There is no advantage in paying the added cost of a Combo test vs a standard ELISA.

The HIV testing is country specific and the TEST specific...e.g. In UK the window period is 12 weeks, in US the window period is 13 weeks while in India it is said to be 6 months...Also the nature of test conducted like HIV Duo will give result in 28 days et al creates confusion among the people...it means if somebody in UK is negative in UK and if he moves in India the risk is still there....can u guys pls clarify ?

Kumar - U can test with CMIA Duo which is a antigen and antibody test, known as Combo test. In India it would cost Rs.350 - 400 its accurate at 28 days.In India the Window period is 6 MONTHS and not 3 months (its how the guidelines are formulated but around the world its 3 months) Old and inconsisitent Testing technology, unreliability with no standardization are the reasons for these guidelines.) CMIA is a not a diagnostic test but a screening test.
