Coreg heart medicine

Common Questions and Answers about Coreg heart medicine

coreg

475570 tn?1280941363 It seems logical to take the medication with the morning meal. I take Coreg twice a day, rather than Coreg CR one a day with the extended release. My blood pressure and heart rate is very good.
Avatar n tn s in Methodist Hospital in Memphis, TN, but nothing is working. They have her on Coreg (heart medicine and Minitodil for blood pressure). Please help me if you can, we need to find someone who specializes in Syncope and in very low blood pressure. Sometimes upon standing the nurses can't even get a reading on her blood pressure because it drops so low.
Avatar n tn This lightens the workload for heart to pump against by dilating the vessels. Coreg also has a component to stabilize heart rate. Do you or is it suspected you may be susceptable to tachyarrhythmia. A TWA and Coreg medication seem to imply. You can take a stress test, with the injection of a dye substance, to determine the viability of the damaged heart muscle. I had an MI 4 years ago with an EF29-13% and some heart muscle damage at the distal portion of the heart.
Avatar m tn Strauss Heart Drops or Heart and Body Extract. If there is some heart muscle damage, you might look into Dr. Lester Morrison's heart rebuilding therapy using chondroitin sulfate 6 grams daily. Your body seems unusual, no need for too much interference. Just get the EF up into peace of mind range.
Avatar f tn Hi. My dad is 55 he went in hospital for heart virus that left him with chf his ejection fraction is 10. He was told they want to try medicine of that doesn't work then a difibulator or heart transplant. We're freaking out its not that easy to get a heart there is a very long list. But anyways I'm so worried I hear such good things about coreg. He takes 6.25 2 times a day.
406412 tn?1217438384 I HAVE READ - Coreg lowers blood pressure and increases the output of the heart - DOES THIS MEAD THAT IT INCREASES THE EJECTION FRACTION OF THE HEART? AND IF THIS IS TRUE - IF A PERSON WAS TO STOP TAKING COREG WOULD THEIR EF RATE DECREASE ? ? ?
Avatar n tn Did the operative report state that the damaged heart cells could be revived? Coreg is the drug of choice to revive those cells. Coreg is considered by some heart patients, me included as a wonder drug, Many, many people who take the drug have seen an increase in weight when it is administered, me included. However, it helped my heart health a great deal, the the weight gain was temporary.
Avatar m tn My cardiologist gave me a number of 45. What does this mean? And he wants me to take Coreg. So is this heart failure or heart disease? I also have mvp and had been taking propranolol for 30 years.
Avatar n tn There is some misunderstanding...my fault. I take coreg with lisinopril to lower heart rate and lower blood pressure. Coreg can lower the HR, and as you know, I very slow heart rate can cause clots, and with MVR an individual is more vulnerable. My docotor wants my BP as low as possible without side effects such as passing out!. And I believe the lowest possible BP is generally the goal as you stated. But coreg also effects the heart rate, so that enters the equation for optimal dosage.
Avatar f tn It could be dangerous to stop the Coreg as the heart gets used to it. Stopping beta blockers could cause heart failure. You can talk it over with your doctor to make sure, but I am sure that he or she will wean you off slowing if that is what is decided. Coreg, in my opinion, is one of the best beta blockers.
Avatar m tn t seem to be helping her fast heart beat much, lately anyways. The doctor said the next medicine he would try is Multaq (Dronedarone). But after reading about the lawsuit stuff it scares you off. I've read about that Amiodarone drug, and it even sounds worse for potential problems. She has had 2 Ablations done for Atrial Fibrillation over the years. She regrets having had the 2nd one done, because it made her worse. The 1st one did help.
Avatar n tn Try cutting back, and it is not unusual for the heartrate not to increase very high with exercise. I believe you asked about another beta blocker as a substitute for coreg. Coreg as a dual mechanism as it also has an ACE inhibitor effects that helps dilate vessels. It is highly recommended for heart patients. Take care.
21064 tn?1309308733 On carvedilol (aka coreg) 6.25 mg 2x a day and lisinipril 10 mg a day to help protect my heart and keep my bp down from a pregnancy induced cardiomyopathy. I have some dizziness probably from both and some short term memory issues from the coreg. Wondering if anyone else has had the memory issues w/coreg, glad my dose isn't any higher.
Avatar m tn What I understand is lower the pulse rate better is the recovery of heart function. Are you able to maintain pulse rate below 70 bpm with present coreg dose and exercise regimen. I have no problems with ACE-I though. With 5mgx2 Ramipril my BP remains 110/70 most of the time.
Avatar n tn Dilated cardiomyopathy often is the result of an overworked heart. The medication (coreg and lisonpril) reduces the heart workload resulting in reverse remodeling of the heart and increased EF (ejection fraction of blood pumped with each heartbeat). Six years ago I had enlarged (remodeled) left ventricle and an EF 19-29% and hospitalized for heart failure...no symptoms until CHF...thought I was very healthy, and shocked to hear I had had a silent heart attack).
Avatar f tn I just read up on Coreg - - beta blocker, and on low blood pressure. Beta blockers can cause heart damage which then can cause low pulse - hense low blood pressure. He has 5 stents and is on crestor & plavix. He's also taking a multi vitamin & Omega 3 supplement. Can he stop taking the Coreg? Is there an alternative? He's strong and very active - physicallty & sexually. He's also taking Co Enzyme Q-10.
Avatar m tn It really depends on what is causing the heart failure. Did you suffer a lot of heart damage when you had a heart attack?
Avatar f tn and most beta blockers slows and stabilizes the heart rate, but Coreg is not just a beta blocker, it also has some ACE inhibitor characteristics as well.. Doesn't the AICD control the heart rate and negate that aspect of Coreg?
Avatar n tn I was off Coreg for 48 hours, on the treadmill I could only get my heart rate up to 130 or so. Perhaps I'll divide the half dosage to twice a day to see how that works...thanks again for the post..John To: John I was taking Coreg CR (slow release) single dose of 25mg once a day. I went back to 12,5 mg twice a day,and that works for me. I take an ACE inhibitor twice a day with coreg just before a meal. That has been regimen for years...Why are you on such a high dosage?
Avatar f tn I have been on coreg and vasotec since early on and have been well controlled with my EF staying around 43-45%. The last year I have had decreased exercise tolerance and my EF has gone down to around 40%. I exercise regularly and am very frustrated that I can't run anymore. My resting HR is too low to increase the coreg and my BP too low to increase vasotec. I can't run without my HR going into the 150's. I start to get SOB if I try to sustain a HR above 140.
Avatar n tn How long do people stay on Coreg?
Avatar n tn I have to agree with the CC doctor. You are not on the target doses of the Coreg or the ACEI, your Lisinopril. The Coreg target is 25-50 mg. twice a day. I think the Lisinopril would be 20 mg. per day. Now that may be because you absolutely cannot tolerate a higher dose, like me. Nevertheless, a CHF specialist would be a good start. I didn't qualify for a bi-v either. What is your BP? They want you as low as possible without passing out.
Avatar n tn s there. The Coreg does slow down my rapid heart beat, which does make me less anxious. But I wanted to be the little 103 year old great great grandma who still walks a mile a day, plays bingo every Wednesday and works part time at the local drug store, that is on my off time when I'm not travelling the world with all the money I made in my savy retirement accounts. Okay, enough. Who knows maybe that's still possible!
Avatar f tn All this started happening feb 21. before that heart rate around 100. The problem with more coreg or other beta blockers is the fact her bp too low 96 over 50 the majority of the time. I am soo scared for her, lanoxin prevents heart attack yet it could be the cause of very low platelets and she could bleed to death. catch 22. Her icd set at 160.
Avatar m tn s purpose is to lower HR and help the heart squeeze more blood with each beat to keep the heart from wearing out so quickly. How many mg. of Coreg are you taking?
Avatar n tn Of course, lots of things can cause headaches, but the fact that you did not have headaches before you were put on Coreg--and now you DO--makes a pretty strong case that Coreg is in some way responsible. Call your doctor and report this problem.
