Common Questions and Answers about Contractions using would

contractions

Avatar f tn Hi! USUALLY contractions cause dilation. That is most commonly the way it works, although some people can dilate without contractions, and others won't dilate even with the strongest contractions. The nifedical should slow down the contractions, or at least make them milder. It may give you headaches or make you retain water. Depending on how far along you are though, it could be pretty important to keep them stopped, so follow your doctor's good advice. Congratulations in advance.
Avatar f tn I'm 37 weeks and was wondering what If I was taking a shower or using the bathroom how would I know my water broke? Or know I was in labor?
Avatar n tn I don't have to use the bathroom it slowed down after an hour but now I contract hard when I have to fart this is something new started today
Avatar f tn My due date was Sept 8, 2014 but my daughter was quite comfy so I got scheduled for induction on Sept 9. At 7:30am I was brought to the l&d room where they set up the monitors and everything. At 9:30 they started pitocin which didn't do much to help dilate me more I was already at 4cm. The contractions were more painful then i ended up being able to handle so i got the epidural. At noon the doc came in and broke my water which made me automatically go to 5cm.
Avatar f tn Very nervous! So my daughter will be my first child and I am nervous that when the time comes I won't know what to do. For instance, how would I know I have lost my mucus plug, being that I have experienced discharge ALL my life. Heavy and Light. Also, when will I know I have contractions being that I have experienced period cramps from horrible to very easy.
Avatar f tn I'm going to see my midwife tomorrow. Been having contractions since Monday but I had only dilated 1cm. I'm still having contractions now and they hurt so bad :( I've had like hardly any sleep since Monday haven't been able to sleep in a bed so the lounge n sofa has officially been my bedroom. I'm only having like 1 contraction every half hour but my god the pain, n exhaustion they bring is horrible :( I can't do this much longer.
1533382 tn?1357962152 I'm now 35+3 with baby girl number 2 and went for my final ultrasound today to check size and everything mainly because I have gestational diabetes right now too. Everything basically went ok I'm sure if the tech was worried she would have mentioned it. But ever since leaving the ultrasound I've got this come and go achy feeling all around my lower abdomen and into my lower back. Baby is moving a whole ton and it makes it hurt a bit more sometimes.
Avatar f tn I dont think Ive had any but I dont know how to tell cause I dont know what they would feel like ot where on my tummy they would hurt if they did.I cramp sometimes but usually on one side when Im in a position to Long or switch sleeping positions to fast. I know your tummy is supposed to be hard but I dont really get that, like my stomach is never hard like a muscle is tight. Idk Im confused on this subject, Im just wondering what are braxton hicks like for you?
Avatar f tn and for the past couple hours ive felt a pain in my lower stomach. Ive switched positions hoping it would stop (it didnt) . I tried taking a nap and the pain is still there. I took a walk and the pain hasnt gone away. I am also feeling it in my lower back. Can anyone give me any input about whats going on with me? Are they just strong bh?
Avatar f tn So its normal to have contractions every timei have a bm? That doesn't seem to make sense /: anyone else?
6520484 tn?1399082398 So I've been timing my contractions for the last while and they are about 60 seconds long 5 - 7 minutes apart. I expected them to be more painful though? And now my little guy has the hiccups. Did anyone else have these kind of contractions? They are tightening with back and abdominal pain. Even when I adjust positions they are continuing.
7601195 tn?1406663344 Rib hip and back pain? Clear and whiteish yellowish fluids? Contractions? What's could this mean?
280369 tn?1316702041 I was having some pretty consistent contractions on tuesday night and she wanted to check me to be sure nothing is happening yet. I am 27w 1d. The heartbeat was great at 140bpm and baby is still head down. She said I'm not quite opened yet...but that my cervix is VERY soft. She said she doesn't like to see that happening until 32-37 weeks. So basically I'm on modified bedrest from here on out and no more sex.
Avatar f tn For the other girls, that have had success with it... I took 2 table spoons around 6 pm last night, nothing by 7 pm so I took 1 more, then by 8 a was in the bathroom.. I went to sleep around midnight. And nothing yet. Will it take longer (or 24 hours) to work? Or did it just not work for me?
Avatar f tn I've been having uterrine contractions & cramps for awhile now along with alot of pressure down there & I feel very nauseous like I need to throw up but can't. I have a feeling it's gonna be a long nighttt!
Avatar n tn How nastier contractions hurt? I'm scared half to death, Lol. Is a epidural necessary?
Avatar f tn I am set to be induced Wednesday and I am curious if they could simply break my water rather than using pitocin or some other form of medicine! Ladies please give me something to go on!

Avatar f tn Every woman has different levels of pain tolerance and not everyone has really strong contractions or is in labor for 12+ hours.
690039 tn?1277472422 And now, all this week, I have had strange contractions. They feel weak and I would blow them off as BH contractions, but there have been several spans of time where they are coming regularly---i.e. 7 to 10 minutes apart, and it lasts for an hour or so but then stops. It was random at first, but it's getting more "organized", if that makes sense. Last night, two different times, i had 8 or more contractions in an hour, and twice so far today, it's the same thing.

Avatar f tn m already having contractions its just not getting stronger..... I need to get a nursing bra; wash my dog; clean my room;pack my hospital bag;....
Avatar f tn I went to my 34 week appt today and told her that I have had some very uncomfortable contractions and bad back pain, so she said she would check me. SHe checked me and said that I was 3cm dilated but cervix was still sitting back. She told me that if I went into labor before 36 weeks, she would stop it but if I can make it to 36 weeks, then she'll let me go. She said that I needed a paper on file 30 days before delivery and said in my situation that I should of signed that like yesterday.
Avatar f tn Lol she was like if I was u I would just go home and walk. She said if u get any contractions at all then I can go to the hospital and she will tell them to keep me. So I came home and walked on my treadmill and I'm hoping it does something. I was 1 1/2 2 weeks ago and now I'm at a 3. I'm so excited. But the only bad thing is if I don't go into labor this week I will be in the hospital on thanksgiving.
Avatar f tn I have heard some bad things about the medicine they put into your vagina to ripen and dilate the cervix. Would just using pitocen to start contractions and then dilate naturally work well instead?
