Sent home from ER on low-dose meterprolol. Two days later end up in ER again, admitted for cardiomyopathy (which was news to me) and heart rate that was 118-130 sitting still. Echo performed and sent home by the cardiologist and told to eat more salt. Was not told the results of the Echo.

I have been diagnosed with an ejection fraction of less than 35 and a severe cardiac arrhythmia ( 32000 pvc's per 24 hrs ). My cardiologist put me on Coreg and gradually worked me up to a dosage of 25 mg BID. The arrhythmia has dropped to 37 but I feel absolutely horrible since being on the Coreg. I am constantly dizzy and fatigued. The slightest effort requires that I stop and rest. I feel like I have no strength nor any ambition to do anything. I have also gained weight.

I was diagnosed with high blood pressure in June 2009, My BP was 201/139 and I had headaches. I was sent to the ER for tests..EKG, lung x-ray, MRI of my head. They prescribed meds Metropol and I was released. I had an abnormal EKG and later discovered an EKG done in 2002 was identical so they told me it was my blueprint. All the other tests were normal. My PCP removed the metropol and put me on benicar 20mg. A couple of weeks later I went to see a cardio doc for chest pain and dizziness.

Of course, lots of things can cause headaches, but the fact that you did not have headaches before you were put on Coreg--and now you DO--makes a pretty strong case that Coreg is in some way responsible. Call your doctor and report this problem.

I had a minor heart attack in August 2008 and I had 5 stents put in. I was started on coreg 6.25 two tmes per day. The dr recently reduced me to 3.125 because of weight gain. I am still gaining weight. I decided to stop it altogether and did not tell my dr. My resting pulse is up as well as my pulse rate upon exertion. I just stopped the coreg. Will this regulate itself in a few days.

5 mg of metalozone (another water pill) every other day). Took him to the ER on Friday, they admitted him and gave IV diuretics and antibiotics. Released him today. Had triple by-pass in 05. Had 2 strokes within the past year. Last visit to cardiologist was an EF factor of 30-35%. Takes meds for high blood pressure and high chlorestrol. (sp?) What can I do to help this man?

He has me dropping to 12.5 of the Coreg and 50mg of the Tenormin twice a day for 4 days and then 6.25 Coreg and 50 Tenormin twice a day for 4 days, and then only the Tenormin 50 to 75 twice a day depending on BP numbers. Any one have any knowledge or thoughts about this? BTW I trust my Cardiologist but am nervous anytime I have to change meds!

This caused me to become very fatigued and my doctor attributed it to the Coreg so he switched me to 10mg Norvasc every day (after weaning off the Coreg for 3 days). This was 2 weeks ago and I'm still feeling the same fatigue. How long does Coreg stay in your system after you stop taking it? I know that Lexapro can cause tiredness as well, but my doctor seemed to think otherwise.

ER visit for left arm numbness/tingling and mild chest pain, slight transient nausea. lasted about an hour prior to ER, during which time I took a 325 mg aspirin. Upon admission and initial meds I felt better and was kept in ER all night with no further complications. Echo and other evaluations leading to an angioplasty 12 hours after admission. RCA was found to be 90% blocked - hard and calcified and two other arteries with 20 and 30% blockage.

Try cutting back, and it is not unusual for the heartrate not to increase very high with exercise. I believe you asked about another beta blocker as a substitute for coreg. Coreg as a dual mechanism as it also has an ACE inhibitor effects that helps dilate vessels. It is highly recommended for heart patients. Take care.

I am curious as to your opinion regarding the use of coreg for blood pressure control for a juvenile diabetic, with renal problems (37%) function. The coreg causes problems controlling the blood sugar in the patient, and it causes bouts of vomiting and loss of consciousness it also causes very low blood pressures, fatigue and shortness of breath.

Other than lowering your pulse and blood pressure, if you took Coreg but did not need it, could it cause other damage? What symptoms would you have? I am on Coreg as a trial to see if it fixes my chronic shortness of breath. I just wondered if it was safe to do so or if it could cause permanent damage if in fact I did not need it.

I take coreg twice a day, but coreg cr is a slow release medication for once a day. The recommendation is 1 capsule each morning wih breakfast that will help lower blood pressure all day and all night.

It seems logical to take the medication with the morning meal. I take Coreg twice a day, rather than Coreg CR one a day with the extended release. My blood pressure and heart rate is very good.

It is a combination of Coreg and Tropol XL, I believe. This gives all the benefits of Coreg and reduces the tiredness that people complain about. Our relatives in Europe use the medication and have energy to travel to US and all around the states. I am not sure what the name will be of the medication when it becomes available in the US. Salmon, fish oil, and dark chocolate have been shown to raise HDL levels. Your level should be in the 50's if you can get it there.

I just posted something similar under an old question, so thought I would make it a separate expanded post. I've been on coreg (50mg) since I was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy in 2006 (age 54). I've seen doctors from UT Southwest to the Cleveland Clinic. My ejection fraction has been measured from mid 20s to mid 40s. The latest heart cath put it at 30%, the most recent echo put it at 36%.

On carvedilol (aka coreg) 6.25 mg 2x a day and lisinipril 10 mg a day to help protect my heart and keep my bp down from a pregnancy induced cardiomyopathy. I have some dizziness probably from both and some short term memory issues from the coreg. Wondering if anyone else has had the memory issues w/coreg, glad my dose isn't any higher.

He has always had very low heart rate and BP, however recently his physician has request him to start taking Coreg CR to help reduce cardiac workload. Our concern is that he already is bradycardic and the effects may worsen this symptom. Is this a routine or normal thing to do? I take Coreg CR 20 mg per day. I have noticed since taking it, my energy level has decreased, but then it seemed to improve, but then I started on Lisinopril and energy level dropped again, then after a month or so improved, then I got sick a lot (have small kids with big mean germs) and my energy level fluctuates, so don't know what to think. All this has occured over about a 4 month period...probalby not long enough to make me any kind of expert.
