Coreg with lisinopril

Common Questions and Answers about Coreg with lisinopril

coreg

Avatar f tn I still want children very badly and was told that basically, there were meds that I can take instead of Lisinopril, but I would have to stop taking Coreg. Of course, I would just have to see how I would do without Coreg... Are there any alternatives to Coreg?
Avatar n tn Both lisinopril and Coreg are pretty strong drugs. You are taking very doses, but they certainly can be the cause of a lot of side effects. The good news is your body generally can adapt, and the drugs can remodel the heart... at least they did for me. I eventually was taking 10mg of lisinopril and 50 mg of Coreg. Headaches are definitely associated with drugs like Isosorbide (Imdur), angina meds like Ranexa and of course Nitro pills, especially if combined with alcohol.
Avatar f tn Lisinopril and Metoprolol when I left the hospital, now Lisinopril and carvedilol (coreg). seems like a relatively common combination.
Avatar f tn The EF is a new finding as of Jan. 2011. My blood pressure drops too low with the coreg 3.125 mg and lisinopril at 2.5 mg taken at the same time along with the aldactone. No one ever questioned why i had afib at 28.
Avatar n tn There is some misunderstanding...my fault. I take coreg with lisinopril to lower heart rate and lower blood pressure. Coreg can lower the HR, and as you know, I very slow heart rate can cause clots, and with MVR an individual is more vulnerable. My docotor wants my BP as low as possible without side effects such as passing out!. And I believe the lowest possible BP is generally the goal as you stated. But coreg also effects the heart rate, so that enters the equation for optimal dosage.
Avatar m tn I am a 45 yr old male, 5ft 6 inches tall, 148 pounds, smoker for 25 years now quit after MI on 8/5/2010 most likely due to going off plavix .Family history of cardiac disease, father died at age 36 from stroke related to high blood pressure. My history before MI I received 6 stents due to blockage of 80% in 2 arteries, LAD i believe, in 2006.These were what is called kissing stents since they were placed back to back on both sides of the "widow maker".
Avatar m tn First a little about me. I'm 33 years old. 6'2"- 200-205 and 14% body fat and very fit. I workout reguarly, have been doing martial arts and crossfit for 15 years and am teacher. I ran an half marathon, 10 months ago. I've now been diagonosed with idiopathic cariodmyopathy. I' have no chest pain, occasional shortness of breath(with extreme or long effort). Not even when I'm exercising or training do I have any pain.
Avatar f tn Okay 2 stents put in May 26 this year. Went home with coreg, lisipronil and plavix all new. Had shortness of breath for next several days and doc took me off Coreg this past Tuesday. I still have shortness of breath most of the day (none at night while sleeping) and I have noticed an almost constant runny nose.Has anyone heard of this? Any ideas?
Avatar n tn My husband is 55 years old and was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy 5 years ago (may have been alcoholic cardiomyopathy?) -- he has been on coreg and lisinopril for 5 years with very few side effects -- his cardiomyopathy has resoved and his heart is "healthy" back to normal size and function. He decided to stop taking his coreg and lisinopril last week. He is weaning himself down. I think he is crazy for doing this -- especially without telling the doctor .
Avatar f tn ] As a result I was kept in CCU and started on Betapace, with a reduction in Coreg. Betapace reduced the threshold current, whil Coreg can increase it. Beware, if you are taking Coreg there is a chance that you may need to have the ICD adjusted/tested to verify it can still convert you out of VT, something that my cardiologist didn't at first recognizse as a concern.
Avatar n tn I have to agree with the CC doctor. You are not on the target doses of the Coreg or the ACEI, your Lisinopril. The Coreg target is 25-50 mg. twice a day. I think the Lisinopril would be 20 mg. per day. Now that may be because you absolutely cannot tolerate a higher dose, like me. Nevertheless, a CHF specialist would be a good start. I didn't qualify for a bi-v either. What is your BP? They want you as low as possible without passing out.
Avatar n tn I am also taking lisinopril. Definitely noticed the symptoms that I mentioned before after I started on the Coreg.

Is his heart really cured or are the meds keeping him healthy? and what will happen if he stops them altogether?

341655 tn?1240368839 My cardio recently added 2 new blood pressure meds to my other 2, verapamil and hctz(diuretic) he added lisinopril and coreg, i've noticed at night when i take my bp, my pulse runs in the 40-50's while resting, not resting its about 65, after having a month straight of very high pulse rates of 160+ i'm a little concerned about it being low, i have previously had problems with my potassium and that causing irregular HB...how low is to low?
Avatar m tn I would like to have kids but I am so scared that I may have a child with birth defects because of the medication I take. I take Coreg, Furosemide And Lisinopril. I am so afraid that the medication I take may cause a birth defect if I have a child. Does anyone anything about these medications and what they might do or not do, when trying to have children. Is there anything I need to do or be aware of. Thanks in advance.
Avatar n tn The medical decision was treat the enlarged left ventricle and occluded vessels with lisinopril and coreg. Currently, my heart is a normal size and EF is 59%, but I still have moderate to severe MVR...the doctors thought if and when the heart returned to normal size the MVR would improve, it didn't. I don't have any symptoms, and if I have shortage of breath, fatigue, chest pain, etc. there would be intervention on the MVR.
Avatar f tn i have had a biventricular pacemaker/icd since 2004 and am taking coreg, digoxin, lisinopril, coumadin, lasix and spironlactone. i am on maximum therapy for coreg and lisinopril and my coumadin was just upped. the a-fib, v-tach is new since 9/28/07. i spent the last 4 years in relative denial of any serious issues, but now i am scared. i understand that the icd is there to save me from sudden cardiac arrest. it did just that in september. what happens now? does it get worse?
Avatar m tn 5 of coreg i started the meds in janaury of 2010 and was just retested with an echo the results stayed the same 30/35 at rest thx
Avatar n tn Hi Mary, I had my ablations in August and November, 2003. It took nearly a year for my EF to return to 55%. Last check, in November 2007, I was back at 60%. So, his ablation was not for RVOT? My doctor was also cautious to confirm that the PVCs caused the cardiomyopathy. It was highly suspect, but not completely confirmed until after the procedures and some normalizing of my EF. Does your husband have any symptoms from the slightly decreased EF? How long has he been taking the Coreg?
Avatar n tn I was dx with cardiomyopathy 7-2006, I've been on 50mg Coreg since 9-2006, along with 20mg Enalipril, a statin, metformin and glipizide. I'm 57, 277#. My ejection fraction has been measured in the last two years from mid 20s to mid 40s, most recently LVEF 30% from heart cath. I have been suffering severe fatigue for four years. A few months ago my family doctor did an Epstein-Barr four part panel which he said showed chronic fatigue.
Avatar f tn I thought that is was due to the medications that he was taking so I called his PCP and ask him he said that he was not sure but the next time he is in the office he will look at it and see. But my question is he takes plavix, aspirin, lisinopril, Zocor, Zoloft, Coreg, lithium, and methadone. I took him off the lithium thinking that was the cause because after doing research sleeping all the time was something major with that drug.
Avatar f tn His ejection fraction at time of catheterization was 35%. Was put on Coreg 3.125mg bid and lisinopril 2/5mg at night. My question is how should this be treated? What if disease continues up the LAD and there is complete blockage? Can meds alone treat this? Should I seek second opinion?
