My electrophysiolgist/cardiologist prescribed Coreg and Lisinopril for my condition. I have episodes of ventricular tachycardia, apparently brought on by a focal wall abnormality in my left ventricle. I also have atrial fibrillation. I have an ICD as well. When I mention to other doctors that I take these medications, they insist I must have high blood pressure. I don't have high blood pressure and never have.
Just so you know, on the maximal amount of Coreg and Lisinopril that your heart rate and blood pressure can handle, the heart muscle can get stronger and we can see the EF improve!!! I think you may have 15 years left to your heart but you need to be very careful and take all of your medications (never stop plavix again with all of the stents you have) as prescribed and continue exercising at least 30 min 3-4x per week.
I take coreg with lisinopril to lower heart rate and lower blood pressure. Coreg can lower the HR, and as you know, I very slow heart rate can cause clots, and with MVR an individual is more vulnerable.
My docotor wants my BP as low as possible without side effects such as passing out!. And I believe the lowest possible BP is generally the goal as you stated. But coreg also effects the heart rate, so that enters the equation for optimal dosage.
I was previously on 12.5 mg of Coreg 2X a day for high blood pressure. I am also taking 10mg of Lexapro a day for anxiety. This caused me to become very fatigued and my doctor attributed it to the Coreg so he switched me to 10mg Norvasc every day (after weaning off the Coreg for 3 days). This was 2 weeks ago and I'm still feeling the same fatigue. How long does Coreg stay in your system after you stop taking it?
now that my heart has healed, should I continue to remain taking the Coreg that I have taken for 13 years? Would it be better to stop now? I do continue to have high blood pressure and take Diovan and a diuretic, Spironolactone, in addtion to the Coreg. Again, my main question is...Should I continue with Coreg?
I have CHF and EF of 25%, currently on 80 mg of Coreg and 30 mg lisinopril along with lasixs. I asked my doctor the same question. I was informed that if I stopped the Coreg my heart would eventually return to the same EF of 25%. Not a wise thing to stop the medication. You are at risk for Sudden Death Syndrome. If your heart were to get into an irregular rythm you could die. Please advise him to talk to his doctor.

Mom is 87 years old and has high blood pressure (HBP) for many years, she is taking a few different medications to control her blood pressure. I just found out that I'm pregnant, and my blood sugar is literally all over the place. One hour it will be 140, and the next hour it will be 240. I have another week until my endocrinologist appointment, and I am VERY NERVOUS. PLEASE HELP!? What can I do to keep it down until my Dr appointments? I'm limiting my carbs, and excercising. Can someone tell me how high your blood sugar should get before you become alarmed or call the doctor? I have not been diagnosed but a few months and my doctor has not told me much of nothing. s endocronologist said that sometimes adrenaline can make your blood sugar rise. Maybe you could do some research on adrenaline and blood sugars rising. I had never heard of this before, but it makes sense. I am thinking that being a firefighter would take alot of adrenaline and would be stressful too. Stress makes my blood sugars rise very high too.
I m Type-1 diabetic from last 15 years and my blood sugar level used to be under control but from last 2 Weeks, my sugar level fluctuates a lot. Fasting blood sugar is nearly around 300 : before dinner around 500 and after dinner its around 400.There is no change in my diet,exercise or my daily routine pattern. Even I take short acting insulin(novorapid) when my sugar level goes beyond 300 but it doesn't make much difference.

You need to eat with in one to two hours after waking....my sugar will actually go up if I don't eat. My liver starts to make sugar and since I don't produce enough insulin and can't adequately use the insulin I produce it will just keep rising! Strangely enough, as soon as I eat - the levels will stabilize.
It is a combination of Coreg and Tropol XL, I believe. This gives all the benefits of Coreg and reduces the tiredness that people complain about. Our relatives in Europe use the medication and have energy to travel to US and all around the states. I am not sure what the name will be of the medication when it becomes available in the US.
Salmon, fish oil, and dark chocolate have been shown to raise HDL levels. Your level should be in the 50's if you can get it there.
My cariologist wants my blood pressure less than 120/80, and as low as possible without side effects. The coreg with lisinopril does dilate the vessels and maintains heart rate stability, and if there is a side effect of lightheadedness, etc. the doctor would adjust or find the medication that is right for you.

I'm a 26 year-old male. A week ago I had an episode of high blood pressure (180/110) and palpitations. I called my doctor the next day and he prescribed me Lotrel (5/20mg). My BP came down to ~120/90. I stopped taking the Lotrel after the first day, BP shot up to 170/122, went to emergency.
Saw my doctor yesterday, he checked blood and urine work (all clean), did EKG and said I have a fast heart rate (~90-95bpm) and hypertension. He prescribed me Coreg CR 80mg.
Is the Coreg CR necessary?
