172023 tn?1334672284 I have good shoes, fitted professionally and have had them observe my gait and foot strike, that seems fine. I think I just flat overdid it. I would like to continue short walks, but if it would be better to totally not do it for a week, I would. Thanks for any advice.
338416 tn?1420045702 s quite foot drop yet, but I certainly have to *think* about lifting my foot up. They make a foot brace that would hold my foot up, but it's plastic and clunky. I don't think I would have started running again if it wasn't for the weight. I get so frustrated, because I'm really trying to restrict my calories, and it doesn't do a bit of good. Working out on the trainer was exercise, but it just wasn't enough. I'm starting to wonder if I have a thyroid problem.
Avatar f tn They call look at all sorts of other things like the shoes you wear, how your muscles are strength wise and how you strike your foot. That is all super technical in my opinion. But if you have a trainer and a good running shoe store, you can get some great advice. If this becomes chronic, you should see an orthopedic doctor for guidance. good luck and happy racing!
Avatar f tn A few days after the symptom relief, I was playing basketball and tried to do a spinning maneuver while simultaneously elevating off of my right foot. I had neglected to properly stretch and I felt a very sharp, sudden stretching, tearing pain in my pelvic area. It felt like a muscle or ligament pulling. The pain radiated into my genitals and when I pressed on my pubic area I felt a tenderness. I tried to stretch it off and continue to play but it limited my mobility so badly I had to quit.
Avatar n tn The act of running produces a good amount of impact on foot strike. The up and down shaking of the stomach can produce a feeling in the stomach and possible cramping. This may take time for a runner to get used to but can be helped if you take some precautions about what you drink and eat prior to and after each run. "Exercise physiologist Kitty Consolo, PhD, is cited in Valente's article as suggesting that changes in your diet before a run may need to be made.
Avatar f tn The shin muscles can also be somewhat alleviated by footwear and choice of surface. Runners who strike heavily with the heel should look for shoes which provide ample rear foot cushioning. Such shoes may be referred to as "stability" or "motion control" shoes. The so-called "neutral" shoes for bio-mechanically efficient runners may not have adequate support in the heel, because the runners for whom these shoes are intended do not require it.
Avatar m tn One possibility is unaccustomed exercise—so increase your pace slowly. Another possibility is wrong foot wear. So change the foot wear and see and buy good quality sports shoes means for running and jogging. Other than this you could have developed a slipped disc or suffering from spondylosis which ahs worsened by constant running. This needs to be ruled out through X-rays and MRI.
Avatar n tn Since this tingling sensation is in the foot this compression could be at the level of foot, leg or hip. This could quite possibly be sciatica. I would advise you to consult a doctor as soon as possible as you need to undergo a complete physical and neurological examination. Also please take rest and do some simple back exercises.
1017324 tn?1390936445 Over-straining the foot as in running could be the cause. Foot pain can also be due to arthritis. Faulty foot wear is another cause: the top portion of the foot could be rubbing against the shoes. Since a confirmed diagnosis cannot be given on net please consult your doctor regarding this. Hope this helps. Take care! The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you.

675347 tn?1365460645 It has hit her hard, and she has spent 99% of today on a lovely bed by a log fire being waited on hand and foot. (And she is the sort of dog who likes to spend 99% of her time running about outside! So no prizes for anyone who can spot the difference!) But she has eaten, and shows a lot of interest in food. She's on antibiotics twice a day. She walks very very carefully out to poop and pee, and is very ready to get back to bed.
17507144 tn?1457325060 I've had what my Dr. Called a plantars wart on the bottom of my foot for well over a year now. Avatar f tn the toe of my running shoe (yes it made that sound) on the treadmill. Drop foot (or foot drop) is caused by weakness that can be distal (ankle flexion) and/or proximal (hip) or both -- my situation. It also has different causes -- the most common causes are peripheral nerve issues such as diabetes or injury. It can also be caused by central nervous system weakness. Do you have weakness?
Avatar n tn My grandmother had this (but it can strike at an early age too). Typically someone who has this has high cholesterol and triglyceride type levels. What happens with it is the plaque builds up in a blood vessel until the blood vessel becomes blocked. Then portion of the blood vessel below the block dies from lack of oxygenation. Ischemic pain (pain from lack of oxygen to tissue) is extremely painful. My sister recently heard they can put stents in a person's leg.
Avatar n tn The clarity and thoroughness of your posted question directly relates to the quality of answer you will receive. There is so little information to go on its impossible to even strike a guess as to what's wrong.
Avatar n tn feels that losing my longus is causing the foot to strike incorrectly, putting undue pressure on the lateral plantar foot. He also said he had never seen a neuroma in the 4th interspace. I'm wondering if a nerve is pinched somewhere? Any thoughts would be much appreciated.
Avatar m tn Help. i woke up on Wed and couldn't go to work because my foot was so sore (where big toe joint is, and ball). Took 4 ibprofrin and hobbled into work 3 hours later. Got through day. Next morning i woke up at 3 am with more pain than i could fathom. Foot was red and very swollen. Excrutiating. Caught taxi to Dr. he said i have gout? blood tests showed normal uric acid level. Avatar f tn I have been suffering with debilitating foot pain for almost two years. First diagnose was Plantar Fasciitis and I was treated with injections and a walker boot and also PT. Six months later I was diagnosed with fractures in both heels and have been in two casts, crutches and another walking boot. I am still in pain! I just had an MRI that shows Marrow Edema in four bones of my foot. What does this mean? I do not see the Dr. again for two weeks!
Avatar f tn Is running on a treadmill for 30 mins a day a good way to start loosing weight ? I currently do no excersise at all.....and what is a good way to loose stomach weight ??? Help me please.im 17 and 166 lbs...im only 5 foot tall...and I look horrible...
Avatar f tn the physical therapist thinks it is a compensatory reaction because I am flexing my foot too much to try and bring that weaker leg thru when running. I had MRI which showed abnormal signal intensity within the muscle and adjacent tissues at the junction of the middle and distal third of the long head of the biceps femoris. No full thickness tear is seen. what does this indicate? I would think I would see some improvement by now and I still feel the lagging tightness even when I walk fast.
2143641 tn?1396678143 thank you. circumstances have changed and I ceased the hunger-strike but I want to keep a diet the way you suggested!
2143641 tn?1396678143 thank you Gracie, that is really interesting! I do need to lose weight but this is only coincidental with a hunger strike, so I won't be having regular meal for a unknown period of time. that's why my weight is dropping so fast.
Avatar n tn Hi, I am recovering from a partial menisectomy of my lateral meniscus in my right knee, Although it went great and I am DELIGHTED to be back running again, I was recently informed that I lost 40-50 percent of my meniscus during surgery because it was so torn up. Does this mean that osteoarthritis is inevitable in my near future? I am only 16, and hope to be running as long as I can. :( Is it possible that osteoarthritis could end my pain-free life at age 30?
