Coreg and weight loss

Common Questions and Answers about Coreg and weight loss

coreg

Avatar f tn Can you please tell me why I am not succeeding in losing weight and or inches OR something else I might try to achieve my weight loss and lose a few inches or at least tighten up my flabby arms none of which have occured over the last 8 months. Do people with CHF have an impossible time losing weight or inches. Am I ever going to see even the slightest little bit of results ?
Avatar f tn It is a combination of Coreg and Tropol XL, I believe. This gives all the benefits of Coreg and reduces the tiredness that people complain about. Our relatives in Europe use the medication and have energy to travel to US and all around the states. I am not sure what the name will be of the medication when it becomes available in the US. Salmon, fish oil, and dark chocolate have been shown to raise HDL levels. Your level should be in the 50's if you can get it there.
Avatar n tn One of my closest friends has heart issues like me quit Coreg because of weight gain, and had quadruple bypass surgery in two weeks. Consider my post, and do keep us informed.
Avatar f tn I also told him I was on Jenny Craig for losing weight (and have lost 15 pounds) - he still put me on Coreg CR which is impeding my weight loss. I understand my heart is more important - but I went on a weight loss management to help my heart. I'm just at a loss as to follow through with this dr that acted unprofessionally or start over - my mother recommends another guy in the practice - or can I now see my family physician for blood pressure meds? Seeking guidance.
Avatar f tn In spite of an active lifestyle, good diet, regular exercise, good sleep pattern and general well being, I have put on weight and do not seem to be able to take it off. Could there be a connection with my heart issues or the meds that I am taking?
Avatar n tn The coreg causes problems controlling the blood sugar in the patient, and it causes bouts of vomiting and loss of consciousness it also causes very low blood pressures, fatigue and shortness of breath.
Avatar n tn He takes several meds including plavix and coreg. He also gets 160-200mg of lasix shot through a pic line in his arm each day. Once or twice a week he gets metalazone if he gains a few pounds. His heart rate has gone from being in the 70s and 80s to sometimes as low as 45 to jumping as high as 130. Is the change in the heart rate and blood pressure a sign of worsening heart disease? Does it indicate any time frame we are dealing with?
Avatar m tn I will come off effient eventually and stay on a low dose aspirin. No problem. I would like to minimize the coreg and statin. The diet I am on is helpful for Nitric oxide and for endothelial health as well as providing some level natural ACE inhibition, and platelet aggregation inhibition, and is high in natural anti-oxidants. So, what will staying on 6.25 mg coreg and 10 mg pravastatin do for me in the long run?
Avatar f tn Well, first of all weight loss would be a great help to all of the issues he has as well as a low salt diet. There is also a drug called carvedilol (Coreg) that actually restructures the heart, it doesnt work for everyone but in my case a many others our hearts have returned to normal after having taken the meds for awhile. So have him talk to the Dr.s about that and see what they say. He should also be eligable for cardio rehab, which would be a good place to start for the exercise he needs.
214864 tn?1229715239 I have been taking 20 mg of Coreg CR (continuous release) and have gained a lot of weight in a short period of time. I am considering talking to my cardio and trying a switch to Bystolic. Both are the latest generation of beta blockers, and do more than the older beta blockers. Another thing that would help me is to know if Bystolic drains the energy from you like most beta blockers because of what they do.
343006 tn?1314446471 iv been off the coreg now for over 14 hours - and will soon go back on the verapamil and dieretic pills as I would rather live with swollen ankles and get out of breath here and there.. at least my b.p was down to normal levels. coreg didnt lower my b.p down .. it stayed up 2days of this ! and its pure horse plop ! Isnt there a law somewhere that protects us people from these drug makers.. not to use fillers , that can cause such problems ! its insane !!
Avatar n tn I had the problem with coreg (beta blocker and ace inhibitor). Coreg Cr is a single slow acting dose, and the same coreg dosage split to twice a day (morning and night) was more effective. Talk to your doctor.
Avatar f tn My electrophysiolgist/cardiologist prescribed Coreg and Lisinopril for my condition. I have episodes of ventricular tachycardia, apparently brought on by a focal wall abnormality in my left ventricle. I also have atrial fibrillation. I have an ICD as well. When I mention to other doctors that I take these medications, they insist I must have high blood pressure. I don't have high blood pressure and never have.
Avatar m tn I'm a 62 yr. old male. I also do distance running. I had double by-pass surgery last May. My main artery had 65% blockage and my EF was 30-35 at time. I also have asthma which I thought was my problem at time since my breathing was getting worse. My EF is now near 50. Should I still be experiencing shortness of breath from heart problem? Know my max heart rate when exercising should be around 165 for my age. Where should it be when I'm running or lifting weights?
Avatar n tn I have CHF and EF of 25%, currently on 80 mg of Coreg and 30 mg lisinopril along with lasixs. I asked my doctor the same question. I was informed that if I stopped the Coreg my heart would eventually return to the same EF of 25%. Not a wise thing to stop the medication. You are at risk for Sudden Death Syndrome. If your heart were to get into an irregular rythm you could die. Please advise him to talk to his doctor.
Avatar n tn My girlfriend was diagnosed with it and has been prescribed coreg 3.125 twice a day. This med has caused her to go up in pants size from an 8 to now a 12. She's getting really upset over this and so I'm asking you if there is something else out there that does the same t hing as coreg but doesn't make a person gain weight? thanks for your time......
Avatar m tn quadruple Coreg and triple Carvedilol. And get an ICD. Its the standard protocol, they say. But again, I feel great ... and with my long-standing exercise program (brisk walk 4 days/week for 4 miles plus another walk 1 day/week between 7.5-9.5 miles) and a very healthy diet, I see no reason to agree. What am I looking for? At a bare minimum, a supportive doctor who is willing to think outside the "standard protocol" box ...
406399 tn?1201884300 its just very hard to find a hmo or even ppo doctor that will work with me. and switch meds. I am at a loss to figure why they put me on this medication toprol xl , as from what I read, its used most for people with heart failure ? I dont have heart failure and last tests show I dont ? maybe its money bonus pay they get ?? hate to think that but can happen!! sure wracks my brain !!
Avatar f tn I have also noticed hair loss and fatigue has anyone else experienced hair loss and fatigue from taking this drug?
Avatar m tn It is safe and does not come with any risks, so if you are on good anti-anginal medications such as beta-blockers (I know you are on Coreg) and nitrates and/or ranexa and you are still having angina then I would recommend EECP if we could not fix anything with another stent.
4237975 tn?1351595953 Lifestyle changes include limiting physical activity, eating a heart healthy diet, completely avoiding alcohol and/or tobacco use, practice relaxation techniques like yoga and keeping a daily weight diary to keep a tab on weight changes. Medications such as digoxin and beta blockers help to improve the pumping capacity of the heart. Discuss these options with your consulting doctor. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
907968 tn?1292622204 I imagine they're trained to know which medications work best for which heart problems. As for dosage, I'm not sure. If you look at a PDR the book mentions standard dosages for children, adults and geriatric folks. I know with the antibiotics I use at work we choose which antibiotic works best for which type of injury or specific bacteria. I always calculate dosage according to species (mammals have a different calculation compared to birds or reptiles) and weight.
Avatar m tn I was on coreg when I was in the hospital and was discharged. I was on coreg for 2 months and then my Cardiologist took me off it. He tried Lisinopril while I was in the hospital however the combo of HCTZ and Coreg and the Ace inhib was causing me to feel dizzy and ill. Now it has been 8 months after my hospitalization and they are trying Lisinopril again. I am up to 5mg and my BP is 90/60 , I feel a little off balance.
Avatar n tn The chest pains got worse and my PCP switched me from the Coreg to Benicar 40mg since my BP was not low enough and my chest pains increased on the Coreg. A new cardiologist did a nuclear stress test and a calcium score test and i wore an event monitor for 21 days.and it came out negative for any problems. I have also had a renal ultrasound, an abdominal ultrasound, cartoid artery ultrasound, x-ray of back and neck and all were fine.
Avatar f tn Are you weighing yourself daily and recording your weight? If your weight changes every day, you need to notify your doctor (your doctor may need to adjust your Bumex dosage). Make sure that you are eating healthy (eating mostly fresh vegetables). Your blood pressure is good, not that low. You seem to be taking good care of yourself! Take care.
Avatar n tn I was just put on coreg since june6th and have been having severe headaches from it and tiredness. Is there any side effects between these three that can give me these headaches? I was fine until I was out on coreg.
Avatar m tn My medication was an ACE inhiitor and coreg (coreg is a dual mechanism with ACE inhibitor and beta blocker properities and helps dilate vessels and stabilize heart rate). Dilated cardiomyopathy is an enlargement of the left ventricle, and an enlarged LV can cause arrhythmia (irregular heat rate), and an enlarged LV decreases pumping strength (low EF).
