Coughing cat runny eyes

Common Questions and Answers about Coughing cat runny eyes

coughing

Your cats runny eyes and sneezing may very well be associated with Feline Upper Respiratory Complex which is usually associated with the viruses contained in the cat annual vaccination series offered by veterinarians. Seeing your vet and being sure your cat is up to date on shots would be a wise choice.
What I don't understand is that we have had our cat for about three months now and his only reaction has been the tipical sneezing, watery eyes, and runny nose. However, this syptom seems to extreme. He will cough for hours, he is up all night and keeps me up with his coughing. He coughs to the point that there is no phlem left. He is also a smoker. Although he is not coughing up blood, I believe this may be early signs of lung cancer. Can this be correct?
Ds is severly allergic to cats, itchy, red swelling eyes, runny nose, asthma attacks. He started allergy shots (3 shots every Friday) for that along with shots for Dogs, 5 different tree pollens, 5 different bees, a wasp, dust mites. Any time he'd go outside and play with one of the barn kitties he'd get sick. And sometimes end up with a sinus infection. He's also on DDAVP for bloody noses, Singulair, Patonal, Flonase, Allegra, Flovent, Albuterol, and topical cream for eczema.
2 days later the runny nose was gone and the puffy eyes were getting better...and his breathing was better as well...so far i think i have found one of his triggers...
I am constantly straining muscles from the intense coughing, I've coughed up blood twice. I finally had a CAT scan and it shows that my lungs are fine, except from some harmless scarring from prolonged coughing. Antibiotics have no effect on the cough. I've used Tussionex (codeine cough syrup) for years, but drs. don't like to prescribe it, so I use it when I can't stand it any more to make it last. The cough leaves me so exhausted, and my muscles painful, and it's almost impossible to sleep.
I get a sore throat (not tonsils but when you swallow) I now go straight on antibiotics and use Bricanyl inhaler although it doesnt seem to have much effect except to cause alot of mucus coughed up from the lungs. It causes me to have spasm coughing and if I cannot control this to 3 or 4 coughs my windpipe closes over making it hard to breath in or out. The last one about 2 years ago stopped me breathing in and out completely for 10 to 15 seconds and I thought I had bought it.
My husband has been having skin rashes around his eyes, raised small red bumps, for several months and just won
He has the runny eyes, loud breathing, some coughing, snoring. He is also missing several teeth but my guess it was from his previous environment. Even with teeth missing, he prefers crunchy food to wet. Does not present with diarreha or vomiting.
My husband and I do not let the child go to her house because we think that it is a risk and do not want to take a chance with the child's health. My child has gone to her house and come out with a runny nose and red eyes. We think that the child's health is more important than going to her house. Please give me information to help her understand just how serious Astma can be and how it can scar my child's lungs. Thanks for the help!
Other symptoms of a kitty with URI include coughing, runny nose and watery eyes. Antibiotics is one of the things that could help your cat get through this, but you'd have to go to the vet. For home remedies and alternatives, here is a link, but I would ask a vet first. Not that I don't trust home remedies. It's just for confirmation purposes. You don't want to waste your time on something that may not work for your cat although it may work for others. http://www.holisticat.com/uri.
(I was told to by my vet) my kitten is still kinda geting over cat flu she has manky eyes, but the vet said if she gets a runny nose and starts sneezing take her straight back and they will put her on Antibiotics. So just in case.... But things are looking good.... :) Wooohooo. But all 5 being ill.. woah, I thought It was bad mine being born with Cat flu, but it never got passed on to the others.
I have a 13 YO cat who has had a runny nose for quite some time. He's eaten fine and slept and his activity level has been the same, so I haven't worried about it. The mucus used to be thin and clear, but it has recently thickened and turned greenish. I am going to start giving him amoxicillin tonight, but I wanted to share another thing I found that works, to clear out his nose. I had a small baby-sized nasal syringe and thought it wouldn't work to try.
It then progresses into chest congestion or travels up into the ears and the sinuses. You’ll have a low grade fever, mild chills, and a runny nose. Even if you start out with a runny nose, eventually, you’ll have throat symptoms later on. Sounds like a classic cold, right? When you see your doctor, throat redness and irritation and swollen glands are noted, confirming even further that you’re in the middle of a standard upper respiratory infection, or the common cold.
Every morning I wake up with a runny nose and am coughing. As soon as I leave the dorm to go to classes that subsides and I'm pretty fine. But I've developed a constant cough now and I'm kind of worried. I've heard rumors of asbestos and whatnot but I feel like they would tell us about it or evacuate if that's what it was.
I hear this beep even after I leave work and sometimes it wakes me up at night. I don't have a lot of nasal congestion nor a runny nose. When my coughing starts, it comes on all of the sudden and it's dry and mostly hacking, then my eyes begin to water. I take Nexium for acid reflux (about 8 years now) and I don't suffer from heartburn b/c I take it faithfully. Can someone please help?
The final interesting thing to me with this article is a 1998 study published in the New Zealand Medical Journal. This study found cat hair on 100% of the seats sampled on domestic flights. My questions are this: How many seats on each flight were sampled and do New Zealanders really fly with their cats that often?? I think a lot more study needs to be done before we consign all of our pets to the cargo hold.
Last fall I noticed many of them sneezing, and they have leaky eyes and now that winter is here they are really coughing and sneezing with eyes and noses that are leaking. I feel so sorry for them and I don't know what they have? I have been giving them lots of warm meals and cleaning their eyes and noses. Thank you.
I believe it was when she was around 7-8 months I was in the ped office 1-2 times per week in one month for her continuous coughing. The doctor put her on anit's and when I had asked if possible she could have asthma (I suffered, as well as her father) they told me she was too young and I was over reacting. 3 weeks into it, I found myself in the ER with her b/c she was continuously vomitting. Sure enough the ER doc took one listen and said "this child can't breath".
It grows on wood and paper (like the paper covering over wallboard) and it is the mytotoxins produced by the mold that cause trouble, generally in the form of typical allergic reactions; i.e., runny nose, sneezing, runny eyes, etc. Here is a web page about stachybotrys and resulting symptoms: http://www.idph.state.il.us/envhealth/factsheets/stachybotrys.htm As with any allergy or toxic reaction, once the patient is removed from the irritant, rapid improvement is generally seen.
Everyday i wake full of phelm in my mouth and within 30 mins i'm having sneezing fits, runny nose, watery eyes, sore throat and ear problems, which can last all day. My room is a dust trap! It gathers so much dust constantly, it's so hard to keep up with, no matter how hard i try, it's just everywhere, so me and my Mum assume i have a dust allergy, since whenever i'm in my room all the symptom's come and when the heating come's on it also trigger's it.
Ragweed, pollen, cat dander, and even dust produce symptoms such as runny nose, sneezing, watery eyes, etc. Two weeks later, I was still not feeling better. My burning throat, lungs, and airway persisted, and I was still feeling very run-down and achy. My primary care doc prescribed a Z pack that did not help. Lung x-ray returned clear, some standard blood work came back ok. I had not run in 2 weeks. Had quite a bit of post nasal drip. Get hoarse when I talk very much.
At the peds today I asked him what I could give Lily for her runny nose and he said that there really wasn't a whole lot. Apparently the FDA is cracking down on makers of infant/toddler cold meds saying there isn't any research that they actually help. According to my ped the FDA is making these drug companies pull their meds and do the studies before they can continue manufacturing them. I had noticed that certain medicines were disappearing and hard to find.
Since last year starting kindergarten he has had croup, or RAD every 2-3 weeks. Whenever he catches a cold or gets a runny nose we know he will end up at pediatrician or ER eventially, and be prescribed predisolone (along with his usual mediacations singulair, pulmicort, and xopenex). He always ends up on predisolone, or decadron, even at the ER ephedrine (neb). He has had his tonsils and adenoids removed.
So if he only got ill upon seeing you and then after you left he felt fine that would sound more like an allergy. However his symptoms do not sound like allergy either. Asthma, runny nose, itchy eyes, sore throat, coughing, irritation on skin are some allergy symptoms. Pain is usually not.
I am a 33 year female and since Sept, I have been having the itchy throat sensation which inevitably leads to coughing for at least a minute, running eyes, running nose, incontenance and throwing up. I once threw up on myself at the Humane Society and today I had to stop my car because I thought I was going to throw up! It's a very embarassing disorder, whatever it is. When it starts to come on, I start to feel panicked and want to run.
00pm Yawning real bad and shoulders ache like crazy, eyes watering real bad legs hurt stomach feels on fire, this yawning is driving me mad, and hot/cold shivers, ( must stick at it ) Sunday 01;00am Weeping has calmed, but keep wanting to be sick to rid my body of the food, runny nose/sniffles and real bad wind, feel sick now, stomach aches. Sunday 01:30am back to bed, went for a drive, could not stand crazy arms and legs any longer.
Oh, this is so much fun! Gotta keep our eyes on the PRIZE and deal with these inconveniences along the way.
Just after Christmas 07 my 40mg 2x a day started, then I caught a virus, and was very ill, and it just would not go away, nausea, aches and pains all over, I blamed it all on this virus, never really suspecting the real culprit, yes you know don't you, it was because I had cut down on the oxycontin, and my body was craving it, this went on for 7 weeks, until one day it dawned on me what it was, by this time I had become tired all the time, getting up early and doing nothing, then backwards and
Symptons include very deep and productive cough, - night time coughing fits - runny nose - (clear mucous) dizziness, ear ache, sinus pain and headache. Generally tired and lothargic. My 27 year old son has it as well and is also on his third antibiotic. Hot tea and honey help the cough but after going years with no colds whatsoever, I am really really tired of this. This is the first year I ever had a flu shot. Not sure I will do another.
My daughter also has periodic outbreaks of severe hives extended from her chest to her face, hands, and mouth, followed by severe coughing( hard enough to make her gag) runny nose, and her eyes swelling up. The cause of these outbreaks are unknown at this time. My child's allergist is reluctant to do allergy testing on her because she is so young (He did do the wheat test though). My daughter had an extrmely violent reaction to a cat.
