Am not a doctor but have worked with them for a long time. Hope you are not on coumadin. I would just be very careful.

A long term cough is commonly caused from allergens (dust, pollen, animals, food, etc.). Get a notebook and start tracking - everything - sleep patterns, food, environment, habits, inside/outside temps, time, etc. You'll be able to determine what the most likely causes are. You state he coughs more in the am at home and doesn't at the store. Chances are there is something he is coming into contact with late night/early morning at the house.
Okay so I feel I'm suffering from HIV anxiety even though I had a protected exposure with little to no risk after reading symptoms I started feeling a tickle in my throat and was coughing.....seems now I am coughing for no reason throughout the day and ending up with a sore throat. I wake up in the morning and my throat is fine....but soon after I think about coughing.....I do and continue to do so through the day and then AGAIN I have a sore throat at the end of the day.
I, too, had a cough for the duration of treatment while on Pegasys and Copegus. When I went off treatment due to non-response, the cough went away.
Had been tossing and turning for too long. Oh, I just remembered, I took a looooong time to fall to sleep.

It can survive under any type of conditions for long long time. So make sure it's eliminated from your enviroment! Also invest perhaps in a good air cleaner, or at least a Lamp Berger ( air purification system,-also deodorizes-neutrilizes offensive odors and bacteria) $40.00 Canadian for a complete kit here in Canada. Meanwhile Extra Virgin Coconut Oil is Anti-fungal, Anti-bacterial, Anti-microbial, Anti-parasitic. Consuming this will give you great long term health benefits.
I cough up yellow mucus all the time and i wake up in the morning and my sinus is always blocked up. I have had this for about seven months. It recently started getting worse with a sore throat but i'm not sure if it is the flu or the infection. Should I go to the doctor? I went to the doctor a while ago and got antibiotics but it didn't help so I am wondering if i should go back to the doctor. Is it normal for people with asthma to have so much mucus that is yellow all the time?
i have been taking a medicine for my high blood pressure and since that medicine I have been having cronic coughing. When I spoke with my health care provider they mentione dthat the medication for the blood pressure is causing the coughing and I cannot chnage the medication. Is it accurate that certain blood pressure medication causes cronic coughing.
swollen glands and a feeling that my airway was in a spasm. The cough also started then. Coughing fits that last for min. tears rolling down my face gagging and coughing to the point of vomitting. The sore throat went away after 2 weeks but the cough is still here. I have wheezing that is not present all the time. I also have gurgling sounds in my left lung that also are not constant. I have seen my MD and did levaquin and steroids. The steroids seemed to help for a while.
Hi Everyone I have also been coughing for quite some time as a result of sinus problems and Post Nasal Drip. I cough all day and allllllll night. Some one told me to purchase Dr. Tichenor's Antiseptic Mouthwash and gargle with it. You have to add 5 parts water/...I added 4 parts water to make it a little stronger. I gargle with it in the morning, afternoon and before bed at night. After coughing for close to 2 months now, I have not coughed for 3 days now.
If you believe yourself when hearing those words then, yes, it's probably time for a mental break for a few days. If you don't then come on back here and spill your guts. This Chiari thing takes the very soul out of the best of us at times.
For a few years now (never really noticed it until this year) i've had some sort of mucus or something in the back of my throat; whenever I run or such, I usually have to 'force it back down' with a swallowing-type action. Is this serious, is this something that can be fixed?
When you say you have chest pains when sitting for a long time, is this because you do not have a good sitting posture and sit slouched? Do you have any other symptoms with the chest pains, like wheezing, coughing, shortness of breath? Without any other symptoms, it is likely that it is due to your posture. But to be on the safe side, I suggest you see your doctor to listen to your chest and examine to find out whether this is a muscular, lung or heart problem, indigestion or heartburn.
It is tough when loved ones get sick but just remember to take it one day at a time or even just one hour at a time and maybe the overwhelm feelings won't feel so overwhelming. Take care and stay strong.
anyway...ive had this pretty bad cold for about a week...well, i seem to be 'somewhat' better except for a stuffed and very runny nose (i know...tmi) and a pretty bad cough...i have an appt. on monday, but its for a follow up on my pap smear... im 12 weeks pregnant and the coughing(mostly in the evenings and the morning) is so bad sometimes that it makes me throw up (ive only actually thrown up twice, but ive gagged and 'almost'thrown up a few times) ...
Sometimes infections, either viral or bacterial, can have a residual effect and cause lung irritation for a long time.
My wife has had a very severe cough for more than a month. It primarily occurs at night - every night, sometimes several times a night and rarely in the morning. It is so severe that it leads to vomiting and panic level shortness of breath. It is prohibiting any restful sleep and keeps her awake for hours afterword causing fatigue throught the day. There is some phlegm with the cough. She is 42, a smoker, is allergic to cats and dogs although we have had a 4 lb yorkie for 4.

He will be perfectly OK, then his head will suddenly fill with fluid, it runs down his throat, and the tickling of his throat by the fluid is what causes the coughing, which goes then nonstop for 2-3 hours. Recently a nurse sent us to the ER, and we found that a nebulizer treatment, including a steroid and albuterol, didn't help much, but the A/C in the car did. His doctor has diagnosed RAD, his spirometry showed normal function, and we are waiting to see an allergist.
I'm normally a healthy 22 year old woman with no long or short term illnesses or diseases. I maybe a little over weight, but nothing too significant. But for the last 3-4 days I have had this constant cough where I can't stop and eventually end up vomiting. Earlier this week I had the flu and thought I was developing strep throat. Went to the doctors and did a test and it was negative and they told me it was a 'viral strep.' The doctor also listened to my lungs and said they sounded great.
The cough isn't very productve but sometimes I cough up white, thick sputum. Also when I took my daughter in for a flu shot and got in a coughing fit there her dr. said I sounded like I had pertusis. Is it normal for the cough to last that long with bronchitis? I had bronchitis a lot in the past but it always go better after the predisone and antibiotic. I know I should go back to my dr.
Inhale the steam through your nose and out through your mouth. Do this 4 times a day for a duration of 10 minutes each time. The doctor can prescribe medication to dry up the mucus, but these medications are not suitable for everyone and should not be taken by anyone who has high blood pressure. Sometimes a nasal spray can help, but these should not be used long term unless advised by your doctor. If you eat and drink a lot of dairy produce, reduce the amount that you have.
Hello, I am 32 years old male and have had a cough for a 2-3 years now. I don't know what started it, what changed to start it., or why it happens. I am tired of coughing all the time and am sure the people around me are tired of hearing it. I went to a doctor who tested me or allergies and said I am allergic to nothing. She did a chest xray which came back clear as well. I have constant sinus drainage and my cough usually gets me gasping for breath when I laugh...odd I know.
Establish a rhythm and do for 20 to 30 minutes twice a day. Children under 15 years – do 5 to 10 minutes twice a day. Not for pregnant women. Seriously ill people do it gently.
