contractions

Avatar f tn Mine We're like menstrual cramps too. I felt them really strong in my back during labor. How exciting!
Avatar n tn Menstrual cramps are normal to have and I get severe menstrual cramps on the first day of my period as well. Typically it is just from hormones that causes the cramping, as the surge will cause contractions, making her period painful. Prevention is much better than management for pain. Exercise and eating healthy can help prevent menstrual cramps to a certain point, but won't always get rid of them.
Avatar f tn Some people say it hurts like bad menstrual cramps but I never had menstrual cramps. Is there something else to compare it to so I'm prepared?
Avatar n tn I'm planning on having a baby and I'm already considering my options for giving birth. I'm scared of pain but don't want an epidural. I noticed that in general Ibuprofen works very well for me. Is it safe to take Ibuprofen (400mg) orally during contractions and delivery (I've never heard of such a thing, but perhaps it would be possible, to at least dull the pain)?
Avatar n tn Contractions during labor feel like menstrual type cramps.
Avatar f tn I woke up with menstrual cramps, then intestinal cramps, then last my plug and contractions started. I was preterm tho so they stopped it. My mum said that's how all 4 of hers started too. Her water never broke, dr broke it each time during labour. I read only 25% of women have their labour start with their waters breaking.
Avatar f tn Some women describe contractions as strong menstrual cramps. Unlike false labor contractions or Braxton Hicks contractions, true labor contractions do not stop when you change your position or relax. Although the contractions may be uncomfortable, you will be able to relax in between contractions. What's the Difference Between True Labor and False Labor? Before "true" labor begins, you may have "false" labor pains, also known as Braxton Hicks contractions.
Avatar n tn I hear sex causes contractions which cause u to dilate :) my baby is at her lowest point that doctor could feel her head when she checked me. So she said sex sex sex is key to dilation.

Avatar f tn Hello march moms, question about contractions. Ive felt a few different things and im just not sure yet about how to tell what contractions are. Ive had my stomach tighten, then untighten without any pain. I had really really bad pain, felt like bad menstrual cramps and gas that would intensify for a bit then go down and i was on a monitor and the nurse said i was having contractions....but there wasnt a definite low, like the pain was always there just kicked up at times so it was hard to time.

9390824 tn?1403498885 Ladies what do contractions feel like? Like where do you feel them? This is my second baby but with my first I had no contractions due to me having a c section.
Avatar f tn During contractions, the abdomen becomes hard. Between contractions, the uterus relaxes and the abdomen becomes soft. The way a contraction feels is different for each woman, and may feel different from one pregnancy to the next. But labor contractions usually cause discomfort or a dull ache in your back and lower abdomen, along with pressure in the pelvis. Contractions move in a wave-like motion from the top of the uterus to the bottom.
Avatar f tn ) so last night i started having these pains and im not sure what they were maybe braxton hicks contractions or just pains. It felt like a bad case of sciatic pain/round ligament pain/ menstrual cramps all at once. It hurt for about ten minutes then left never came back not sure what it was.. anyone?
7019649 tn?1396792517 If you have never had contractions, it can be quite confusing. It feels like tightening and menstrual cramps at the same time. They get worse and worse, and they come and go in waves. I feel it from my belly all the way down, and kind of in my back, too. Doesn't really hurt on the sides, though.
Avatar f tn Yes I was about to say during contractions you won't feel baby after you probably will during labor also with my first idk if she was moving or not I just know that I was in pain and the epidural did not work so that was my main focus was when the next contractions were goin to hit lol but she was on the monitor so if something was wrong they always came in and told me like when her heart rate was dropping because of the position I was in
Avatar f tn What does contractions feel like im a ftm and everybody is comparing contractions to different things.
Avatar f tn t even know what contractions are supposed to feel like other than the tightening I feel from Braxton Hicks. Or if I get painful contractions and think I'm in labor then I get sent home because I'm not...
Avatar f tn When your having menstrual like cramps those are Braxton hicks contractions or practice contractions. Try having your partner rub your belly where it's hurting. The feeling of them caring for you calms you down and before you know your tummy doesn't hurt. As for your back Try a heating pad or an ice pack or both see which one rids the pain better. The pressure could be baby's head dropping which there's nothing to do you want baby's head to drop.
Avatar f tn I'm ftm 38 weeks I'm having menstrual like cramps on and off nothing too serious . Still haven't lost mucus plug no signs of bleeding ect. Baby moving all the time . I get weekly nst due to age so DR. Said she will see if we can be induced at 39 weeks. I'm not sure if I should or if I should just wait until he's ready to come . No complications during pregnancy so far. Any opinions?
Avatar n tn Friday my doctor told me that I am 2 cm dilated and "pretty soft" and then went on to explain that if my water broke or if I had 4 or more contractions in an hour to head on into the ER. It seems pretty direct and from my 1st pregnancy I know I can be at 2 cm for a LONG time, however she seemed pretty sure that I'll be meeting my little boy soon. My question is this: what am I looking for with contractions?
