Common Questions and Answers about Coreg time release

coreg

475570 tn?1280941363 I take coreg twice a day, but coreg cr is a slow release medication for once a day. The recommendation is 1 capsule each morning wih breakfast that will help lower blood pressure all day and all night.
Avatar f tn My doctor has me on 30mg of Coreg (time release) that I take once in the morning. My fatigue has increased and my libido has dropped to zero. I have also gained 30 pounds since my quintuple CABG back in September 2007. I am also on Zocor, Aspirin and Niaspam. Can Coreg cause any of these symptoms? Also, my HDL has not improved since my surgery. I'm stuck in the high 20's. I feel a lack of motivation and rarely exercise. I'm worried about the HDL.
Avatar f tn I am 29 yrs old 120 lbs with no other health problems. I take 80 mgs extended release Coreg and 40 mgs of Benicar but my blood pressure still gets up to 170/105 and a resting heart rate of 120 sometimes. Is it possible that I just got used to the medication? I just had an angiogram and they gave me many medications but I was still fully awake which they said was odd. Could I possibly just have a high tolerance to medication? Also this is the first time that I really have been on any meds.
Avatar m tn I am not sure about type of tablets in US, but in India we get coreg(local name is cardivas) delayed release tablets. And if you split them they act much faster(not over a period) due to opening of its coating. In India we get them in tablets of 3.125mg, 6.25mg, 12.5mg and 25mg.I also take ACE-I(Ramipril) which dilates the arteries and also lowers BP. Coreg also effects BP but not much.
Avatar n tn I was taking Coreg CR (slow release) single dose of 25mg once a day. I went back to 12,5 mg twice a day,and that works for me. I take an ACE inhibitor twice a day with coreg just before a meal. That has been regimen for years...Why are you on such a high dosage? Do you function OK the next day when you take the dose at night?. Is your heart rate normal...less than 100 at rest? The doctor probably wants you take a dosage during the day when you are more active to help manage heart rate.
Avatar m tn Don't know what you're working on. Time release is slow release. When I managed health food stores the saying about time release was, expensive urine or bowel movements, since the body evacuates before the stuff comes out of the capsule.
Avatar m tn Is there anything wrong with 145bpm? it's certainly not ridiculously high. After my triple bypass surgery my heart rate would quickly jump from 90 (standing) to 186 during the exercise classes at rehab. I say 'jump' but it took 10-15 seconds if I really worked hard, such as very fast star jumps. When stopping the exercise my heart reduced to 90 in less than 30 seconds. There was no chest pains and I felt great.
Avatar m tn ) Jack Avoid drinking alcohol within 2 hours before or after taking extended-release carvedilol (Coreg CR). Also avoid taking medicines or other products that might contain alcohol. Alcohol may cause the carvedilol in Coreg CR to be released too quickly into the body. http://www.drugs.com/coreg.
Avatar n tn Of course, lots of things can cause headaches, but the fact that you did not have headaches before you were put on Coreg--and now you DO--makes a pretty strong case that Coreg is in some way responsible. Call your doctor and report this problem.
Avatar n tn On my own, I have experimented with taking only the night time coreg and other meds. The next morning I had more energy. Is there another medication I can take that would give me the benefits of coreg without the fatigue?
Avatar m tn Cardiologist discontinued toporol and placed me on coreg 3.125 mg twice daily. Since I felt great I thought reading on ejection fraction had to be wrong, went for second opinion at Mayo Clinic, did cardiac mri, showed major damage to heart muscle on left and bottom of heart that was through entire depth of muscle, right and top of heart seemed to be unaffected.Estimated ejection fraction was 25. Now am scheduled for ICD implant, and aggressive coreg/lisinopril combo with previous meds.
214864 tn?1229715239 I have been taking 20 mg of Coreg CR (continuous release) and have gained a lot of weight in a short period of time. I am considering talking to my cardio and trying a switch to Bystolic. Both are the latest generation of beta blockers, and do more than the older beta blockers. Another thing that would help me is to know if Bystolic drains the energy from you like most beta blockers because of what they do.
Avatar m tn i guess my main question is if i take my coreg wich i am at 19.5 mg 2 x aday at time of test i was 6.25 1x aday 1 month ago and i seam to feal alot betterdo you think i can build up my ef as i have no more heart damage since9 years ago no fluid retention no water pillsbreath fine walk 1.
Avatar m tn There was concern that I should have a Defribillator however I declined for the time being. I have fainted one time in two years and It was a time I was rushing and had dinner with wine and a cigar and after dnner drinks. My cardiologist asked me to go on Lisinopril starting on 2.5 mg to 5 mg to see how I do. My BP with no meds was always 110/78 now with the 5mg of Lisinopril it is 82/63 ( started with the ACE- 5 days ago) with a rate rate of 98.
Avatar n tn I had a minor heart attack in August 2008 and I had 5 stents put in. I was started on coreg 6.25 two tmes per day. The dr recently reduced me to 3.125 because of weight gain. I am still gaining weight. I decided to stop it altogether and did not tell my dr. My resting pulse is up as well as my pulse rate upon exertion. I just stopped the coreg. Will this regulate itself in a few days.
Avatar m tn He has me dropping to 12.5 of the Coreg and 50mg of the Tenormin twice a day for 4 days and then 6.25 Coreg and 50 Tenormin twice a day for 4 days, and then only the Tenormin 50 to 75 twice a day depending on BP numbers. Any one have any knowledge or thoughts about this? BTW I trust my Cardiologist but am nervous anytime I have to change meds!
Avatar n tn This caused me to become very fatigued and my doctor attributed it to the Coreg so he switched me to 10mg Norvasc every day (after weaning off the Coreg for 3 days). This was 2 weeks ago and I'm still feeling the same fatigue. How long does Coreg stay in your system after you stop taking it? I know that Lexapro can cause tiredness as well, but my doctor seemed to think otherwise.
63984 tn?1385437939 I've had multiple stents placed in both my LAD and RCA, and have had three heart attacks, and have fought agressive Cardiac Artery Disease. It appears I'm winning that battle, I've lost a great deal of weight (my BMI is now 24.5) and my cholesterol level is perfect according to my doctor, and I'm no longer injecting or taking meds for diabetes. I exercise daily.
Avatar n tn I am curious as to your opinion regarding the use of coreg for blood pressure control for a juvenile diabetic, with renal problems (37%) function. The coreg causes problems controlling the blood sugar in the patient, and it causes bouts of vomiting and loss of consciousness it also causes very low blood pressures, fatigue and shortness of breath.
Avatar f tn Other than lowering your pulse and blood pressure, if you took Coreg but did not need it, could it cause other damage? What symptoms would you have? I am on Coreg as a trial to see if it fixes my chronic shortness of breath. I just wondered if it was safe to do so or if it could cause permanent damage if in fact I did not need it.
Avatar n tn t want to drop my bp too low and pass out. I will be seeing a Cardiologist D.O. at the end of December to ask but in the mean time I was curious if anyone has had success. If so, how many milligrams of each do you take daily?
