Avatar n tn Last year I stared getting ingrown hairs in my face pretty much out of nowhere. I really did not have acne problems before this began. I have been using duac gel and it reallt has not gotten much better. I have been told that laser treatment would be a great choice. Avatar n tn Ablation of lesions using pulsed dye laser may be performed for cosmesis. The use of a pulsed dye laser with a green light source allows selective absorption of the laser energy by the hemoglobin contained within the red blood cells and subsequent obliteration of the vascular lumen. Cryotherapy: Cryotherapy is a less well-controlled means by which lesions are eliminated through irritation, coagulation, and subsequent destruction.

988694 tn?1332359479 The response, success and cost of these laser treatments depends on the melanin deposits and the area involved. For this it is best to discuss it with your dermatologist. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your dermatologist. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar m tn Only a dermatologist can tell you, laser treatment is used for scars now , you will need to see one and get an evaluation of cost ..
Avatar n tn I did finish accutane about 3 months ago which cleared up my acne but all of this redness is just terrible and looks like i still have cystic acne. Now im just totally depressed about this if its true. Is this true that i'll have to look like this for the rest of my life? I thought redness fades with time? does it not? Do you know anything about laser treatments and how much they average? Are they very effective? whats your stand on laser and is it safe?
Avatar n tn Hi Dr. Rockoff I am a 26 year old guy who has experiecned acne for half my life, probably even more. I went on accutane 3 times, ages 15, 17 and 20. After that I have tried proactiv and every medication a dermatologist could imagine. Nothing besides accutane ever worked. At this point, I don't see myself growing out of it. I went to get a facial last week and the aesthetician said that I don't have oily skin and that what I have is not acne but ingrown hairs.
Avatar n tn The excess hair on the face can be reduced by the laser hair removal...however, I do not think any insurance will cover the cost of it seeing they have it listed under "cosmetic". I've heard of hair removal creams I think it's called Vanic (sp?). That can be given by a dermotolgist. Metformin should help, it's one of the most common given medications for those who have PCOS. I take that along with Yasmin bc.
Avatar n tn Hello, There are various methods like shaving, bleaching, depilatory creams, electrolysis or laser hair removal are available to remove the hair.Out of all these laser hair removal is the most long lasting.Nd YAG laser is very effective in long term reduction of hair.Risks include the chance of burning the skin or discoloring dark skin with the laser, hypopigmentation (white spots), and flare of acne. Avatar n tn m thinking 5 procedures to substantially decrease sebum + a topical retinoid to normalize keratinization + an anti-inflammatory antibiotic to tackle all of the acne causes. I have an appointment to discuss this with my derm., however, I can't get in for 2 months.... Would you have any concerns with permanent destruction of the sebaceous glands in the long run? I've read they are an evolutionary relic, but I have worries of other atopic dermatitis developing upon there destruction (i.e.
Avatar n tn It has a lot of information on PWSs and treatment options for it, along with a list of doctors who are familiar with treatment for it. Insurance should cover much of the cost, but that has to be discussed with the doctor.
Avatar f tn Hello, The problem of enlarged pores on face or facial pores is commonly associated with excessive oiliness and acne. The excessive oiliness of the skin is in turn triggered by the hormonal changes in the body. Large pores can be easily dealt with proper cleansing and frequent toning and moisturizing of the skin. Other treatments to consider include microdermabrasion, skin resurfacing lasers and chemical skin peels.
Avatar m tn t think I would have gotten a better result with laser-assisted, at least not worth its cost. It was a higher out of pocket cost than for the premium toric lens which was $1333 out of pocket. With insurance, the basic surgery and basic lens costs ended up only around $350 for my part of the cost in comparison.

1123156 tn?1338863369 if you can afford it i suggest the laser treatments. im actually going tomorrow for my first session. at MY place they are $100 to $150 per session and you need 2-5 sessions depending on how bad they are and how many you have. they won't be completely gone but they will fade to the point where you can't see them. they also have a different laser that can change their texture...and almost get rid of the indentions that stretch marks make.

Avatar f tn I am a 35 year old caucasian woman. I had laser hair removal done with the final session in May 2010. I avoided the sun last summer due to the fact that I was on a topical cream to treat a mild case of perioral dermatitis. I have had significant sun exposure this year, and have developed a clearly defined area of dark pigmentation on my upperlip. It basically looks like a hairless mustache. There is no other blotchiness on my face at all.
Avatar m tn He is also the only surgeon that offers a laser alternative as opposed to standard removal of cataracts. The cost of this is an additional 750.00 per eye. I have so far elected not to do the laser upgrade. Any thoughts or comments on the above would be appreciated. In addition I can function well with glasses. The only problem I am experiencing now is halos...around lights at night. A few of the questions I have are....
Avatar n tn I believe it must have happened when they first shaved my face (standard procedure for laser hair removal)- yet the shaving opened all the little acne bumps and must have allowed it to spread. Someone mentioned diabetes and menstral cycle problems. I have very irregular periods and have been diagnosed with " PCOS " (a pre-diabetic stage). I know my facial hair is rooted to this problem, yet I do not know how to fix it.
Avatar n tn There are different kinds of scars. Laser treatment can be effective for scars. It has become more popular and effective.
