Common Questions and Answers about Coughing blood up in the morning

coughing

About a week ago I started to develop Bronchitis. Then about five days ago, I started coughing up blood in the morning only. I went to the doctor the next day and he seemed pretty unconcerned. I am SLOWLY getting over the bronchitis (The cold id gone), but I still cough up blodd first thing in the morning. It seems to be from higher in my bronchials, because as the cough gets deeper, the blood goes away. I have been coughing rather violently since the night before the blood started.
You said you coughed up a little bit of blood in the morning about two days ago. You also said this has happened before. Perhaps its time to make a doctor's appointment to discuss this. Myself, I would want to know where the blood is coming from and why. Good luck to you.
He has now referred me to ENT at the hospital. I have now developed tinnitus also but this morning after getting up coughed up about 1 tablespoon of bright red blood. What on earth could it be, can anyone help? Should l go back to the docs with this new info or should l wait to see the ENT (probably about 6 weeks)?
When he does, the coughing is prolonged and intense, then it stops. This morning he was coughing again and some mucus came up with a trace of what appeared to be blood in it. He is a little slower than usual and he still has an appetite, but not the same as before. Any ideas?

Hello, About 2 weeks ago I picked up a common cold from my husband, just a couple of days ago, I've noticed that in the mornings when I wake up, I've been coughing up blood. It doesn't last all day, it's only immediately after waking and I start coughing. The rest of the day my phlegm is clear with maybe a tiny speck of blood occasionally. I feel an irritation and fullness in my throat, although my chest feels clear, and there is wheezing (in my throat).
On about 5 different ocasions I have coughed up blood in the morning when I wake up. This morning it was a bit different, there was a lil more of it and it seemed to be just blood. Any ideas what this could be? I'm pretty hard headed about going to the doctor. But I'm really concerned now and I think its the best thing to do. The blood scares me, but the way I lose my breath scares me more.
After it ended I began couging up a small about of blood. In all it probably measured up to almost a tablespoon, and then ended. The next morning my chest felt like someone had hit me with a baseball bat, but could have been from working out. I went to the doctor the following day and he listened to my lungs, did the normal pushing of my stomach, checked ear, nose, and throat, and ran some blood tests. He did not do a chest x-ray, and didn't seem interested in doing one.
Hello and hope you are doing well. The major cause of coughing up blood is chronic bronchitis or bronchiectasis. Other possible causes of coughing up blood include COPD, lung cancer, tuberculosis, pulmonary embolism, pneumonia and lung abscess to name a few. Also, check to see if he is on blood thinners for heart disease, this could be causing the bleeding. I suggest he should go the ER, for immediate evaluation. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

Once I'd finished it's left me with a very soar throat and I'm coughing up blood every now and again, it's not excessive amount. I've also noticed that the skin around my left eye had lots of dark red patches and they seem to be all over my face but less dense. I do feel slightly drowsy also. Should I be going to see my doctor on this one or can you explain why this is happening.

To be fair to my husband I get up and go in the other room to sleep. I can't even list all of the other problems that this aggravates, a few are incontinence, lower back problems with sciatica down both legs. I have had other health issues such as prolactinoma(treated with parlodel approx 6 months before I became pregnant, three surgeries for ovarian cysts (dermoid, ruptured, etc.) I would welcome an appointment with any doctor who would listen and try to get to the bottom of this.
He is still coughing up blood. It seems to happen mostly in the morning. He has a history of Acid Reflux disease. He is taking acifex everyday to deal with that. He had a test to make sure that he had no damage to his esphoagas. The doctor thought that if he continued to cough up blood, that he should go to a lung specialist. I am wondering if it has something to do with his stomach, since he has had problems with it for over 10 years. Maybe the antibiotic and acifex caused irritation.
Also, the coughing seems to be worse right after I eat and when I wake in the morning. Is it possible for excess phlegm and mucas to drain into my lungs? Should my lungs clear this without me having to cough so much? I am wondering if you think these symptoms are due to post nasal drip, GERD, or possibly something more serious like Chronic Bronchitis.
Im 20w6d and was just given meds to help with nausea because I was throwing up so bad that I ended up coughing up blood. It was just broken capillaries in my throat. Nothing to worry about. But still call your doctor.
