synthroid

Avatar m tn I have been taking Levothyroxine for 3 years. At that point I started having diarrhea. My doctor said that diarrhea was not a side effect of this medicine, and that I must be gluten intolerant or lactose intolerant. So for years I've been changing my diet, with no steady results. Whatever I ate, or did not eat, I still had diarrhea. So as a last resort, I stopped taking levothyroxine three days ago. I feel great !! I have so much energy and guess what? NO diarrhea !!!
Avatar n tn It is sold in powder packets for humans for poison ivy but what you do is mix a 1packet with about 6-8oz of luke warm water and use an oral syringe and squirt it into the dogs ears twice a day. Massage the ear real good and wipe out solution and gunk with some gauze. This will help change the ph in the ear and dry it out but use solution for one day then mix fresh the next day. Do this before putting the drops in that you get from your vet.
Avatar m tn My dog has had hypothyroidism for several years and has been on 0.2 mg of Levothyroxine twice daily ever since. Recently, when they did a check on his T4 they found that it was low and they increased it immediately to 0.4 mg. A week or two later he began to significantly pant and wheeze. Then he decided to give him 150 mg of Theophylline twice daily. Could the thyroid dose change have caused these symptoms or is it a coincidence?
7991152 tn?1396061810 S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the use of generic levothyroxine made by a number of different pharmaceutical companies. The various brand name and generic tablets of levothyroxine may differ in how much levothyroxine they contain; how much of the levothyroxine is absorbed into your body; and, how much levothyroxine circulates in your body.
168348 tn?1379357075 Levothyroxine is the generic name for Levothyroxine. :-) Levothroid, Levoxyl, Unithroid, Synthroid, Euthyrox, Tirosint, are all name brand drugs that use levothyroxine as the active ingredient. I've heard of Levo-T, but I'm not sure what that falls under. I'm sure this is only a partial list.
Avatar f tn s previous medical records that I like to have titers ran first, before I vaccinate my dogs for other diseases. He told me that I was wise and explained to me that, because of the research and his own personal testing on this, he has started to recommend to patients to check their pet's titer first to make sure that they don't need an unnecessary vaccination. I can only tell you that every time I've done this, my pet's titers were always within normal range.
Avatar n tn Our dog had lots of complications, 4 days in the hospital, more than a week of IV antibiotics...lots of things. There is a program called CareCredit (you can google it) that is a credit card that can only be used for either vet bills or medical bills. You could see if you qualify.
Avatar n tn her vet does not feel it is malignant but for precautionary measures would like to send it out for testing. the problem is the price of the surgery with the lab testing will be over $2,000.00. I do not have that kind of money! I love my girl so much and am heartbroken and crying as I write this. I have never spared any costs in the past for providing the best care possible for her, but now, things have changed and i'm living paycheck to paycheck.
Avatar m tn Dialysis for dogs has been available for about 10yrs. The cost is often prohibitive for most people, being around £25,000 for the initial treatment alone. Kidney transplants are also now available for dogs, though their success is not guaranteed - and in fact they are far less successful than in cats having the same operation. It may be difficult to find a canine medical centre able to offer this unusual treatment, but they are out there if you do your research.
Avatar f tn 0 usually) before pregancy on a stable dose of a levothyroxine product (brand preferred in pregnancy for consistency), with expectation of increasing the dose by 25-40% during pregnancy (usually within first 16 weeks). Test TSI during second trimester - if >3-5 x higher than upper end of normal (not common), then fetal ultrasound and close following with high-risk OB is usually indicated.
Avatar m tn I have gotten my dog cold laser therapy for her allergies and auto immune disease. I've also seen it done on dogs for hip dysplasia and arthritis, epilepsy, other allergy dogs, and on dogs post surgery to speed up healing. On every other dog that I either witnessed personally or read the testimonies of (which were about 20 in all) it worked moderate to very well. In my dog, it did not work. She had 4 weeks of treatment. I felt the laser myself and it feels like nothing at all.
Avatar f tn s not usually the levothyroxine (the active ingredient in replacement thyroid hormone medications) that causes people to have trouble taking them. Typically, the problem is fillers, binders or dyes. There are a number of manufacturers of Levothyroxine and each one uses different ingredients, except for the levo, itself. For instance, Synthroid uses acacia and corn starch, either of which bothers many people... I didn't do well on Synthroid, but I do well on Levoxyl.
97615 tn?1212678589 I would drive as far as needed to get the RIGHT home for any of my rescues. It was well worth it. There was a cost (I had no control over that part). I was the one that went to the Animal Control and had to choose which ones would not die that day. I took them home and had ALL spayed and neutered, all shots and treatments (if needed) were all given. They all got homes that I would have loved to have lived in myself. I had 13 cats, kittens, puppies and dogs all at one time. ALL BY MYSELF.
612551 tn?1450022175 My 22 pound (ouch, he's gaining weight, now 10% overweight) had his annual physical last week. It included a bunch of tests including a "senior" blood test and 4 prescription medications for yeast (feet - I have posted here on feet licking), an antihistamine (I had been giving him 1/2 Benadryl for feet licking) an antibiotic pill and ointment for an ear infection. And notice the dog needs to have his teeth cleaned. That visit cost $400 and change - ouch.
Avatar n tn The new Aetna plan I am on is charging me $50 per month and I am told that I can take Levothyroxine Sodium for only $10 a month. Is there any downside to switching to this generic alternative?
Avatar f tn t growing correctly is being blocked by a joint as the other bone is continuing to grow. We were told that surgery for the leg was going to cost around 2000 to 3000 dollars. Unfortunately, I wasn't there for the second vet visit so I never got the name of Max's condition. The details that were given to me about the condition was told by my parents and they can't tell me the name of his condition. Based on the vague information given, what would be the condition of Max's leg?
6669309 tn?1462648142 Yes all dogs love to stop and sniff! But look on the bright side...it's not as bad as walking a CAT!! lol! Tony's idea of having Rusty beside you more as you walk, and keeping the movement going -is quite a good one. That doesn't mean he gets no 'sniff and mark' time, but just that you get moving more, I think. Are there any woods, fields, large grassy areas where he can play frisbee or fetch games? Would he come back to you immediately if whistled or called?
Avatar n tn Hi Dr. I have ringing and pressure in my left ear along with an inflammed feeling in my thyroid gland. I feel horrible and everyday it's a struggle to keep going. Even my gums ache. I've been to the ent for the ringing in my ear and sinusitis. I use a neti pot and just finished antibiotics but I'm still no better. Now it seems my sinuses are better but my thyroid is burning. I am hypothyroid and I'm on levothyroxine .050.
Avatar f tn Looked through the link Karla referenced and cannot believe some of the charges and some of those were years ago. I do know it can depend on the Vet and where you live. My Vet has always been pretty reasonable over the many years I gave gone to him. However, with the population growth here and him updating his clinic and equipment, etc, I now pay twice what I used to for teeth cleanings! That being said, friends of mine in different areas of the country can pay 2 -3 times what I pay here.
436837 tn?1293793226 Almost not cancerous for sure, but if we wanted to remove it for cosmetic reasons, or if she keeps scratching at it, would cost like $800-$900. I'm going to have to give that tree oil a shot.
Avatar m tn t see why maybe 68 should be fine and invest in a couple of sweaters. A lot of little dogs like to burrow. Check out a couple of the cheaper stores and see if you can pick up a couple of those fleece type baby blankets to put in the dog bed. Those are warm and wash up well. I have a little dog now and have those in her bed.
82861 tn?1333453911 Food. You can't get away with feeding the cheapest food you can find because your pet is "just a dog." You won't have a healthy dog if basic nutrition requirements are not met. A dog who isn't in good health is far more likely to get sick and cost you a heck of a lot more in vet bills down the line. Take a look a dog food prices and read labels before you adopt. Get a general idea of how much money will need to be spent on a weekly or monthly basis.
Avatar n tn Periodontal disease is common in dogs over the age of 3.....If there is a loose tooth, your dog has some form of disease..... First, you need to schedule a dental cleaning w/extraction if necessary. If there is an infection going on, antibiotics will be used.... After that, you need to brush their teeth if possible. I personally use a product called" Petzlife" gel. I love it! Left untreated, periodontal disease will cause Heart related problems in the future!
Avatar n tn I knew about my allergies to cats and dogs because I had gone through allergy shots in 1982. Because of my allergies, I have no animals at home. The allergist diagnosed "non-allergic rhinitis." Througout these last few weeks, I only feel some relief when I am taking Prednisone. As soon as I am off of it, the very acute symptoms begin all over again. Since I take no other medication, or vitamin, I thought I might have a chemical allergy to the Synthroid.
Avatar f tn So due to congress i no longer have health insurance, and my checkup to re-test my thyroid and renew my pescription for 75mcg levothyroxine is up and i can't go in, since no insurance for visit and for prescription, Worried about what will happen when my meds run out next week! Money is very very low as we live off an income of $900 for a family of 5 one member being only 1yrs old.
