Coreg heart drug

Common Questions and Answers about Coreg heart drug

coreg

Avatar n tn Did the operative report state that the damaged heart cells could be revived? Coreg is the drug of choice to revive those cells. Coreg is considered by some heart patients, me included as a wonder drug, Many, many people who take the drug have seen an increase in weight when it is administered, me included. However, it helped my heart health a great deal, the the weight gain was temporary.
Avatar f tn It could be dangerous to stop the Coreg as the heart gets used to it. Stopping beta blockers could cause heart failure. You can talk it over with your doctor to make sure, but I am sure that he or she will wean you off slowing if that is what is decided. Coreg, in my opinion, is one of the best beta blockers.
Avatar m tn First observation I know is correct, Coreg and Carvedilol are the exact same drug, except Carvedilol is the generic form of Coreg. Increasing the combination would mean over 120mg, an unheard of dosage. You are already taking a gorilla dose and that can cause a drop of EF in my opinion. EF ratings fluctuate. I'd ask for a BNP test that is used to determine the level of CHF one has. Usually less than 100 indicates no CHF.
Avatar f tn No permanent damage from coreg. Exactly as you mentioned, it can lower heart rate and blood pressure but it is otherwise a very safe drug. If you have severe asthma, you might need to be careful because it could aggravate wheezing but again, this would entirely resolve upon stopping the medication. Good luck. Dr.
Avatar m tn You would be at a high risk for worsening your heart problems if you get pregnant. I don't believe coreg is a category C drug meaning it hasn't been tested on pregnat humans but the fetus animal study doesn't look good. I had Peripartum Cardiomyopathy with my second child and had to stop breast feeding because of the coreg. even though I recovered completely without heart transplant I was told not to have anymore babies, because I may not be so lucky.
Avatar f tn Coreg (carvedilol) is a very effective beta blocker. All beta blockers can affect blood pressure and pulse rate, they work by controlling the adrenlin. They don't normally cause heart damage, however. Just the opposite, they improve heart efficiency. He might need a lower dose, I'm sure his doctor will weigh in on that issue. Don't under any circumstances stop taking it, one must taper off. I take the drug, and it has worked very well for my heart health.
Avatar n tn What could be causing this is adrenal problem. Triggers are caffeine, black licorce, and exercise. The Metoprolol blocks this. There is a drug that is a beta blocker called "Coreg". Coreg blocks more receptors. You may want to talk to your doctor about Coreg to see if that drug will make you feel better. Stay away from the triggers and if it happens during exercise, rest. I have episodes of this also, but my episodes are only a few times a month.
Avatar n tn I do believe Coreg is a miracle drug. As much as I hate it, I love it. Ask your doctor if Ranexa will help you.
Avatar f tn He had a cath 9-11 at a different facility by a different heart group and he has been told that his heart is completely clean with no blockages. He has been on Coreg for the past 3 years and a statin drug for 1 year. Is it possible that he would show absolutely no coronary disease like this?
Avatar m tn Coreg can and does cause a drop in stamina or wind. That said, it can awaken stunned heart cells like no other drug. You will be lucky if your heart rate exceeds 110. As long as you are taking a beta blocker, you should forget about your former performance and live with what you can do today. I know your worry, I was very athletic until heart problems occurred. However, Coreg really remodels the heart, have patience, and simply accept the fact that beta blockers changes exercise regimes.
Avatar n tn With the caveat that in the United States some general practicioners will refer you to a specialist before prescribing a drug that is used to treat heart failure there is no reason your physician should not respond favorably to your request.
Avatar m tn Of the medications you listed, I am very familiar with Coreg. Coreg is well known for causing profound fatigue. It's a fight to cope with it. Every one I know that takes it has fatigue problems. For suggestions, see http://www.wikihow.
Avatar m tn What I understand is lower the pulse rate better is the recovery of heart function. Are you able to maintain pulse rate below 70 bpm with present coreg dose and exercise regimen. I have no problems with ACE-I though. With 5mgx2 Ramipril my BP remains 110/70 most of the time.
Avatar n tn Yes, I truly worry about the effects of western medicine on us poor HMO suckers. Fortunately I do know why my doctor prescribed Coreg and from research I've done on my own, I think it's the right drug for me...just never wanted to be on medication long term and am still mourning the loss of the life I thought I was going to have (by that I mean, super healthy, drug free with no physical limitations).
Avatar f tn My dr said go ahead and start the coreg, and to take it only when things are over a 100.Well my pharmasist told me that coreg is a drug that needs to be taken daiely not as needed so im so confused. This dizziness is scaring me i feel kinda confused and like i havwe been hit in the chest hard but i havent. The cardolgist says my heart is fine and its mainly my anxiety.Has anyone had such bad dizziness before. The pahrmaisist says my body needs to adjust to getting off the tiazac...
Avatar f tn This drug is also known under the brand name of Coreg...it is a beta blocker used to treat hypertension among other things. How high is your heart rate?
Avatar m tn I will come off effient eventually and stay on a low dose aspirin. No problem. I would like to minimize the coreg and statin. The diet I am on is helpful for Nitric oxide and for endothelial health as well as providing some level natural ACE inhibition, and platelet aggregation inhibition, and is high in natural anti-oxidants. So, what will staying on 6.25 mg coreg and 10 mg pravastatin do for me in the long run?
406412 tn?1217438384 I HAVE READ - Coreg lowers blood pressure and increases the output of the heart - DOES THIS MEAD THAT IT INCREASES THE EJECTION FRACTION OF THE HEART? AND IF THIS IS TRUE - IF A PERSON WAS TO STOP TAKING COREG WOULD THEIR EF RATE DECREASE ? ? ?
Avatar m tn m exercising or training do I have any pain. My main symptoms are swelling in ankles, and a resting heart rate of 90. I've had two stress test, on stress echo, and one cardiolite stress. Both were normal and showed no blockage. My ejection Fracture was 38-40% I currently am on Coreg 3mg twice daily. and 2mg of lisinopril. I only take a few supplements, mostly, a multi-vitamin and joint supplement, Mirracle greens, fish oil, CLA and Protien shakes after workouts.
Avatar m tn My cardiologist gave me a number of 45. What does this mean? And he wants me to take Coreg. So is this heart failure or heart disease? I also have mvp and had been taking propranolol for 30 years.
Avatar f tn My EF was raised substantially by taking the drug Coreg and exercising.
Avatar m tn After my supposed MI last year my new cardiologist tells me it looks like I had broken-heart syndrome, or stress induced acute cardiomyopathy. left side of my heart peppered with minor damage and reduced EF (to about 45%). this is otherwise known as Takotsubo Cardiomyopathy. In the literature the recovery rate is very high for TC, and recovery occurs quickly. What I would like to know is whether this calls for long terms treatment with Coreg as a more typical cardiac event might call for.
