoxicillan or Amoxicillan, either way, you get the point. Finished the entire bottle, now, literally 9 days later, I get a nasty sore throat and green phlegm again. I've read all the blogs above but not sure how long to wait before I go see the doctor again?
I get a sore throat (not tonsils but when you swallow) I now go straight on antibiotics and use Bricanyl inhaler although it doesnt seem to have much effect except to cause alot of mucus coughed up from the lungs. It causes me to have spasm coughing and if I cannot control this to 3 or 4 coughs my windpipe closes over making it hard to breath in or out. The last one about 2 years ago stopped me breathing in and out completely for 10 to 15 seconds and I thought I had bought it.
I live on the East Coast, and I have a fever, chest cold, aches and pains, and feel like I want to do away with myself! Husband had it, and and now I have it, and some relatives who live near me had it recently. I've had a lot of pneumonia and bronchitis over the years, but this thing takes the cake. I noticed on TV that some government people had the sniffles. I don't have as much sniffles, but I do need to blow my nose occasionally.
I have a very sore throat, I wake up in the morning feeling very dizzy and i am coughing up very dark, thick green phlegm is this normal?
Ive had a cold which has affected my sinuses and I have phlegm going down back of throat and keeps me coughng I was coughing up green phlegm now it's clear but still got cough which is worse through the day. Wondering if I need antibiotic.
Hi, I went to a walk in clinic on Friday, I had a cold for about 5 days that seemed to be getting worse, sinus pressure, post nasal drip, cough and phlegm that produced green phlegm so he said it was sinusitis, gave me nasonex and Azithromycin. 6 pills, two at first dose and one a day, started on Saturday, it's now Tuesday, cough is minimal, still coughing up phlegm about once an hour, blowing nose is clear, chest congestion is mildly green.
The flu has passed epidemic rates in much of the country, and if you don't have a cold, I'm sure you have a friend who has the sniffles, fever, chills, aches and pains of a viral upper respiratory infection. This is different from a bacterial infection such as sinusitis, bronchitis, or pneumonia. A viral infection doesn't improve with antibiotics as these infections do. A virus hijacks your own body's healthy cells and uses it to reproduce and spread.
Ok i am a 29 year old male i used to smoke marijuana in cigar paper everyday but stopped several days ago before I became sick for several days coughing, body aches the chills head and sinus pains wheezing and no appetite while most of those symptoms stopped after several days the coughing and wheezing has stayed what concerns me is that I am wheezing still and sometimes coughing up a clearer phlegm (the phlegm 3days prior was dark green to yellow but is now more clear yellowish) with slight tra
I'm no doctor, but I don't believe it is anything to worry about UNLESS the pain continues after a few seconds to a minute. My thought is that it is probably muscle related, as sneezing (especially several times in a row) kind of jars your body. I sometimes get pains down both arms and across my chest after sneezing several times or coughing really hard and I've been assured by my doctors that this is "normal".
#2 I'm experiencing some kind if cold which just started affecting my chest yesterday and today has me coughing up dark green phlegm... Any advice ladies?
