coreg

406399 tn?1201884300 does anyone know of a good or half good beta blocker or b.p med that has less side effects than toprol has.. so far I counted over 35 side effects , including some real bad ones .. I have alot of problems with side effects and have allergic reactions to generic drugs due to the fillers they use in the pills. it just seems no matter where I go for help, hmo or ppo plans Im going in circles and getting nowhere at all.. meantime I suffer daily from unwanted side effects..
Avatar m tn He has me dropping to 12.5 of the Coreg and 50mg of the Tenormin twice a day for 4 days and then 6.25 Coreg and 50 Tenormin twice a day for 4 days, and then only the Tenormin 50 to 75 twice a day depending on BP numbers. Any one have any knowledge or thoughts about this? BTW I trust my Cardiologist but am nervous anytime I have to change meds!
Avatar f tn My BP is now always down at 96/58 + or - 5-points. Are these normal symptoms with toprol. This new cardio seems to swear by the toprol but I tolerated the Coreg much better and it seemed to help me recover along with the digoxin. On this new mix of meds my EF has stayed at <25 for last 3-months and my breathing still ***** due to the intermittent a-fib and arrythmia's. This last week, I am feeling very good other than the med side effects.
Avatar m tn what happened is my bp was going very low for months after being on coreg for years and accuprill too and i was feeling bad palps in chest once in awhile so i finally asked if i had afibd to there surprise my machine had recorded episodes, they thought i was reacting to the alpha in coreg and put me on toprol xl but the first day i guess the half pill wasn't enough and i had severe afib that went through the av node and caused a ventricular tach attack and i was on the floor with my defib b
Avatar f tn Hi I was on Tiazac for about 6 ot 7 days and i skipped a few days of it,i have been feeling extremely dizzy and i saw my heart dr yesterday and he told me to stop the tiazac and he is puttting me on Coreg 6.
Avatar n tn The medications I take is an ACE inhibitor (dilates vessels for less workload for the heart) and Coreg. Coreg (beta blocker) keeps my heart rate within acceptable parameters and also reduces anxiety while exercising. The problem could be your medication, thyroid problem, or/and other medical problems. You should report the exercise problems with your doctor as it is not normal to have the symptoms you are experiencing with exercise (ruling out extremely low physical condition).
926651 tn?1244140366 3. The only difference I can identify in my routine is that my cardiologist started me on Toprol XL 25mg daily. Any ideas why this spike could have occured?
Avatar m tn m @210 (still overweight) and on low dosages of Lisinopril (10mg), Toprol XL (25mg), and a diuretic (37.5). Over the past 4 weeks, I've experienced some morning sluggishness and ED. It's not a sudden onset; I've been very cold some nights at bedtime, had sporatic ED... and I walk 5 miles a day four or more times a week... so up to now, no one has been surprised about a pulse of 60. Only now my pulse is often @ 50 and occasionally in the mid to upper 40's.
Avatar f tn So, my choice was to try to treat with meds. That is when I went on Coreg cr. Shortly after going on Coreg I felt much better. The ache in my chest subsided and the frequency of PVCs decreased. However, slowly over the last three weeks the PVCs are increasing and the ache is returning. I called the cardiologist's office yesterday and told them what I have just told you.
343006 tn?1314446471 p has to be the worst **** on the market -besides toprol xl or diovan ! killer drugs ! iv been off the coreg now for over 14 hours - and will soon go back on the verapamil and dieretic pills as I would rather live with swollen ankles and get out of breath here and there.. at least my b.p was down to normal levels. coreg didnt lower my b.p down .. it stayed up 2days of this ! and its pure horse plop ! Isnt there a law somewhere that protects us people from these drug makers..
Avatar n tn The operation was totally successful and I was prescribed 25 mg of Toprol XL to be taken twice daily. My local cardiologist (who has been treating me for the past 20 years) says my heart muscle has shrunk back towards normal size and that I'm "doing so well" I should cut my Toprol XL dosage by 50%. Do you concur? Would this reduced dosage have any negative impact whatsoever on the mean-time-to-failure of the replacement valve? Thank you very much. CCF is simply the BEST!
Avatar n tn Any reason to think this change could trigger arythmia or something else really kooky? I am told this is an excellent medication and typically very well tolerated. I tried Toprol XL before for several months. Did not tolerate it well, mainly due to severe nightmares. Once removed from the Toprol, nightmares stopped. Is this a different class of beta blocker that is safer and what (if anything) should I be concerned about?
Avatar m tn I am a 62 year old male and run regularly for exercise, completing several marathons in the last several years. After the stent, I was placed on Crestor, Toprol, Plavix, and aspirin for medication. My concern is the impact the Toprol is having on my exercise. I do not have a blood pressure issue since my resting BP is 106/69 with a 44 pulse rate.
Avatar f tn Hi. I posted after my ablation for flutter over a month ago. I'm in normal sinus rhythm so far, and praying every day. I have a EF of 34 and non-ischemic cardiomyopathy believed to be from chemo in 2006. Minor scarring on MRI. I have a question about beta blockers and fatigue. I'm so very tired. Many of us are from these drugs. I'm on Coreg. My EP took me off lisinopril 2 weeks ago, as my BP was 82/54.
Avatar m tn People I know with heart disease are usually started out with Tenormin and as their heart diseases progresses with age then switch to Toprol or Coreg (Coreg blocks more receptors than Toprol). If you do not already know, you need to find out what your heart condition is and then ask the doctor what kind of medication you need and let your doctor know that you are not tolerating the Metroprolol. Brand-name is always best when taking heart medication.
Avatar m tn My cardio gave me some samples of 10 mg coreg to take once a day and a prescription to fill if the side effects from the metoprolol do not get any better. The side effects from the metoprolol have gotten a little better, though as I type this my heart rate is 52 bpm. Does any one have any comments on the pros and cons of carvedilol versus metoprolol? I'm not sure I want to switch if the side effects will be the same. Does anyone have experience with metoprolol?
Avatar m tn Well, sounds like you have had a rough 6 months! Sorry to hear that. I would tell you that a cardiac MRI is very precise in terms of EF so I would believe the 25%. I would also agree with Mayo Clinic's opinion of an ICD and definitely getting back on lisinopril in combination with coreg. Toprol would also be fine but if you are doing alright on Coreg I would just stick with this combination.
1243333 tn?1296446902 ve developed a ulcer), the last hospital stay when they discharged me they told me to tell the doc and they could put me on different meds, but the only response I keep getting is we have you on the max dose, in my experience with life more is not necessarily best so would the same be true of BP meds.( My Bp at home runs around 190/145 plus) I take valturna 300/325mg, coreg 25mg, spironolactone 100mg, hydralazine 100mg, norvasc 10mg, imdur 120mg, clonidine 0.
Avatar f tn About two years ago, I noticed my heart was racing and I was having heart palpitations that felt like a hard or skipped heartbeat. I learned I was hyperthyroid and had Grave's disease. I was put on Toprol 25 mg daily to hekp with my heart while I went on an anti-thyroid called PTU. Several months ago, palpitations began appearing again. I got tests done it appeared my thyroid was not overproducing anymore. Once I reduced my antithyroid to compensate, the palpitations went away.
Avatar n tn When I decided to seek help from an EP, she told me that I needed to go to the ER if my a-fib/flutter attacks lasted more than 4 hours and/or go immeditaley if I was having and chest pain or feeling faint.
343006 tn?1314446471 it goes away with loud or normal sounds in the room or where im at.. but comes back when sitting alone reading or online. really bothers me ! I tryed a natural med called ring stop! and it works ok but fades out after 4hours or so.. so have to keep taking it. iv been to 2 diffrent ear doctors and they both said im ok, ears are fine, just dont use Qtips anymore.. for cleaning ears out. ?
Avatar f tn I was taking 100mg atenolol without food for hypertension but my glucose went up so my doctor switched me to Coreg 25mg twice a day. He said it does not matter if you take it with or without food. All i keep reading is to take with food....
406412 tn?1217438384 In this study, 387 patients with stable, chronic CHF from ischemia took either placebo or Coreg for 6 months. Patients were called hibernators (181 patients) or non-hibernators (124 patients) based on how much of their heart muscle was hibernating. Coreg patients had increased EF by the study's end. Placebo patients had no EF change. The more heart muscle that was hibernating, the more EF improved over time with Coreg use. Study author Dr.
Avatar m tn Yes, I have also experienced that coreg need to be gradually increased or decreased. In fact, I have also experienced that after increasing coreg dose is steps of 3.125 it needs to be stabilized for abour ten days. In my case I was on 12.5mgx2/day and increased it to 18.75mg/day in about 2-3 weeks. It was than I found that I was feeling tired, fatigued and various sensations in my throat and head and my pulse rate was stagnant at 70-80 bpm. For last two days I have come down to 15.625mgx2.
Avatar n tn I am curious as to your opinion regarding the use of coreg for blood pressure control for a juvenile diabetic, with renal problems (37%) function. The coreg causes problems controlling the blood sugar in the patient, and it causes bouts of vomiting and loss of consciousness it also causes very low blood pressures, fatigue and shortness of breath.
