could anyone give me ideas as to where or who i would contact to get some patient assistance for acute hep c treatment? I am not working, cannot wait on s.s. disability. I try to do some construction work when available, but it is really rough.

I am curious as to your opinion regarding the use of coreg for blood pressure control for a juvenile diabetic, with renal problems (37%) function. The coreg causes problems controlling the blood sugar in the patient, and it causes bouts of vomiting and loss of consciousness it also causes very low blood pressures, fatigue and shortness of breath.

I've been told that the Coreg dose is titrated as high as the patient can tolerate for optimal benefit. Kenkeith, do you find that to be the case?

She has no symptoms of CHF and was having some palpitations with dizziness (maybe once a week) which prompted EKG and later echo. She started Coreg (working her dose up) and Dig. First question is she is having a cath done next week is this standard? Next she is supposed to follow up with electrophysiologist and CHF clinic. Will they hold off on ICD or PM to see if EF increases or is it something they do early in the process? She is not overweight and does not smoke or even really drink.

Dr took me off lisinopril due to dry cough about 6 weeks ago and upped coreg to 6.25 mg. cough resolved but I have been having early morning rapid heart beat (wakes me up) in recent weeks and my tinnitus has become much worse. First observation I know is correct, Coreg and Carvedilol are the exact same drug, except Carvedilol is the generic form of Coreg. Increasing the combination would mean over 120mg, an unheard of dosage. You are already taking a gorilla dose and that can cause a drop of EF in my opinion. EF ratings fluctuate. I'd ask for a BNP test that is used to determine the level of CHF one has. Usually less than 100 indicates no CHF.

Of course, lots of things can cause headaches, but the fact that you did not have headaches before you were put on Coreg--and now you DO--makes a pretty strong case that Coreg is in some way responsible. Call your doctor and report this problem.

A beta blocker like Coreg or Antenolol is usually started with a very small dose as the effects can be huge when starting out. For example, I was given 3.175mg Coreg X 2 daily, and the effects were strong. After a couple weeks, my body got used to it so that was doubled, and doubled again until I was taking 50 mg daily. That proved to be too much so my dose is now 25 mg daily. The same procedure is usually followed with ACE and Calcium blockers.

This caused me to become very fatigued and my doctor attributed it to the Coreg so he switched me to 10mg Norvasc every day (after weaning off the Coreg for 3 days). Since then they have tried to put me on coreg....sotalol...and another drug.....with each of these I have developed a lung reaction with wheezing...congestion...almost like a bad asthma flare-up (never had asthma)...This past Thanksgiving went through 7-10 day episode of very high BP and a med was added....but since that time have had really bad shortness of breath. Finally on my April 2nd appt my cardio ordered the lexiscan test to see if any blockages etc.

Try cutting back, and it is not unusual for the heartrate not to increase very high with exercise. I believe you asked about another beta blocker as a substitute for coreg. Coreg as a dual mechanism as it also has an ACE inhibitor effects that helps dilate vessels. It is highly recommended for heart patients. Take care.
