coughing green phlegm

Hi not sure if anyone will know this but worth a try, i have smoked for 41 years mostly roll ups with no filters or anything, but about 3 plus years ago i started putting filters in and after a few months started coughing up green phlegm i asked the doctor he just said getting older and smoking, Some days it seems worse than others its really strange, i don't smoke load about 15 a day but there dead thin and i only smoke half at a time.

I have a cold, am not a smoker but am coughing up blood in my phlegm.

I sometimes cough and then cough up green phlegm. I have had upper gi and colonoscopy. It did show a hiatal hernia. I don’t know where this green stuff is coming from. Had anyone else had this problem? I especially get it when I workout.

I have been splitting up lite green phlegm for the last two months. I was told by a non medical friend to not use any over the counter drugs because this might supress the secretions that need to come out naturally? ve coughing out phlegm non stop for the past two month. Its not bloody, but thick and green sometimes white and foam like. My chest also feels tight everytime i cough. I use the sprays and all but this problem is permanently there.

no fever but i was tired and the coughing was worse in the evening and in the morning i would get bad attacks and it was very hard to cough up the phlegm. The phlegm at the time was a thick grey/green mucous. I took some chinese herbs that helped me in the past and the cough finally went away after about 5 weeks. however i still have a residual cough at night and in the morning. not producing much phlegm now but when i do its lighter and easier to hack up.

Since about the second or third week post quitting I started coughing up this weird white/gray phlegm that has a terrible, bitter acrid taste that coats my mouth and back of my throat almost like an oil. I have been getting over a recent bout of bronchitis where I was prescribed Augmentin (I am on Day 6) and Prednisone short burst (finished 2 days ago) I am still coughing quite bad but the fever has broke... but as of yesterday the phlegm/mucus I am coughing up tastes extremely salty. I have not been using any type of saline spray, or gargling with salt water, so I know this is not the reason. Is it the antibiotics causing this? Or is there another reason?

Hi, I'm 16 and 3 days ago I suddenly started coughing and green phelegm was excreted. I have sore throat, cough and occasional runny nose. I,otherwise feel generally ok. Then I started noticing something behind my throat. Could be strep but can anyone clarify. I have been exposed to airborne asbestos for 7 hours at a building site. I use an inhaler to reduce inflammation. When I stop using it my lungs get in flamed and I usually cough up a long fibre as if its in my long and been striped off. The sensation is sore. When I go back to inhaler my lungs get up green phlegm. I d'ont understand all this~~? Can green phlegm remove asbestos fibres from lung or is it just white phlegm.

Even when I stop coughing the green phelgm (after a week or so), I do continue coughing white phlegm for about another week. While the other times, the docs say it's just a common cold (I really can't tell the difference) however I keep having to have time off work, the cough is so bad I am sometimes sick with it. t realise his distress till he coughed up a frightening gob of green phlegm. Bob spent last night @ the vet w/pneumonia. happily (so far-say prayers for my boy) all signs looking good for him and he's coming home tonight. Same as you, it started dry and then progressed to bringing up phlegm. The phlegm is yellowish-green. I went to see my doctor about 2 weeks ago. He gave me an anti-biotic for a sinus infection (which is what almost everyone I know is being diagnosed with). Needless to say, I have finished my 10 day track of anti-biotics and I am still coughing! Guess that wasn't the right diagnosis. Anyways, just watch out for Pneumonia.

I assume that the spot your are talking about is sore and the green stuff is phlegm that you are coughing up? Both are good signs of a cold or sinus infection. Your neuro can make the call and tell you to call your PCP if that is who needs to see you.

All pet scans are clear and x-rays clear still I have a cough that sometimes is that of a heavy smoker. Coughing brings up clear mucus. Other than this cough I feel great. Any suggestions on how to take care of the cough?
