She tells me that the lowest dose of XL is 75mg. She has put me on 37.5mg daily Venlafaxine. I tried this as 150mg dose, and it was not the same at all as Effexor. Is there any alternative. I think the idea of doing kegels during sex is to make things tight so you both feel the internal movement with more squeze (for lack of better terms). Sudden withdrawal from venlafaxine can lead to the withdrawal symptoms you describe. It should not be discontinued suddenly, instead he should go down to 37.5mg for a time before coming off it. Or, his doctor might consider changing him to a different anti-depressant without as many withdrawal symptoms,(Prozac, citalopram ?) then coming off that. Venlafaxine (Exeffor) is usually prescribed for major depression, in emergencies, or when other anti-depressants have been ineffective.

This makes a big difference because Venlafaxine (Generic) has a very fast onset of release which may excite anxiety in some people prone to anxiety. Effexor XR has a much slower release and avoids this spike with it's extended release properties. Venlafaxine also has a pretty short half life also, which is why Effexor was designed with this slow release effect. This effect eliminates the spikes and fast drops from the drug in Effexor XR which is Venlafaxine.

You may want to switch that generic Venlafaxine to Effexor XR and perhap talk to you doc about adding Lithium. Good thing about Lithium is even if you don't have Bi-polar, it will still help a lot as an add on medication for your Effexor XR. Generic Venlafaxine has no sustained release properties to it. This can pose a problem because it has such a short half life as atidepressants go. making the switch to Effexor XR and adding Lithium should make a world of difference.

I broke two or three of each under a spoon (which I promptly threw away and will never again use for food) and found that the balls passed in the stool seemed to be a hollow sort of casing (definitely made me even more afraid of some kind of parasite), but the Venlafaxine 'beads' seemed solid and were crushed as you'd expect a tablet pill to be. taper very slowly over a very long period of time and take other meds to stablize me, option 2. go back to the psych ward and under supervision come off venlafaxine which then is going to be replaced by another anti dep. i chose option 2 as i will be able to get meds faster if i tip out completly, i'll let ya know how it goes like in another couple months.
