Coreg blood pressure

Common Questions and Answers about Coreg blood pressure

coreg

Avatar n tn s in Methodist Hospital in Memphis, TN, but nothing is working. They have her on Coreg (heart medicine and Minitodil for blood pressure). Please help me if you can, we need to find someone who specializes in Syncope and in very low blood pressure. Sometimes upon standing the nurses can't even get a reading on her blood pressure because it drops so low.
406412 tn?1217438384 I HAVE READ - Coreg lowers blood pressure and increases the output of the heart - DOES THIS MEAD THAT IT INCREASES THE EJECTION FRACTION OF THE HEART? AND IF THIS IS TRUE - IF A PERSON WAS TO STOP TAKING COREG WOULD THEIR EF RATE DECREASE ? ? ?
Avatar f tn I generally have normal to low blood pressure and am worried that these drugs will lower my blood pressure even more causing me to feel lightheaded (which I already do sometimes) and perhaps even faint. I have a 6-yr-old daughter to take care of and can't afford to be incapacitated by dizziness. Is there an alternative to these drugs?
Avatar f tn Other than lowering your pulse and blood pressure, if you took Coreg but did not need it, could it cause other damage? What symptoms would you have? I am on Coreg as a trial to see if it fixes my chronic shortness of breath. I just wondered if it was safe to do so or if it could cause permanent damage if in fact I did not need it.
475570 tn?1280941363 The recommendation is 1 capsule each morning wih breakfast that will help lower blood pressure all day and all night.
Avatar n tn Is it possible for ace inhibitors to raise your blood pressure? I just started to take ramipril at night and now my bood pressure is elevated in the morning. I used to take it in the morning and my bp was higher in the evening.
Avatar n tn I am curious as to your opinion regarding the use of coreg for blood pressure control for a juvenile diabetic, with renal problems (37%) function. The coreg causes problems controlling the blood sugar in the patient, and it causes bouts of vomiting and loss of consciousness it also causes very low blood pressures, fatigue and shortness of breath.
475570 tn?1280941363 I take Coreg twice a day, rather than Coreg CR one a day with the extended release. My blood pressure and heart rate is very good.
Avatar n tn I was previously on 12.5 mg of Coreg 2X a day for high blood pressure. I am also taking 10mg of Lexapro a day for anxiety. This caused me to become very fatigued and my doctor attributed it to the Coreg so he switched me to 10mg Norvasc every day (after weaning off the Coreg for 3 days). This was 2 weeks ago and I'm still feeling the same fatigue. How long does Coreg stay in your system after you stop taking it?
Avatar f tn now that my heart has healed, should I continue to remain taking the Coreg that I have taken for 13 years? Would it be better to stop now? I do continue to have high blood pressure and take Diovan and a diuretic, Spironolactone, in addtion to the Coreg. Again, my main question is...Should I continue with Coreg?
Avatar f tn I just read up on Coreg - - beta blocker, and on low blood pressure. Beta blockers can cause heart damage which then can cause low pulse - hense low blood pressure. He has 5 stents and is on crestor & plavix. He's also taking a multi vitamin & Omega 3 supplement. Can he stop taking the Coreg? Is there an alternative? He's strong and very active - physicallty & sexually. He's also taking Co Enzyme Q-10.
Avatar m tn I'm a 26 year-old male. A week ago I had an episode of high blood pressure (180/110) and palpitations. I called my doctor the next day and he prescribed me Lotrel (5/20mg). My BP came down to ~120/90. I stopped taking the Lotrel after the first day, BP shot up to 170/122, went to emergency. Saw my doctor yesterday, he checked blood and urine work (all clean), did EKG and said I have a fast heart rate (~90-95bpm) and hypertension. He prescribed me Coreg CR 80mg. Is the Coreg CR necessary?
Avatar n tn I take coreg with lisinopril to lower heart rate and lower blood pressure. Coreg can lower the HR, and as you know, I very slow heart rate can cause clots, and with MVR an individual is more vulnerable. My docotor wants my BP as low as possible without side effects such as passing out!. And I believe the lowest possible BP is generally the goal as you stated. But coreg also effects the heart rate, so that enters the equation for optimal dosage.
Avatar m tn Are you switching meds due to low blood pressure? Be careful making this switch. Coreg blocks more receptors. Tenormin does not stay at constant levels throughout the day. Tenormin peaks and then drops. After being on our Tenormin, you may feel terrific and full of energy, but after 2 weeks the opposite can happen. My mom went into heart failure and her left ventricle starting giving out after switching from Toprol XL to Tenormin (actually Atentol, Tenormin's generic).
Avatar n tn Coreg helps regulate a normal heartbeat and lower blood pressure. A reduction to 3.125 twice a day is lowest therapeutic value, and the medication should not be discontinued without doctor's advice. If you had a minor heart attack, you may need medication. I don't know of any weight gain associated with coreg, the reduction of coreg may be for other reasons other than weight gain.
Avatar f tn Mom is 87 years old and has high blood pressure (HBP) for many years, she is taking a few different medications to control her blood pressure. Her blood pressure has not really gotten better, but stable. But now, we noticed her bp is getting over 200 especially in the late afternoon or at night. Why? I am really worried. Doctor told her to take one additional Bystolic when the BP is too high. But this is not right.
Avatar f tn what will happen if I quit taking my blood pressure medication? (Toprol 100 mg) I've been on it for 3 years.
Avatar n tn I have extremely dry skin and am on a couple of blood pressure lowering drugs. I think this is perhaps more part of the aging process. I could be wrong though. As I have aged I have noticed my skin seems to be thinner as I cut so easily. And let's not start me up on the bruising.
Avatar n tn The fact that his blood pressure drops after the meds is a good thing. It lets you know the meds are working.
Avatar n tn We have always found ourselves concerned with keeping his blood pressure from being too high. In the past 8 months he has been hospitalized about a dozen times for fluid overload. He has had to stop working and is basically home bound if not bed ridden some days. His blood pressure has now dropped to anywhere from 110 - 90 on the top and 40-55 on the bottom. Is this a sign that his heart has gotten worse? He takes several meds including plavix and coreg.
Avatar f tn After a lifetime of lower than average blood pressure (90/60) and virtually no headaches, in the last two months I have developed high BP and a constant headache. Doctor visit for headache found BP at 150/93. Coreg/20mg was prescribed. After a week BP dipped very slightly, and Coreg/40mg was prescribed. Results were not much better. The ache is “whole head” and in back of neck. It’s a little better in the morning but gets worse through the day, correlating with BP going as high as 161/90.
Avatar f tn My electrophysiolgist/cardiologist prescribed Coreg and Lisinopril for my condition. I have episodes of ventricular tachycardia, apparently brought on by a focal wall abnormality in my left ventricle. I also have atrial fibrillation. I have an ICD as well. When I mention to other doctors that I take these medications, they insist I must have high blood pressure. I don't have high blood pressure and never have.
Avatar n tn My husband has High Blood Pressure, and has been doing great on his meds for over a year, he runs, walks, & we take dance lesson, just the other day th B/P shot up , the Dr. added Norvasc to the regament, he is schedule for a stress test and was told to hold his coreg the day before, and can take the next days dose after the test. Why is this?
Avatar f tn The EF is a new finding as of Jan. 2011. My blood pressure drops too low with the coreg 3.125 mg and lisinopril at 2.5 mg taken at the same time along with the aldactone. No one ever questioned why i had afib at 28.
Avatar m tn s and congestive heart failure has extremely labile blood pressure. She can have a systolic bp of 84 which leads to fainting and an hour later a systolic of 150!. Her bp meds are Norvasc, 5 mg, 1/day, Coreg, 40 mg, 1/day; Enalapril, 20 mg, 2/day. She has had 4 fainting episodes in the past 15 months and has been very lucky that she has not seriously hurt herself as she fell. Her bp can vary from 120/70, to 160/90, to the 85 to 100 systolics which lead to fainting.
Avatar m tn Just so you know, on the maximal amount of Coreg and Lisinopril that your heart rate and blood pressure can handle, the heart muscle can get stronger and we can see the EF improve!!! I think you may have 15 years left to your heart but you need to be very careful and take all of your medications (never stop plavix again with all of the stents you have) as prescribed and continue exercising at least 30 min 3-4x per week.
214864 tn?1229715239 My doctor started me on it due to rapid heart beat (tachycardia) and high blood pressure. Boy it sucked the energy right out of me! I hated it. I lost a lot of weight and abruptly stopped it (I thought I didn't need it anymore), which is a NO NO! But I didn't know though....2 months later I had an mi and stroke. So, I can tell you that the likelihood that Coreg is energy draining and Lisinopril is probably not, is high. This is just from my experience.
