Common Questions and Answers about Coreg medication side effects

coreg

Avatar m tn If you do not want to suffer a heart attack or stroke, you need to take the Plavix and aspirin. Lipitor is a cholesterol medication that have proven studies showing reducing cholesterol and reducing some cholesterol buildup already there. The medications are your life line and you need to take them as prescribed by your doctor. Are you having current side effects from the medications?
907968 tn?1292622204 I just got a refill of my Carvedilol (3.125mg) I take two pills in the morning and two in the evening and it has been this way since August '09. I read the side effects just out of curiosity and I had nothing better to do and what I found was, "Check with your Dr. as soon as possible If you experience cold or numb legs or feet or unusual leg pain". And it goes on to say "Contact your Dr. immediately if you experience....(lists what seems like 10,000 things)...

Avatar n tn I have extremely dry skin and am on a couple of blood pressure lowering drugs. I think this is perhaps more part of the aging process. I could be wrong though. As I have aged I have noticed my skin seems to be thinner as I cut so easily. And let's not start me up on the bruising.
Avatar m tn However recently I have noticed that the color of my blood (taken to test blood sugar) is a distinct chocolate-brown color similar to whenever I have had to use Nitro tabs/patches for angina attacks. I have also been affected by regular bouts of diarrhea. Are these side effects to be concerned about given the somewhat more beneficial effects and if so what could I do about them? Appreciate your comments and those of anyone else affected.
Avatar f tn My cariologist wants my blood pressure less than 120/80, and as low as possible without side effects. The coreg with lisinopril does dilate the vessels and maintains heart rate stability, and if there is a side effect of lightheadedness, etc. the doctor would adjust or find the medication that is right for you. Your weak heart as indicated by lower than normal EF (amount of blood pumped with each heartbeat).
Avatar n tn I am only 6 ft and 170 lbs. and the dosage you take for coreg would probably cause side effects for me, but fortunately my present regimen of medication serves me well.
343006 tn?1314446471 also doctor said very few people have problems on this med Coreg ? I tend not to belive that, as im reading all the side effects listed !! there are meny ! and it reads far worse than other brands of beta blockers. Anyone tryed this stuff or is taking it ?? for the life of me, I find it hard to put myself in pain again ,and suffering with adverse side effects ! and cant figure why any Doctor in his or her right mind would perscribe such mediacations ?
Avatar n tn My husband is 55 years old and was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy 5 years ago (may have been alcoholic cardiomyopathy?) -- he has been on coreg and lisinopril for 5 years with very few side effects -- his cardiomyopathy has resoved and his heart is "healthy" back to normal size and function. He decided to stop taking his coreg and lisinopril last week. He is weaning himself down. I think he is crazy for doing this -- especially without telling the doctor .

Is his heart really cured or are the meds keeping him healthy? and what will happen if he stops them altogether?
1210142 tn?1266077031 Hello, My name is Anatoly Petrov and I have I had a heart attack on 09/21/09. After my bare metal stents were clogged and I almost got another heart attack, a DES was placed inside those two. Since then I have been having chest pains. I am currently on Plavix, Aspirin, Simvastatin, Lisinopril and Carvedilol/Coreg/. Stopped Lisinopril for a little bit and felt much better- unfortunately my blood pressure went a little up.
Avatar f tn I too noticed it says to take with food, which I did until I had been on it for a month - then I tried taking it a few times without food. I had no change in any side effects (dizziness. etc), so for me, it doesn't seem to matter -but then again, it's only one of 3 BPmeds I'm currently taking to control my BP, so that may be a factor as well. Generally speaking, taking a med with food means a slower absorption rate of the med, which can help ease some side effects.
Avatar m tn m not the doctor but I know exactly what you mean regarding the side effects from Coreg. I was put on it for a little over a year due to an aneurysm in my ascending aorta and the cardio wants my blood pressure kept very low. Like you, I am still lightheaded/off balance on occasion. I walk on a daily basis and even a brisk pace fails to get my heart rate out of the 70s. (Of course with the aneurysm I'm not supposed to get my heart rate very high.
Avatar n tn Any information about the long term effects of Coreg? I may be taking this stuff (I hope) for a very long time.
Avatar n tn I was just put on coreg since june6th and have been having severe headaches from it and tiredness. Is there any side effects between these three that can give me these headaches? I was fine until I was out on coreg.
Avatar f tn Did you try to google the med and look under side effects? Besides, in your message you said the doctor wanted you to stop Tiazac and start the Coreg. Have you tried that yet? One thing with heart meds, it's not a good idea to start and stop them. Plus it may take a month or two for the initial side effects to settle down. Try not to be discouraged. When I first started Diltiazem I had monster headaches for the first 2 weeks and felt like my brain was full of fuzz.
214864 tn?1229715239 Improper dose of medication can have effect on the stress test, but the doctor should know your medication and possible side effects. If you play 12 holes of golf without a cart, that would indicate you are fairly healthy, if you carry your own clubs! You may want to discuss your medication with your doctor...sometimes it is a trial and error procedure until the a med is determined effective and minimum or no side effects.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know anything about carvedilol? How safe is it, what are the side effects? Has anyone heard of it being prescribed for tachycardia? HIgh blood pressure? I am sick of taking/switching medications, most of all I am sick of having tachycardia and believe my heart rate is just naturally higher than others' heart rates. They told me to stop the calcium channel blocker cold turkey and start the new medication, I thought I was suppossed to wean off of my current medication.
Avatar f tn Coreg (carvedilol) is a very effective beta blocker. All beta blockers can affect blood pressure and pulse rate, they work by controlling the adrenlin. They don't normally cause heart damage, however. Just the opposite, they improve heart efficiency. He might need a lower dose, I'm sure his doctor will weigh in on that issue. Don't under any circumstances stop taking it, one must taper off. I take the drug, and it has worked very well for my heart health.
Avatar f tn This last week, I am feeling very good other than the med side effects. You mentioned that you have had some severe side effects, what are your effects like please? I am going to a new doctor on Thursday for a second opinion on the meds and regarding the ICD that the other cardio wants me to consider. Thanks for posting your notes and for any advice you may have on the toprol.
