contractions not effacing

i saw my doctor last week and he said i am having contractions but they are not strong enough to do anything to the cervix to help efface or dilate it=/. it seems like now my contractions are getting alittle stronger but not by much now that im 38w1d. could with in a week could i be effaced at all? what types of feelings would you get if the baby is starting to drop or if your effacing or if your body is doing any changes? im planning for a vba2c for my birth of my lil girl.

At 1in the morning i was getting contractions 7 mins apart for 2 hours & they we're getting stronger ... I fell asleep and now I'm getting contractions a bit further apart. How much longer ughhh !!! Ughhh I'm 39 weeks and 3 days . At 39 w I was 2 cm and effacing and ever since I been having wet panty liners of watery discharge especially today it's been a lot ..

Could be the real thing. Time contractions if they begin.

I'm 2cm 38w. And not efaced yet. Is is possible to be dialating and not efacing at all? How can I speed up the process?

I agree having sex does start labor I had and the same day I had my son hopefully same happens with my daughter on the way

Baby_love2014 i hope i get some progression like that next week!! They had me walk with my first baby too. I wouldn't dialate. And bigapplefamily, I heard effacing is really important when it comes to labor. (As far as quickness) so we'll see how it goes. Im hoping for a speedy delivery like yours.

So I had an emergency c-section my first pregnancy, I never went into labor so I don't know what contractions feel like. I'm told if I was having them I would know and I'm just not sure lol but I have been having incredible pain in my groin area and slight pressure when baby moves. I'm 37 weeks tomorrow and wondering if I could be in inactive labor? Could I be dilating or effacing without contractions?

Hello, im 39 weeks pregnant and for the past 2 days I have been having contractions that come & go by they are not very painful but today they have been going on and off every ten minutes with alot of pain in my back and bad cramps but they seem to subside. I went to the hospital on Wednesday and they said I was almost 4 cm dilated and 50% effaced. Should I head to the hospital if I keep having pain even if it comes and goes??

Wow here in L&D with contractions every 10 minutes they gave me shot to try and stop them but haven't even checked my cervix.

im 37 weeks and 5 days i have not started dilation or effacing. i havent had and braxton hicks or contractions this is my first baby...what can i do to speed things up just a bit?

I also have been having crampiness for a long time, nothing makes it go away, not even abstaining from sex. I know its not contractions, am I still just stretching?

Hi. I am 38 weeks and 5 days today with no pain and no contractions. Not sure how much more time it will take? I am getting really frustrated and inpatient now. Any idea how many hours or days I have to wait more. It's my first baby.

Ok so I'm 38 weeks tomorrow and for the last 4 days I've bad lots of cramps and aches in my lower back and lower pelvis. I've had off and on contractions but it doesn't seem to be going anywhere. I started losing my plug yesterday. I've tried squats, child pose, walking. Really want to know how long this is supposed to go on for until it actually progresses.

Okay I think I might be in early labor but I'm going to get induced this week

Yeah I lost my plug at 35wks was 3cm dilated, 80% effaced with contractions 4-5min apart until induced at 41wks. Dilation and effacing mean nothing. Same for contractions. They told me at my 33wk check it "could be any day". They just want you to pay attention.

I'm 38weeks tomorrow and do not have another appt until next Friday. I thought it was supposed to be every week after you reach 36w? I have not been checked, no idea if my cervix is thining or I'm effacing.. I have been told nothing and its so annoying! I've been in the same boat hun. Just got checked today and my cervix is opening-so explains the stingy sensation, but I'm not dilated, and already effacing. I'm 36 weeks 5 days. my contractions hurt like a mother effer and my tummy gets rock hard. But they aren't consistent, so i just have to deal with it =( it's my second baby also, my first was 9.

BH can be very painful sometimes, in my last pregnancy they were usually more painful than my early labor contractions. BH, however, do not contract the entire uterus. Labor contractions start at the bottom of your uterus and spread up tensing the entire uterus. My experience with BH they usually started on the side moving forward, but always left a soft spot at the top. BH are irregular, but may continue for a long time. If they last more than an hour contact your doctor.

Antibiotics from your doc as well as lots of water and cranberry juice. Not cranberry cocktail it has to be 100% cranberry juice. If you don't get rid of it a uti can turn into a kidney infection which can send you into preterm labor.

Im now having bad cramps and trying to time them lol so yes they could be real contractions but not active labour

Your doctor has to check you, I'm pretty sure. I've heard some women talk of an odd "zinging" station down there and when they went in, it turn out they had been dilating/effacing, but I experienced that sensation for about a week before I began.

Having an induction (if you are not already dilating/effacing) will increase your chances for having to have assistance with delivery, whether it is episiotomy or a c-section, not getting an epidural. I had an epidural and only pushed for 3 contractions. Good Luck!

Prostaglandins in semen cause uterine contractions. If you're close to your dd the contractions will aid in dilation.
