Common Questions and Answers about Coreg half life

coreg

Avatar m tn If you do not want to suffer a heart attack or stroke, you need to take the Plavix and aspirin. Lipitor is a cholesterol medication that have proven studies showing reducing cholesterol and reducing some cholesterol buildup already there. The medications are your life line and you need to take them as prescribed by your doctor. Are you having current side effects from the medications?
Avatar n tn I just posted something similar under an old question, so thought I would make it a separate expanded post. I've been on coreg (50mg) since I was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy in 2006 (age 54). I've seen doctors from UT Southwest to the Cleveland Clinic. My ejection fraction has been measured from mid 20s to mid 40s. The latest heart cath put it at 30%, the most recent echo put it at 36%.
Avatar n tn For the same, you can decrease the dose of coreg to 3.125 mg twice a day instead of giving it 6.25 mg once a day as it has got a short half life and stops acting after 12 hrs. The other option is to decrease the dose of lasix to 20 mg daily. Please make sure that she’s not taking any extra salt apart from the salt in her food like any salt on the salad, in the curd etc. However, a decrease in BP could be a manifestation of the worsening of the function of the heart. I hope that helps.
Avatar n tn The Coreg didn't improve my EF but it did improve my quality of life. Took about a year to start feeling better and now five years later feel pretty good and my EF has finally risen a little !
Avatar f tn The half-life of a drug is how long it takes for half of it to be eliminated from the bloodstream. Hope that helps.
6298176 tn?1380134459 It has a very long half life, though I can't give you specifics. The dose and how long you were on it does factor in. Your doctor should be able to help you with your questions on this.

Avatar n tn My husband is 55 years old and was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy 5 years ago (may have been alcoholic cardiomyopathy?) -- he has been on coreg and lisinopril for 5 years with very few side effects -- his cardiomyopathy has resoved and his heart is "healthy" back to normal size and function. He decided to stop taking his coreg and lisinopril last week. He is weaning himself down. I think he is crazy for doing this -- especially without telling the doctor .
Avatar m tn I met to say Coreg IS A category C drug, duh
Avatar m tn First a little about me. I'm 33 years old. 6'2"- 200-205 and 14% body fat and very fit. I workout reguarly, have been doing martial arts and crossfit for 15 years and am teacher. I ran an half marathon, 10 months ago. I've now been diagonosed with idiopathic cariodmyopathy. I' have no chest pain, occasional shortness of breath(with extreme or long effort). Not even when I'm exercising or training do I have any pain.

304450 tn?1192686333 I was wondering if anyone knew of and med that are good for increasing Ejection Fraction. I have been on Coreg for 4 years and my EF had decreased some. Please help if you know. My doctor has talked about adding low dose of Diovan. but that concerns me because my bp sometimes runs low with the coreg.
Avatar m tn Keep questioning your doctors. Getting the right cardiologist is all important. I fired my first one, then got a great one. Coreg is a true miracle drug which has helped many of us to survive and lead near normal lives. Everyone is different though with regard to their tolerance of Coreg. Too much will make you catatonic, too little will not be effective. Cardiologists will push their patients to take more and more till they pass out, then back off. That's their standard operating procedure.
Avatar f tn heart rate is in the 70s to 100s..My dr said go ahead and start the coreg, and to take it only when things are over a 100.Well my pharmasist told me that coreg is a drug that needs to be taken daiely not as needed so im so confused. This dizziness is scaring me i feel kinda confused and like i havwe been hit in the chest hard but i havent. The cardolgist says my heart is fine and its mainly my anxiety.Has anyone had such bad dizziness before.
Avatar m tn My cardiologist gave me a number of 45. What does this mean? And he wants me to take Coreg. So is this heart failure or heart disease? I also have mvp and had been taking propranolol for 30 years.
792040 tn?1237582438 If you have this diagnosis, it would be dangerous not to be on a beta blocker which is what Coreg is. Coreg is really the best beta blocker and blocks the most receptors. Now that you are on Coreg, you should try not to worry too much. Just do not miss a dose or go off of it suddenly. Follow-up with your doctor. If you experience flutter with the Coreg, make sure to see your doctor.
Avatar n tn Of course, lots of things can cause headaches, but the fact that you did not have headaches before you were put on Coreg--and now you DO--makes a pretty strong case that Coreg is in some way responsible. Call your doctor and report this problem.

535882 tn?1396576685 whats the half life for syntriod. about how much time does it take to build up in you and also leave your system?
Avatar n tn I had a minor heart attack in August 2008 and I had 5 stents put in. I was started on coreg 6.25 two tmes per day. The dr recently reduced me to 3.125 because of weight gain. I am still gaining weight. I decided to stop it altogether and did not tell my dr. My resting pulse is up as well as my pulse rate upon exertion. I just stopped the coreg. Will this regulate itself in a few days.
