Avatar f tn My fiance is Mexican and his first language is Spanish, so he will be talking to our daughter mostly in Spanish. English is My first language but I can also speak Spanish. My fiance also knows how to speak a little of an Aztec language.
Avatar n tn s actually best to have one parent who speaks to the child in only one language and the other parent (or involved adult) who speaks in only the other language. Learning simultaneously helps the child to remember them both fluently.
Avatar f tn I would say just keep speaking to baby in English and pointing things out and repeating the names in English. Try to limit how much everyone else speaks to him if they can't speak English. And let them know you want your baby to learn English first. Learning both at same time can cause a lot of confusion and delay in speech. My in laws don't speak English and respect our wishes and have their kids translate for them with my youngest until she is fully able to speak English.
Avatar f tn Given that your English is not your son’s native language (and not the primary language spoken at home), I think it would be a little premature to assume that there is an underlying neurological or psychological problem. If you are living the United States, since he is over three years-old you may request an initial Core Evaluation to determine if there are any indications of special needs through your local school district.

3149845 tn?1506627771 It is racist to think that English should be the language in America. Just because most speak English does not mean we should force people to adapt to our system. We should adapt to the .01%, because damn it they deserve us to bend over backwards for them. They are had working illegal aliens, whoops just let me racism show.
10553058 tn?1420738321 Your English is pretty good if it's not your primary language. I don't have an answer to the birth portion.. This is my first. But you can take Tylenol, for headaches, body aches, and fever.
Avatar f tn Well, actually there is no tale at all, just simple explanation - stimulating nipples (like baby is feeding), it bring out hormone called oxcitocine (hope I spelled it right), and it couses uterus to squeeze (no, there was another word, sinonime, I forgot it - sorry, English isnt my native language). As Your baby hasnt born yet, it can couse contractions, something like after having orgasm.

1310633 tn?1430224091 This may have slipped through the cracks but from what I have read, NYPD is leading the Nation (if not the World) in PDs trying to deal with the language barrier. As far as the Garcia’s complaints, where were you when they were alive? It’s horrific that this happened but it’s your responsibility to learn English not ours to provide translators for you. If you don’t like the services we provide, go home, and come back when you can speak the language.
Avatar f tn It sounds like the learning of a new language is crossing over to what you know. The English language has many words or phrases that can not be translated. So in learning a new a language these words have to be described out. Such as "bury" in English being "put him down" in Spanish. So when you go back to English one can tend to explain things out instead of just using the simple English term they knew. I have several friends who do this with Italian.
Avatar f tn I'm in my 30 weeks, and I need help from you :-) English isn't my first language, it's spanish, and this is my first pregnancy. So, on top of all of these being new to me, I need to learn BABY TALK. In many parents magazines I see things like: "my LO" wich eventually I understood "my Little One" Any others abbreviations you can help me understand???
Avatar m tn It is especially being compounded by having to learn a second language (English) with translations from your first language that do not always match up or translate correctly. English is a hard language to learn because of the different dialects and slang we have in our language. For many English speaking people, our language is difficult, so don't feel alone. You may not be able to tell it, by my writing, but I suffer from dyslexia, yet I've overcome mine.

1689801 tn?1333983316 You know I am no medical expert but here is what I am thinking - To me a cramp and a spasm are different - I think of a cramp as a sustained contraction of the muscle and the spasm as a on and off contraction that repeats over and over. A cramp sets in the muscle and holds the muscle in a position that causes pain. The cramp is often relieved by a change of position, or gentle massaging or other physcial actions. Cramps can be caused by nutritional deficiencies.
Avatar m tn In many cases its because the skin of the eye lid was irritated by rubbing or dabbing with tissue.

Avatar f tn I took two years of deutsch in highschool. I absolutely loved the language. I wish I would have contuinued learning it. :( when did you first start learning english. 1874452 tn?1349634777 t think that you or your teacher have an idea about how hard it is to learn English. English is one of the most difficult languages in the world to learn. It is even more difficult if it is not spoken at home. Is it? The best way to help him is to expose him to English at home and on TV. There are two reasons I can think of why he can't concentrate on what the teacher is saying. One is something like ADD, the other is because he doesn't understand what she is saying.
Avatar n tn Another good example is, if you walk in to a walk in closet, and shut the door, you will notice the tinnitus comes back. That is because the clothes act like a sound damper, and the closet it very quite within it. 5 bucks says you have a hearing loss. Go get tested and see what you find. AuD.
