Common Questions and Answers about Coreg med

coreg

Avatar n tn I have been diagnosed with an ejection fraction of less than 35 and a severe cardiac arrhythmia ( 32000 pvc's per 24 hrs ). My cardiologist put me on Coreg and gradually worked me up to a dosage of 25 mg BID. The arrhythmia has dropped to 37 but I feel absolutely horrible since being on the Coreg. I am constantly dizzy and fatigued. The slightest effort requires that I stop and rest. I feel like I have no strength nor any ambition to do anything. I have also gained weight.
Avatar n tn I am curious as to your opinion regarding the use of coreg for blood pressure control for a juvenile diabetic, with renal problems (37%) function. The coreg causes problems controlling the blood sugar in the patient, and it causes bouts of vomiting and loss of consciousness it also causes very low blood pressures, fatigue and shortness of breath.
304450 tn?1192686333 I was wondering if anyone knew of and med that are good for increasing Ejection Fraction. I have been on Coreg for 4 years and my EF had decreased some. Please help if you know. My doctor has talked about adding low dose of Diovan. but that concerns me because my bp sometimes runs low with the coreg.
Avatar f tn I am 29 yrs old 120 lbs with no other health problems. I take 80 mgs extended release Coreg and 40 mgs of Benicar but my blood pressure still gets up to 170/105 and a resting heart rate of 120 sometimes. Is it possible that I just got used to the medication? I just had an angiogram and they gave me many medications but I was still fully awake which they said was odd. Could I possibly just have a high tolerance to medication? Also this is the first time that I really have been on any meds.
343006 tn?1314446471 also doctor said very few people have problems on this med Coreg ? I tend not to belive that, as im reading all the side effects listed !! there are meny ! and it reads far worse than other brands of beta blockers. Anyone tryed this stuff or is taking it ?? for the life of me, I find it hard to put myself in pain again ,and suffering with adverse side effects ! and cant figure why any Doctor in his or her right mind would perscribe such mediacations ?
Avatar f tn I was taking 100mg atenolol without food for hypertension but my glucose went up so my doctor switched me to Coreg 25mg twice a day. He said it does not matter if you take it with or without food. All i keep reading is to take with food....
Avatar f tn Unfortunately your question was accidentally posted on the bird forum. I didn't notice your question posted on the heart disease forum which may be the best place to ask. Both medications are angiotensin II receptor antagonists which will relax the blood vessels and lower BP. As to which will work best for you, that's up to your cardiologist. It's not unusual to try one medication to manage CHF only to find it's not doing as well as expected, then try another med.
Avatar n tn He admitted me overnight and They did a stress test with an echo, they also did 3 blood tests to check to see if i had a heart attack. Everything was fine and he switched me to Coreg. The chest pains got worse and my PCP switched me from the Coreg to Benicar 40mg since my BP was not low enough and my chest pains increased on the Coreg. A new cardiologist did a nuclear stress test and a calcium score test and i wore an event monitor for 21 days.and it came out negative for any problems.
Avatar m tn An optimum dose for each individual does seem right and you get there by simply trial and error. By the way does the Coreg affect your BP and if not which med do you find most effective?
Avatar n tn My girlfriend was diagnosed with it and has been prescribed coreg 3.125 twice a day. This med has caused her to go up in pants size from an 8 to now a 12. She's getting really upset over this and so I'm asking you if there is something else out there that does the same t hing as coreg but doesn't make a person gain weight? thanks for your time......
Avatar f tn heart rate is in the 70s to 100s..My dr said go ahead and start the coreg, and to take it only when things are over a 100.Well my pharmasist told me that coreg is a drug that needs to be taken daiely not as needed so im so confused. This dizziness is scaring me i feel kinda confused and like i havwe been hit in the chest hard but i havent. The cardolgist says my heart is fine and its mainly my anxiety.Has anyone had such bad dizziness before.
792040 tn?1237582438 If you have this diagnosis, it would be dangerous not to be on a beta blocker which is what Coreg is. Coreg is really the best beta blocker and blocks the most receptors. Now that you are on Coreg, you should try not to worry too much. Just do not miss a dose or go off of it suddenly. Follow-up with your doctor. If you experience flutter with the Coreg, make sure to see your doctor.
406399 tn?1201884300 or change it to another medication. I was put on this med for palpitations that come and go. and high blood pressure that wont drop down easy at times! my ekg tests over the years have been normal and had stress tests done , again normal ? why then toprol xl ?? as I was first on atenenlol and had less problems other than I couldnt sleep well. I was in a hmo plan and now switched to a top rated ppo plan open access type. in hope's for better care and services, as yet sos !!
Avatar f tn in the 120/70s but I have extreme dizziness, ringing in my ears, blurry vision, occasionally I have SOB, headache at the base of my skull, and sometimes it feels like my eyes have all the fluid sucked out of them! When I lower the dose of the med it gets better, but when I try to go off the med things get worse! I am so tired of trying meds. I feel like a guiney pig.
Avatar f tn Hi I was on Tiazac for about 6 ot 7 days and i skipped a few days of it,i have been feeling extremely dizzy and i saw my heart dr yesterday and he told me to stop the tiazac and he is puttting me on Coreg 6.
21064 tn?1309308733 On carvedilol (aka coreg) 6.25 mg 2x a day and lisinipril 10 mg a day to help protect my heart and keep my bp down from a pregnancy induced cardiomyopathy. I have some dizziness probably from both and some short term memory issues from the coreg. Wondering if anyone else has had the memory issues w/coreg, glad my dose isn't any higher.
214864 tn?1229715239 I take Coreg CR 20 mg per day. I have noticed since taking it, my energy level has decreased, but then it seemed to improve, but then I started on Lisinopril and energy level dropped again, then after a month or so improved, then I got sick a lot (have small kids with big mean germs) and my energy level fluctuates, so don't know what to think. All this has occured over about a 4 month period...probalby not long enough to make me any kind of expert.
Avatar n tn Of course, lots of things can cause headaches, but the fact that you did not have headaches before you were put on Coreg--and now you DO--makes a pretty strong case that Coreg is in some way responsible. Call your doctor and report this problem.
Avatar n tn I had a minor heart attack in August 2008 and I had 5 stents put in. I was started on coreg 6.25 two tmes per day. The dr recently reduced me to 3.125 because of weight gain. I am still gaining weight. I decided to stop it altogether and did not tell my dr. My resting pulse is up as well as my pulse rate upon exertion. I just stopped the coreg. Will this regulate itself in a few days.
Avatar m tn I currently have stents and a ICD implant. I currently take plavix, coreg, zocor and a blood pressure med. The stents and ICD were done about 5-6 yrs ago. At the time my EJ was about 20 and now it is in the low 40's so I am pleased with this but my question is what can I do to get my EJ higher. It has been flat for the last 2 yrs. I do exercise daily and watch my diet.
Avatar m tn He has me dropping to 12.5 of the Coreg and 50mg of the Tenormin twice a day for 4 days and then 6.25 Coreg and 50 Tenormin twice a day for 4 days, and then only the Tenormin 50 to 75 twice a day depending on BP numbers. Any one have any knowledge or thoughts about this? BTW I trust my Cardiologist but am nervous anytime I have to change meds!
Avatar n tn This caused me to become very fatigued and my doctor attributed it to the Coreg so he switched me to 10mg Norvasc every day (after weaning off the Coreg for 3 days). This was 2 weeks ago and I'm still feeling the same fatigue. How long does Coreg stay in your system after you stop taking it? I know that Lexapro can cause tiredness as well, but my doctor seemed to think otherwise.
Avatar n tn Try cutting back, and it is not unusual for the heartrate not to increase very high with exercise. I believe you asked about another beta blocker as a substitute for coreg. Coreg as a dual mechanism as it also has an ACE inhibitor effects that helps dilate vessels. It is highly recommended for heart patients. Take care.
Avatar f tn Other than lowering your pulse and blood pressure, if you took Coreg but did not need it, could it cause other damage? What symptoms would you have? I am on Coreg as a trial to see if it fixes my chronic shortness of breath. I just wondered if it was safe to do so or if it could cause permanent damage if in fact I did not need it.
475570 tn?1280941363 I take coreg twice a day, but coreg cr is a slow release medication for once a day. The recommendation is 1 capsule each morning wih breakfast that will help lower blood pressure all day and all night.
