268356 tn?1236002604 s, but the contraction starts in the top of my uterus, very painfully I might add (thought the lil bugger had kicked me in a tender spot at first) and then radiate down from top to bottom. I had back labor with my first, so this is a bit foreign. Would you say more than likely more BH, or should I start timing them to see if they become more consistent. I just downed a liter of water and am resting to see if it gets any better, but just had a question about where I am feeling them.
Avatar f tn I was in labor n delivery last night and was told I have a irritable uterus. I was given a shot to stop contractions. How serious is this?
Avatar f tn your uterus is a muscle and like any other muscle works best when its kept tonned, thats why people drink red raspberry teaf tea or take the tablets, it tones and strengthens your uterus, the benefits of this is that during labour it will work better during contractions, making the contractions more efficient, whoich can shorten your labour by around an hour or so :)
Avatar n tn Is the cramping at the top of your stomach or the bottom? Contractions start at the top of your uterus and move down. Your stomach will also feel hard during contractions.
Avatar f tn It's just the muscle in your uterus contracting, doctors assume it is just your uterus practicing for the bug day. They are not painful, you just feel your uterus get hard for 20 seconds to 1 minute. If you have more then 6 an hour you should let your doctor know.

Avatar f tn I have been in the ER twice in the past week, and have been diagnosed with an irritable uterus which causes contractions. I'm terrified because I'm only 23 weeks along with our first baby. My OB has been out of town so I'm not sure what to do other than keep my feet up as much as I can and try to rest. I'm still working Monday through Friday and I'm on my feet a lot.
Avatar n tn Hi! I'm 17 wks 3 days and last night my uterus got very tight and hard feeling, i thought it would go away but it was still like that in the morning, i've had a subchorionic hematoma (diagnosed at 9 wks) that was getting smaller last time I had an U/S (at 14 wks) and i've stopped spotting, but now i'm worried if the tightness in my uterus is from bleeding behind the placenta. Has anyone else felt this hardness in their uterus that stayed there for that long?
Avatar f tn d when I was 36 + 2 weeks and they told me the contractions I was having were from an irritated uterus because I was dehyrdated but they just told me to drink lots of water. They didn't schedule an induction :/ I will be 38 weeks tomorrow still having these really bad BH contractions but I have not dilated at all...
Avatar f tn I'm having tightening but only in certain spots on my belly not all over. But then again I'm not showing yet so not sure the difference. I haven't been feeling normal all day and idk if it's just baby pushing out or what but I can't feel any baby movements with the tightening or really pain just uncomfortable.
Avatar f tn like it starts on top of my uterus feeling like squeezing and it moved to the bottom and at the end i felt a sharp pain in my cervix...the only way I can explain it was it felt like my uterus was a tooth paste tube and it was getting squeezed to push the tooth paste out! Anyone else know what this is exactly?
4738473 tn?1360035798 Thru him I found out my uterus ruptured with my last pg. I was told it tore open due to the intensity of the contractions when i was in labor with my twins, but it looks like that dr tried to gloss over things since it was thier fault. Now they are telling me based on that I am at a very high risk for a rupture again this time.

Avatar f tn Contractions CAN start at the top of the uterus right under your breasts. I've had them start there and at the bottom of my uterus. As well as the ones that wrap around your back and lower uterus.
Avatar f tn It will feel like the baby is balling up in your uterus. That's what Braxton Hicks Contractions feel like and, while they might be uncomfortable, they are not painful like labor contractions.
Avatar f tn Also had a positive fibronectin test yesterday and sent today for ultrasound and that confirmed I was not in pre term labor. They told me anything can bring on the irritation/contractions etc. What are the chances I'll have baby pre term?
Avatar f tn Your uterus is practicing contractions and toning your uterus throughout your pregnancy. With my first I couldn't tell the difference between braxton hicks and early contractions because they weren't that uncomfortable or painful so I barely noticed them. But as things progressed they became more painful and had a definite pattern. When my husband called the hodpital they asked him if they were getting closer together or more intense? And how I was coping with them?
3763041 tn?1354906251 Woke up thus morning and for about an hour had some fairly intense contractions. I have medication to relax my uterus and took out immediately after my first one, and it took about an hour for things to settle down, now its about 330 pm and again i'm feeling fairly strong contractions. I took my medicine like prescribed all day, and it was prescribed for cramps but should work the same on settling my uterus from these contractions but it just isn't.
Avatar f tn Can some please explain to me what Braxton Hicks contractions feel like and where I will feel them. I'm 33 weeks, first time mom, and very confused.
Avatar f tn I am a ftm and I am almost 22 weeks. Sometimes I feel like my uterus gets all balled up or the baby is getting all balled up on one side. I usually notice this after I wake up from sleeping. Any thoughts??
Avatar n tn It has nothing to do with uterine contractions. If uterine contractions do anything at all, they probably make fluids go both in and out.
