9590250 tn?1452831684 Hmm I think the better way to phrase it is to say if they should hurt or not. I do not think it is possible to not feel contractions (unless they are very light and you are sleep), but since your body is physically making a move to adjust, expel, or accommodate a natural internal process, then you should be able to feel them especially if you're pregnant. Rhetorically, how do you know if they are contractions if you cannot feel them?
Avatar f tn My contractions on the monitor go up to about 80 they aren't really painful. Honestly just feel like braxton Hicks. Will they go higher once labor really starts?
Avatar f tn Turned out i had the beginnings of a bladder infection that was so early that could not be picked up by the quick test they did. Contractions picked up by monitor and i was not dilated. They stopped by themself and i was sent home. Phoned the next day with results that showed infection. Hope you are in the beginning of labour though..
Avatar f tn I wouldn't be worried about going early, tts actually normal to be getting BH contractions at this point. I went into the hospital at about 33 weeks and they were showing up on the monitor but I couldn't even feel them happening. Also its a good sign that things are progressing normally for your cervix to get soft. As for dilating some people start to dilate a month or more before delivery and end up going late.
Avatar n tn I never had those. .but for me contractions felt like I had to go #2. I was actually in labor and didn't know it..I thought I was constipated..it just so happened that I was being induced that day and when the nurse hooked me up to the monitor she asked me if I felt it.. I said yeah I'm constipated she said no honey that was a contraction.. lol. It was nice to give the nurses a good laugh..
Avatar f tn The general rule is 4-1-1. Contractions 4 minutes apart lasting 1 minute for 1 hour is when it's time to go to labor. A lot of people don't lose their mucus plug and most people actually have their water broken by their doctor. Contractions aren't painful for everyone. My water broke on its own and I didn't even feel tightenings, but contractions were coming up on the monitor.
Avatar f tn I went in for a stress test a few days ago and while i was hooked up to a monitor i was having contractions every 15 min or so and I hardly felt them. The only reason i knew they were happining is because i was focused on them and watching the monitor.
709912 tn?1229203300 If you have more than 4 cramps an hour, you should call your OB ASAP. That is what the OB nurse told me on Friday when I was having contractions showing on the monitor, although I didn't feel them.

1035252 tn?1427227833 So I know this is my second baby and I'm an idiot for asking...but I've forgotten alot apparently. I'm 37wks and a few days and have been in the hospital for heart-related complications...currently I'm on the toco monitor, and I'm having contractions (quite painful) every 3 minutes that last about 45 seconds...and the baby's heart-rate is skyrocketing with every one, but they're BARELY showing up on the chart.
Avatar f tn Im in labor and delivery now they have me on the monitor, my contractions are showing 2-3 min apart but are intense
Avatar f tn t want to be sent home. They hooked me up to monitors and I was having contractions but they were not showing up on monitor. So she checked me and said "you are 4cm dilated, you are in labor" then I had another contraction that actually showed up. They admitted me and hooked me up to IVs (which they had to do 3 times because the IV wasn't going fast enough). Then I got epidural.
Avatar f tn I was in really bad pain during my contractions but they were not showing up on the monitor. I had my son a few hours later. Come to find out the next day device was broke!
9041091 tn?1410417329 So I knew they were contractions I told the nurse she checked me cuz I was showing that I wasnt having contractions on the monitor and I was 4.5 cm dialated. She called the doc an hour later I was 8 cm dilated! They quickly prepared the room and I only pushed for 8 minutes and she was out :) No Tears! After my delivery my temperature never went up again so they think I had an infection in my placenta. But Ayley was 6lbs 8 oz 18 inches long and is super healthy and beautiful! !

Avatar f tn I agree. They will monitor you to see if you are indeed contracting and close enough. Then if not they will send you home...Which is okay. I know you are ready and it is painful but this way you will know for sure that the pains you are feeling are contractions and that you are making progress even if it may still be some weeks yet. You don't know unless you go in.
Avatar f tn I have 15 days left, been having contractions for the last four days. I wish my body would make up its mind! Theyre strong enough to show on the monitor, but im not dilating or thinning at all. I just want to be done already! Both my boys were such easy pregnancies but this little girl is showing her diva side!
Avatar f tn I went for a normal check up with my gyn turn out my blood pressure was to high so he sent me to the hospital during that time I was being monitor the monitor started pick up contractions but the doctor said I was fully closed inside they sent me home and now seem like the contractions got stronger a little I'm only 34weeks I really don't want him to come When should I go back to L&D like does it matter how far apart and how long they last ?
Avatar f tn Hm. Google where the top of your uterus is at your number of weeks. If you're not showing you're probably under 20wks (just guessing) so your uterus won't be up very high at that point. If you're feeling the tightening much above your belly button for example it's probably something besides contractions. Just my thoughts.
Avatar f tn Thats weird I thought they were supposed tp keep you ... did they have you on the monitor for a hour ? And did you dilate more when you got there r was 2-3 cm when you arrived and left ?
Avatar f tn There is a non stress test AND a stress test.... There are different reasons for both. During a non stress test they hook you up to a monitor and just keep an eye on baby's movements and heart rate... During a stress test they hook you up to a monitor but they induce contractions to see how baby reacts.
Avatar f tn ve been admitted to the hospital twice already for blood pressure, this last time a 24hr stay for monitoring, but other than being cleared of preeclampsia and being told that the monitor is registering some mild contractions, I have no idea if I'm even dilated at all. My next appointment is on Wednesday. Should I ask for the doctor to check then or should they check automatically whether or not I feel any contractions?
10021507 tn?1407285147 I'm having sharp pains. Now I'm not sure if they are contractions cause I heard they are supposed to hurt. I'm 40+5days.
Avatar f tn I had my baby girl this morning at 10:25 am. 7 lbs 2 oz. 19.5 inches. This labor was very bizarre. I noticed irregular contractions about 9pm. Started timing them when I laid down at 10:30 PM as I assumed it was another round of false labor. 2 hours later they were still 10 minutes and getting stronger. I got up and they got more like 5-7 minutes apart. Kids were sent to grandma's and my husband and I headed in since my midwife advised me to go in early. ..
4894298 tn?1360839450 My contractions are in my back and abdomen the keep getting longer and stronger but are not comming in a regular pattern as for not being in the hospital I have already made 2 trips thinking it is time get there only to have the Dr send me home an hour later telling me it is false labor cause the contractions are not showing up on the monitor when they hook me up to it to monitor me it has me really aggravated this last time I went to the hospital they sent me home and told me to take benadryl t
