Coreg heart rate

Common Questions and Answers about Coreg heart rate

coreg

406412 tn?1217438384 .Correg is a beta blocker and by blocking the receptors it reduces the heart's rate and FORCE of contraction and thereby reduces the work of the heart. Coreg also blocks adrenergic receptors (QACE inhibitor) on arteries and causes the arteries to relax and the blood pressure to fall. The drop in blood pressure further reduces the work of the heart since it is easier to pump blood against a lower pressure.
Avatar n tn There is some misunderstanding...my fault. I take coreg with lisinopril to lower heart rate and lower blood pressure. Coreg can lower the HR, and as you know, I very slow heart rate can cause clots, and with MVR an individual is more vulnerable. My docotor wants my BP as low as possible without side effects such as passing out!. And I believe the lowest possible BP is generally the goal as you stated. But coreg also effects the heart rate, so that enters the equation for optimal dosage.
Avatar m tn What I understand is lower the pulse rate better is the recovery of heart function. Are you able to maintain pulse rate below 70 bpm with present coreg dose and exercise regimen. I have no problems with ACE-I though. With 5mgx2 Ramipril my BP remains 110/70 most of the time.
Avatar n tn My resting pulse is up as well as my pulse rate upon exertion. I just stopped the coreg. Will this regulate itself in a few days.
Avatar m tn m curious is that people that have demand pacemakers will have their heart rate maintained at a certain point if their heart rate drops too low. Taking too much of a Beta Blocker can drop your heart rate, with a demand pacemaker, it would be assured to be maintained at a certain rate. Also, your doctor may have choosen your dosage based on your conditions, not simply rate control, I would discuss this with your doctor.
Avatar f tn and most beta blockers slows and stabilizes the heart rate, but Coreg is not just a beta blocker, it also has some ACE inhibitor characteristics as well.. Doesn't the AICD control the heart rate and negate that aspect of Coreg?
Avatar f tn All this started happening feb 21. before that heart rate around 100. The problem with more coreg or other beta blockers is the fact her bp too low 96 over 50 the majority of the time. I am soo scared for her, lanoxin prevents heart attack yet it could be the cause of very low platelets and she could bleed to death. catch 22. Her icd set at 160.
Avatar n tn is my heart rate to lowdue to coreg should i be concerned had 1 heart attack at 43 now 50 quit smoking 7 years ago weight235 heith 5 9 male 3 stents diagnose lower ventricular dys pcp sugests cutting coreg in half no chest pain plavix 1asprin a day alpuronol This discussion is related to <a href='/posts/show/877455'>Re: Low pulse rate</a>.
Avatar m tn My BP with no meds was always 110/78 now with the 5mg of Lisinopril it is 82/63 ( started with the ACE- 5 days ago) with a rate rate of 98. My heart rate has been the same since my hospitalization. I need to go up on the ACE to between 10mg and 20mg . I am not sure if I will tolerated the medication. I am afraid that my BP will continue to decrease. I am concerned but both cardiologists agree that I need to be on an ace inhibitor.
Avatar n tn I was off Coreg for 48 hours, on the treadmill I could only get my heart rate up to 130 or so. Perhaps I'll divide the half dosage to twice a day to see how that works...thanks again for the post..John To: John I was taking Coreg CR (slow release) single dose of 25mg once a day. I went back to 12,5 mg twice a day,and that works for me. I take an ACE inhibitor twice a day with coreg just before a meal. That has been regimen for years...Why are you on such a high dosage?
Avatar n tn I have CHF and EF of 25%, currently on 80 mg of Coreg and 30 mg lisinopril along with lasixs. I asked my doctor the same question. I was informed that if I stopped the Coreg my heart would eventually return to the same EF of 25%. Not a wise thing to stop the medication. You are at risk for Sudden Death Syndrome. If your heart were to get into an irregular rythm you could die. Please advise him to talk to his doctor.
Avatar m tn Nonetheless, to be on the safe side I was given a nuclear stress test - everything turned out just fine, my cardiologist said my heart is perfectly normal. The only problem was the high heart rate - when I went to get on the treadmill my heart rate jumped from 90 bpm to 145 bpm. This is definitely from the anxiety - I was terrified of the test and treadmills make me very uncomfortable. Moreover, at home my heart rate never makes a jump like that, it usually goes from 60 bpm to 80 bpm.
475570 tn?1280941363 I take Coreg twice a day, rather than Coreg CR one a day with the extended release. My blood pressure and heart rate is very good.
Avatar f tn I just read up on Coreg - - beta blocker, and on low blood pressure. Beta blockers can cause heart damage which then can cause low pulse - hense low blood pressure. He has 5 stents and is on crestor & plavix. He's also taking a multi vitamin & Omega 3 supplement. Can he stop taking the Coreg? Is there an alternative? He's strong and very active - physicallty & sexually. He's also taking Co Enzyme Q-10.
Avatar n tn Coreg is medication that helps lower the heart rate and bp. The stress test will evaluate one's physical condition a peak heart rate unmedicated, and how quickly the heart rae returns to normal within 3 minutes or so. Other phases of the test considered as well.
Avatar n tn Are you on medication as jrbon asks? I am on a beta blocker (coreg) and I am not able to raise my heart rate above 125 with an aerobic exercise. What is your resting heart rate? Is it normal, low? It is possible you have low thyroid output or sinus bradycardia.
Avatar f tn This drug is also known under the brand name of Coreg...it is a beta blocker used to treat hypertension among other things. How high is your heart rate?
Avatar m tn Should I still be experiencing shortness of breath from heart problem? Know my max heart rate when exercising should be around 165 for my age. Where should it be when I'm running or lifting weights? Or is it safe for me to try and do distance running and weight lifting? I've always been athletic and had a difficult time not going all out when exercising. I am also on an ace inhibitor and a beta blocker. Coreg 7.5mg and Cozaar 25mg.
Avatar f tn It would be silly to push over your max heart rate with cardiomyopathy. Why dont you strengthen your heart by simply walking a bit faster and for longer? Walking or swimming are great exercises, running isn't necessary at all.
Avatar f tn No permanent damage from coreg. Exactly as you mentioned, it can lower heart rate and blood pressure but it is otherwise a very safe drug. If you have severe asthma, you might need to be careful because it could aggravate wheezing but again, this would entirely resolve upon stopping the medication. Good luck. Dr.
Avatar f tn Two days later end up in ER again, admitted for cardiomyopathy (which was news to me) and heart rate that was 118-130 sitting still. Echo performed and sent home by the cardiologist and told to eat more salt. Was not told the results of the Echo.
Avatar f tn Test revealed he was at a 45% capacity. Heart not pumping enough blood out. No blockages, but now he is at 35%. He just started COREG. What does this say for the future and his heart. He was told not to exercise at this point. They believe the blood pools in the heart then throws the clots out. Is he in heart failure.
Avatar m tn Hi, I'm not the doctor but I know exactly what you mean regarding the side effects from Coreg. I was put on it for a little over a year due to an aneurysm in my ascending aorta and the cardio wants my blood pressure kept very low. Like you, I am still lightheaded/off balance on occasion. I walk on a daily basis and even a brisk pace fails to get my heart rate out of the 70s. (Of course with the aneurysm I'm not supposed to get my heart rate very high.
341655 tn?1240368839 The Coreg is a beta blocker and may lower your heart rate. I am on Atenolol 25 mg a day. This is also a beta blocker and has lowered my heart rate. Hope things get better.
792040 tn?1237582438 The concern I have with Coreg is, my BP is normally 80/50 and at times, much lower. My heart rate averages 54 to 60, but has also been much lower. I know that Coreg lowers the blood pressure and I don't have a whole lot of 'play' to keep my from going into shock, which I have and many times. The other concern I have is the lowering of the heart rate. I don't know how much lower I could go before bottoming out again...
Avatar f tn I stopped the tiazac after about 7 days and my blood pressure has gone lower than when i was on it and i am still very dizzy.........heart rate is in the 70s to 100s..My dr said go ahead and start the coreg, and to take it only when things are over a 100.Well my pharmasist told me that coreg is a drug that needs to be taken daiely not as needed so im so confused. This dizziness is scaring me i feel kinda confused and like i havwe been hit in the chest hard but i havent.
Avatar n tn t old enough to have blocked arteries which is the primary reason for chest pains and the other forms of heart disease which would give you chest pain, if you had those types of heart disease, it would be hard to miss. Sinus tachycardia is a heart rate up to 140bpm. ; that may seem fast, but when you put it up against heart rates into the 200-300 bpm range, that's when there can be risks involving the heart. The heart is capable of handling even those fast rates for quite awhile.
