s the placebo effect or not, but I actually do feel a bit better the next day when I skip my coreg dosage in the morning. I don't want to do my heart any long term damage, but I would love to get off some of these meds. Is there a substitute for coreg without fatigue? Anyone else have any feedback for me? I want to put more "living" in my days.

I had the problem with coreg (beta blocker and ace inhibitor). Coreg Cr is a single slow acting dose, and the same coreg dosage split to twice a day (morning and night) was more effective. Talk to your doctor.

I have been taking 10mg Lisinopril/HCTZ for quite some time, a much higher dosage than yours - no headaches ever, so my vote is on Coreg.

My husband is 55 years old and was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy 5 years ago (may have been alcoholic cardiomyopathy?) -- he has been on coreg and lisinopril for 5 years with very few side effects -- his cardiomyopathy has resoved and his heart is "healthy" back to normal size and function. He decided to stop taking his coreg and lisinopril last week. He is weaning himself down. I think he is crazy for doing this -- especially without telling the doctor .

You are taking a huge dosage of Coreg, and certainly I would follow your doctor's orders and only his orders.

I have recently stopped taking Coreg 6.25ng and started on Cozaar 50mg to manage my blood pressure which is working out really great according to measurements. I was weaned from Coreg by taking just my dosage at night and skipping the morning one for two weeks and then to stop. Since about a week after I cut down to once a day I started to notice a constant pounding heart.

First observation I know is correct, Coreg and Carvedilol are the exact same drug, except Carvedilol is the generic form of Coreg. Increasing the combination would mean over 120mg, an unheard of dosage. You are already taking a gorilla dose and that can cause a drop of EF in my opinion. EF ratings fluctuate. I'd ask for a BNP test that is used to determine the level of CHF one has. Usually less than 100 indicates no CHF.

You are doing a good job of altering your Coreg dosage. I have been actually splitting tablets of 6.125 to get varying strengths but it seems you use only the 3.125 in multiple doses. Is this the way you go? Problem here is that the docs Rx in only one strength usually starting at 6.125 since they hardly believe the 3.125 is of any use. I will try to get an Rx of 3.125 with note for multiple daily use.

I imagine they're trained to know which medications work best for which heart problems. As for dosage, I'm not sure. If you look at a PDR the book mentions standard dosages for children, adults and geriatric folks. I know with the antibiotics I use at work we choose which antibiotic works best for which type of injury or specific bacteria. I always calculate dosage according to species (mammals have a different calculation compared to birds or reptiles) and weight.

Hi what were you put on the Coreg (cardevidoilol) for? It is not a drug usually prescribed for palps. It is prescribed as treatment for CHF (congestive heart failure) 50mg twice a day is the maximum dosage, most people never go past using 25mg twice daily. If you are having palpitations you may want to be checked for what type of arrhythmia you are suffering from and then have a drug prescribed to combat that. Coreg is not going to help you with rhythm irregularities.

I have been diagnosed with an ejection fraction of less than 35 and a severe cardiac arrhythmia ( 32000 pvc's per 24 hrs ). My cardiologist put me on Coreg and gradually worked me up to a dosage of 25 mg BID. The arrhythmia has dropped to 37 but I feel absolutely horrible since being on the Coreg. I am 29 yrs old 120 lbs with no other health problems. I take 80 mgs extended release Coreg and 40 mgs of Benicar but my blood pressure still gets up to 170/105 and a resting heart rate of 120 sometimes. I am taking 2x12.5 mg coreg (carvidilol) for last three years and was able to tolerate it. Now, after three years, for last one month, I am having low bp. Down to 95/65 from normal of 110/70. I started taking a low dosage of Coreg to raise my EF and slowly increased it. I got tired at first but my body adjusted quickly. It did increase my weight initially but the weight came off again. Coreg did indeed raise my EF out of the CHF range and I feel 100% better, so I had a completely different outcome. I would suggest you see if you can talk to a Cardiologist at a research hospital to see why BP drugs react so strangely with you. Good luck.

Thanks for the tip! I'll talk to my doctor more about the Coreg. I take 20 mg once per day, which is, I believe a somewhat low dosage. I'm curious if the Coreg makes everyone feel so tired all the time. I've read/heard many people say that it does. It certainly wipes me out. Good luck with round 2 on your ICD! By the way, how was the replacment surgery compared with the original?

Test revealed he was at a 45% capacity. Heart not pumping enough blood out. No blockages, but now he is at 35%. He just started COREG. What does this say for the future and his heart. He was told not to exercise at this point. They believe the blood pools in the heart then throws the clots out. Is he in heart failure.

m 31 yrs old, was diagnosed with perinatal heart failure in feb of 09, with only 25% heart function. I was placed on Coreg 3.125mg 2x a day and 40mg Lasix a day, I stayed at these doses for 6 months and had my second echo at the 4 month mark, my heart returned to normal size, little to no weakness in the upper chamber of my heart and my function was at 50%.

I did talk to my ep abt raising my Coreg, he is hesitant because im also on another beta blocker at more than max dosage(320mg sotalol 2/day. Also there is some confuison whether u should regularly exercise or not , coz we are advised to rest our hearts, then why exercise. I am able to walk more than a mile without any problem.

I had a minor heart attack in August 2008 and I had 5 stents put in. I was started on coreg 6.25 two tmes per day. The dr recently reduced me to 3.125 because of weight gain. I am still gaining weight. I decided to stop it altogether and did not tell my dr. My resting pulse is up as well as my pulse rate upon exertion. I just stopped the coreg. Will this regulate itself in a few days.
