Coreg and benicar

Common Questions and Answers about Coreg and benicar

coreg

Avatar f tn If you have time to shed a little light on this, I would appreciate it. After two weeks on Coreg and just a small decrease in BP, I took 20mg Benicar this morning (10mg four hours apart), and my BP went down to 98/60 (normal for me). My headache all but vanished, and I feel limp as a dishrag. Why did Coreg not hit the mark, while little-known Benicar did? Is this an indicator of the cause of my high BP and headaches? Thank you.
Avatar n tn The chest pains got worse and my PCP switched me from the Coreg to Benicar 40mg since my BP was not low enough and my chest pains increased on the Coreg. A new cardiologist did a nuclear stress test and a calcium score test and i wore an event monitor for 21 days.and it came out negative for any problems. I have also had a renal ultrasound, an abdominal ultrasound, cartoid artery ultrasound, x-ray of back and neck and all were fine.
Avatar f tn I am 29 yrs old 120 lbs with no other health problems. I take 80 mgs extended release Coreg and 40 mgs of Benicar but my blood pressure still gets up to 170/105 and a resting heart rate of 120 sometimes. Is it possible that I just got used to the medication? I just had an angiogram and they gave me many medications but I was still fully awake which they said was odd. Could I possibly just have a high tolerance to medication? Also this is the first time that I really have been on any meds.
Avatar n tn a day before the surgery along with Zocor to control cholesterol. I am now on Plavix, Toprol XL, Zocor and Benicar. My blood pressure has been low, in the range of 90/60 since the surgery but the cardiologist wants me to continue the Benicar. He said it's "good for the heart". Has anyone ever heard of this before? My understanding was that Benicar is for high BP. Also, I have been feeling very down and blue a lot of the time.
Avatar f tn My ef is 35% and I take coreg 3.125 mg 2 x a day, benicar 10 mg daily, hct 25 mg daily and lexapro 20 mg daily.
1260320 tn?1270394906 Benicar keeps blood vessels from narrowing, which lowers blood pressure and improves blood flow. Benicar HCT has a diuretic included as well. I have been fortunate, Benicar has worked from the first day I took it and works well still today. My 90 day average BP is 108/67 down from 135/85 when I started. I have had no side effects as well, the best of both worlds!
Avatar m tn Before the Losartan, I was taking 90 mgs of Armour (which is T3 AND T4) daily. After just a few weeks on the Losartan, I became hyperthyroid for a while, and my doctor lowered my dose of Armour (down to 60.) I have not noticed heat intolerance, but I am losing weight--slowly (which I don't mind as I am about 20 lbs over bikini-wearing level.) Never heard of the Marshall protocol, but I'm going to look it up!
Avatar f tn It is a combination of Coreg and Tropol XL, I believe. This gives all the benefits of Coreg and reduces the tiredness that people complain about. Our relatives in Europe use the medication and have energy to travel to US and all around the states. I am not sure what the name will be of the medication when it becomes available in the US. Salmon, fish oil, and dark chocolate have been shown to raise HDL levels. Your level should be in the 50's if you can get it there.
Avatar n tn I had the problem with coreg (beta blocker and ace inhibitor). Coreg Cr is a single slow acting dose, and the same coreg dosage split to twice a day (morning and night) was more effective. Talk to your doctor.
Avatar m tn i went too take my meds and took the wrong stuff, im on benicar 40/25 my wife is on benicar 20 make along srory short ive took 120mg of benicar by mistake should i be worried
Avatar n tn I also have had an elevated BUN and Creatinine since beginning Benicar. I am also on Toprol XL 25mg daily. My Benicar dose was dropped from 40 to 20 mg daily last visit. I am concerned about the elevated BUn as it is indicative of renal issues. I drink more water daily and will see on my next visit to doc in Sep what we will do as a plan if my labs are abnormal. I might add I think these 2 have also elevated my cholesterol and LDL! Look forward to follow up note.
Avatar f tn My electrophysiolgist/cardiologist prescribed Coreg and Lisinopril for my condition. I have episodes of ventricular tachycardia, apparently brought on by a focal wall abnormality in my left ventricle. I also have atrial fibrillation. I have an ICD as well. When I mention to other doctors that I take these medications, they insist I must have high blood pressure. I don't have high blood pressure and never have.
Avatar m tn I am going to be asking my doctor that same question!! I never had anxiety until I started taking Benicar and I am only on 10 mg 1x per day.
Avatar n tn About a year ago I was put on high blood pressure medication, Benicar 20mg a day. I have never had any types of heart issue and in the last year have developed or started to notice regular PVC's. I have had them checked out and they are PVC's and they drive me nuts because they make me feel real uncomfortable. Could the PVC's be caused by the benicar?
Avatar n tn I have CHF and EF of 25%, currently on 80 mg of Coreg and 30 mg lisinopril along with lasixs. I asked my doctor the same question. I was informed that if I stopped the Coreg my heart would eventually return to the same EF of 25%. Not a wise thing to stop the medication. You are at risk for Sudden Death Syndrome. If your heart were to get into an irregular rythm you could die. Please advise him to talk to his doctor.
Avatar n tn Dear Doctor, I am a healthy 36 year old male. In the last year I was put on Benicar 20 mg for high blood pressure. In that year I have began to notice PVC's that started occassionally and now are happening everyday all day. They drive me crazy. My blood pressure is under control and I exercise regularly. Could the Benicar cause the PVC's? I have had them checked out with my doctor and they tell me that they are okay and that they are PVC's. They drive insane.
Avatar m tn It is safe and does not come with any risks, so if you are on good anti-anginal medications such as beta-blockers (I know you are on Coreg) and nitrates and/or ranexa and you are still having angina then I would recommend EECP if we could not fix anything with another stent.
Avatar m tn I was on coreg when I was in the hospital and was discharged. I was on coreg for 2 months and then my Cardiologist took me off it. He tried Lisinopril while I was in the hospital however the combo of HCTZ and Coreg and the Ace inhib was causing me to feel dizzy and ill. Now it has been 8 months after my hospitalization and they are trying Lisinopril again. I am up to 5mg and my BP is 90/60 , I feel a little off balance.
Avatar m tn My resting pulse rate was between 50 and 60, now with benicar is above 70. My question - Is this really the medicine side effects ? which drug could be better to not affect my running performance? Am I really with high blood pressure, because I've read some people saying that for people who are very active, it's common to have low pulse rate and relatively high systolic pressure?
Avatar n tn I was just put on coreg since june6th and have been having severe headaches from it and tiredness. Is there any side effects between these three that can give me these headaches? I was fine until I was out on coreg.
Avatar n tn My dr put me on Benicar 20mg and Toprol XL 25mg to lower my blood pressure. I have a fast pulse too (always over 100). Will these meds lower my pulse also?
Avatar n tn My blood pressure was 120s/60s on sotalol and Benicar. Is this opposite effect (higher instead of lower blood pressure) common with this medication? Thank you.
Avatar n tn I take coreg with lisinopril to lower heart rate and lower blood pressure. Coreg can lower the HR, and as you know, I very slow heart rate can cause clots, and with MVR an individual is more vulnerable. My docotor wants my BP as low as possible without side effects such as passing out!. And I believe the lowest possible BP is generally the goal as you stated. But coreg also effects the heart rate, so that enters the equation for optimal dosage.
159619 tn?1707018272 Just curious, I was started on Benicar HCT 40/12.5 about 3 or 4 years ago at a time when I was at my peak weight, well over 300 pounds, not taking very good care of myself and not exercising. My blood pressure was running around 140/85 at the time. I underwent some cardiac work ups due to some chest pain over that time period including a couple of Nuclear Stress Tests and Echos along with all the blood work that is usually done, all tests were always normal.
Avatar m tn I was on coreg, ACE-I, spironolactone, asprin etc. With 12.5 mg x2 coreg and 5mgx2 ACE-I daily I was doing well with my walking and heart condition was more or less stable. Four months after MI I changed my cardiologist and he advised to increase coreg gradually to 25mgx2 daily. I have reached a level of 18.75mgx2 daily in next one month. Thereafter I lost my capacity to walk by half. While walking as soon as my pulse goes beyond 105 bpm I start feeling lightness in head, tired and low.
Avatar n tn Coreg helps regulate a normal heartbeat and lower blood pressure. A reduction to 3.125 twice a day is lowest therapeutic value, and the medication should not be discontinued without doctor's advice. If you had a minor heart attack, you may need medication. I don't know of any weight gain associated with coreg, the reduction of coreg may be for other reasons other than weight gain.
406412 tn?1217438384 .Correg is a beta blocker and by blocking the receptors it reduces the heart's rate and FORCE of contraction and thereby reduces the work of the heart. Coreg also blocks adrenergic receptors (QACE inhibitor) on arteries and causes the arteries to relax and the blood pressure to fall. The drop in blood pressure further reduces the work of the heart since it is easier to pump blood against a lower pressure.
