I agree with the poster above! There is nothing like labor contractions!!! I can honestly deal with braxton hicks contractions because they aren't painful, just aggravating . . . My pain level & yours are different of course but I can handle Braxton Hicks anyday .

i have been having light contractions but they come and go...i read somewhere that pineapple induces labor?

Are you sure that your contractions weren't just braxton hicks? Because you don't dilate with them. Normal contractions would cause your body to dilate, have your contractions stopped now? If they have then I'm sure they would have been braxton hicks and that's why they wouldn't stop them because there wouldn't be any need because they don't cause dilation.

I was at 1cm for about 3 weeks before I went into labor. Like the last poster said BH contractions can be super strong and the closer you get to the big day the stronger they are going to be. What you should try doing is changing positions if you can change positions and they go away then they aren't real contractions. When they get to be every 5 minutes lasting for 1 minute for an hour that is when you should go to the hospital.

The previous poster is right the contractions are pretty bad bit it all becomes worth it once u hold ur baby!

Is there anything that will settle BH contractions? I get them walking, resting, cleaning, watching a movie, driving etc. They are uncomfortable and I've been told to rest then I get them... but I still get them. Will anything help?

Hi. I had unprotected sex 10 days ago that night and this whole week I have felt extremely nauseous and have had all the early pregnancy symptoms. I'm not due for my period til next week for three days I've had very light brown discharge and only blood when I wiped I read that during implantation bleeding ( if that's what this is) you have contractions and I've never felt this WAy before ever.. I've had very bad cramping on and off as if they were small contractions.

I was having light contractions with no dilation before it was put in. I had been dilated to a 2 for weeks and having regular contractions with no progress. When they took it out I had dilated to a 4 and almost 100% effaced. It caused me to have contractions 2 minutes apart so I didn't have to get pitocin labored on my own for the rest of the day and my water broke on its own. I had a good experience with it would definitely choose to be induced with it again if I had to.

like your water breaking, loosing your mucus plug, contractions. What is the order and what exactly happens during each? When do you know to go to the hospital? And does everyone loose their mucus plug? Which what is that exactly? I just want to be prepared when the time comes. Is this the kind of stuff I'll learn in my birthing class?

As long as your over 37weeks. This is fine. It sounds like the early stages of labor, what the "gooey brown stuff" was your mucus plug! For some, this doesn't mean much, sometimes people loose their plug and don't deliver for a month! But since your having contractions, I'd say early labor, as the other poster suggested, sit down, relax for a bit, try drinking water, if the pains don't go away after changing your activity, then its not BH. Its real labor.

Nope. Some people can be dilated for weeks before delivery. Some people don't start until labor has begun. Like the previous poster said, you could go to bed feeling perfectly normal and wake up in full on labor a few hours later.

Yes same as previous poster said my stomach just gets hard. Sometimes its a little uncomfortable but def nothjng compared to contractions. Sometimes the only reason i know im getting them is because i touch my belly and its so tight.

The app said the pre contractions that your body does to get prepaired for labor shouldnt hurt but mine do hurt mime make me flinch and i feel great deals of discomfurt alot im 32weeks ,any thoughts?

I am due tomorrow and have been getting small irregular contractions yesterday and today. However i don't ever remember losing my plug with my first child. What color is it and what will it look/feel like? I have had some white discharge but I'm not sure if that would be it.

Hey girls im 39 weeks preg and wondering where you feel the contractions most and how long each one approx lasts...im feeling bad pains in my stomach but its more on the top of my belly...i feel like contractions would be lower. It feels really tight and hurts when i breath in.

Is it possible your daughter has premature atrial contractions and not atrial fibrillation? I am not a doctor but I have not heard of afib described that way and atrial contractions are not a danger where afib could be due to possible blood clots. Does your daughter have an unusually high heart rate keeping in mind children's heart rates tend to be more elevated than adults. An average heart rate for a baby in their first year can be anywhere between 100-160 from what I have read.

2nd my water broke and with contractions water kept coming. I agree with last poster, coordinate with others for ride to hospital, ems maybe option, if hubby is working and have him meet you there. Each labor and delivery is different. My 1st took about 10hrs after I got to 5cm and my 2nd took about 5hrs after my water broke. Make several birth plans. Good luck to you n yours.

You can go 2 weeks overdue without getting induced. Being induced makes your labor much more difficult because the contractions are intense from the start. I would recommend waiting until you need to be induced rather than asking for it earlier.

I've been having this for days! Are they getting more painful or closer together? mine's just bub lowering I can feel the pressure in my back also so I'm not worried but if yours are getting more painful or closer together maybe call you hospital as it might be?
