1469703 tn?1372041476 I'm wondering if anyone else here has had any issues with Copaxone concerning side effects other then the injection site reactions? I've been on Copaxone for 3 months now, I am agitated, frustrated, quick to anger. I've also been experiencing paranoia and mild visual hallucinations. I'm getting sick at least every 2 weeks, and have a general feeling of "un-well" or "ill".
Avatar f tn Hi everyone. I'm new to ms and will be starting copaxone soon. I like to reaserch as much info as I can on any drug I take before I start so there are no suprises. Believe it or not, I am more concerned about weight gain than any thing else. I have literally struggled with it all my life. I am 50 lbs over weight now an can afford to gain an ounce. I've read where cushins symdrome is a side effct, oddly enough, it was a concern earlier with my weight issues.
Avatar n tn I would LOVE to blame weight gain on Copaxone but I know my fluctuation comes from bad eating habits and lack of exercise. It appears that about 3% of people using it did have that possible side effect. This disease works on us in so many ways, it is possible you are one of those 3%. But also take a look at your lifestyle habits and see if perhaps something there might contribute to the problem. I've been on copaxone since Oct. 2008.
1025701 tn?1257172434 I'm on Rebif. I was on Copaxone. I couldn't take it. I get lumps from the injections even when I rub the injection site afterwards. They leave bruises, sometimes not as bad as others. But since you rotate sites more frequently with Copaxone I was injecting so close to old bruises that it became to painful and I'd skip injections. The lumps were also sooooo itchy that I had to scratch which just made them worse. With Rebif only being three times a week, I get a break.
195469 tn?1388322888 This old lady can not tolerate any weight gain, so of course, I am taking in less food to combat the weight gain. With being a diabetic, curently controlled with diet; I can't afford to gain weight and be back on insulin. I worked too hard to keep off that weight.
1246883 tn?1285547973 Hi, welcome to the forum, seroquel is known to be associated with weight gain. There is significant weight gain is seen, in such cases usually other anti psychotics are prescribed. The weight gaining effect of this drug will not persist after discontinuation. Any associated condition should be looked for. If there is a change in voice (Voice becomes dusky), weight gain, intolerance to cold etc. You need to get your T3, t4 and TSH level checked as it may be in initial phase.
Avatar n tn Hi Ali. I can tell you my experience with Copaxone. I was just diagnosed in Dec of 07. I haven't been on any other MS med. I was put on Copaxone. In those 3 months I struggled with depression, sleeplessness, gained 10 lbs and had terrible dark circles under my eyes. It completely changed my personality. I took myself off it and finally after 2 weeks am starting to feel like myself again and have dropped the weight and the circles under my eyes are gone.
Avatar f tn I was wondering if anyone has experienced weight gain while on Copaxone. I have been putting on weight al while I have been carefully watching my calories. I have been on Copaxone for 4 months and previously had been on Avonex for 15 years. Any input would be appreciated.
400099 tn?1282954864 I started using copaxone 20 mg a year ago and i had hot flashes sometimes, few days ago about an adverse effect after an injection of copaxone 40mg,I started with copaxone about 3 weeks and did not have any side effects but 4 days ago after my injection my entire body had a hot flash, subconsciously I started screaming and had problem breathing,it felt like the veins on the back of my neck were boiling,I kept scratching my neck and face because of hives!
1187071 tn?1279369698 It also makes me tired which I can handle that one but not the weight gain, I have had problems with my back in the past and when I put on weight my back hurts. I have nerve pain in my face and just pain in my face, what would be the other options I can talk to the dr about today? Would another pill from that line of pills be the same? I am going to talk to him about treatment of the other pain in my face if he don't want to then send me to a pain specialist that can treat all the pain.
Avatar n tn I just started taking Copaxone, last Friday. The injection site reactions are the biggest side effects with Copaxone. I've had no other side effects other than a little bit of anxiety after a shot was given and a feeling of something being different--which has gone away. The injection site reactions looked pretty impressionable, at first. The first five days they were about the size of a baseball of red area with about a half-dollar sized fluid-filled middle area.
Avatar f tn I didn't have any side effects except pregnancy, lol but some people may have them although not sure about the specific ones you asked about.
Avatar m tn I have been on Lexapro several times over the last 4 years for 6 months to 2 years at a time. I am having problems with the sexual side effects and the weight gain. It's actually less of a "weight gain" than a shift in body composition. My pants are too tight and my shirts are more fitted but I haven't actually gained a pound. I am a competitive runner and haven't changed my exercise or eating habits over the last 2 years.
1555914 tn?1296474056 Depending on how old you are it could just be a weight thing. Normally early 20s you gain weight and again in mid-40s where it becomes hard to lose the weight. (I'm too lazy to check your status to see if you have your age so those things may not apply).
Avatar f tn The weight gain no doubt is due to fluid retention which is one of the side effects. You might discuss changing drugs with your Oncologist as there are others available but keep in mind that they all have similar side effecfts even though you mjight not experience them to the same degree. Regards .....
Avatar f tn Weight gain is one potential side effect of Cymbalta but it would also depend on your other medications and if they have this side effect as well. It would be worthwhile to speak to your psychiatrist about this and they could see how to adjust and/or change your medications as needed and also how this specific side effect could be addressed.
Avatar n tn I used both, and found that side effects are similar; tiredness, weight gain, and a slow pulse. Side effects are more pronounced as the dosage is increased. I had dosages from 25mg to 200mg. daily. Other reported effects are loss of libido, tightness in the chest, itching, irregular breathing, and irregular heartbeat. If you have any further questions, I'd be happy to respond based on my experience with the drug.
Avatar f tn Anyone have a related experience to share or know if weight gain is a common side effect of Ramipril?
1983221 tn?1333506185 those are definitely not listed among the side effects of copaxone - perhaps you really had some type of virus in your system making you feel bad? hope you feel better....
1798419 tn?1315810427 told me that Effexor may attribute to weight gain, and it DOES state this in the side effects printed from the manufacturer, so your Dr. is incorrect. Do your homework and don't trust all the Doctors, find a good one, and also consider natural health options if you possibly can. Good luck!
Avatar n tn Had sexual side effects and gained some weight but I am not positive is from the Lexapro but I think may be. The Dr gave me Effexor which knocked me out for 3 days, slept 36 hours straight, then Celexa which I broke out in a rash all over my body from. He tried Wellbutrin but that did nothing. I didn't lose weight on it like some people do.
Avatar n tn MY SON HAS TAKEN PROZAC ALMOST A YEAR, HE HAS NOW STARTED HAVING INSOMNIA HAS HAD SEVERAL BOUTS CRYING OR FEELING VERY SAD. IS THIS NORMAL SIDE EFFECTS OR IS IT TIME TO SWITCH TO SOMETHING ELSE?
