Contractions before real labor

Common Questions and Answers about Contractions before real labor

contractions

Avatar f tn If you get there soon enough if you really ARE in labor, they can stop it before any serious changes happen in your cervix. The longer you wait the more that's gunna happen to your cervix and you don't wanna wait and have it be too late and have to have a preterm baby!
Avatar f tn I drank some water and went to bed and have been Fine since....were these real contractions?

They are 22 minutes apart and last about 6 min each... I know im not at 5 min apart yet.. but could this be the real deal?? My doctor said she wouldnt be surprised if I had him sooner than my due date (dec 28th) bc of his size and how ive progressed...
Avatar f tn do real contractions come on soft and light and not painful and slowly get stronger and more painful.
Avatar f tn I also get front contractions along with the back contractions or a few mins apart from them. Is this real labor contractions? BH never felt like this so im thinking they are. Any experience?
14658184 tn?1435719599 I'm 37 weeks, and 6 days, I wanted to know when can I be sure I'm in real labor ???
Avatar f tn Real labor is when the contractions get stronger and closer together. What they use to tell me is take some benadrel, it wont stop labor but it will stop the braxton hicks.
Avatar f tn How do I know if im having real contractions? I went to the doctor this morning and everything was fine.but about an hour later I was in the store and I felt this popping feeling in my vagina and then it was followed by a horrible constant pain. After it went away I started walking again and I got another sharp pain and I did that at least 7 times and I was in tears because it hurt so bad.
2424510 tn?1349961575 Ok so I posted on here about having a shot to stop contractions anybody else experience this and everything came out fine?
Avatar n tn If you can't time them and they are spiratic then they may be contractions but not full blown labor contractions. And if they only come at night then they don't sound like true contractions. Try to drink some water and lay on your left side when you feel them. If it goes away you could just be dehydrated. But if they keep up for more then an Hr.
Avatar f tn It wont matter what position you are in when you are in labor. Your contractions will be there! But, labor might be close. I remember getting BH like 4 days before i went in labor.
Avatar f tn My doctor said that the way to tell if its labor or braxton Hicks is to lay down, drink water and time them. If they get stronger, they're real labor pains. Other oncoming signs of labor is a weight loss of 1-3 pounds, lots of soft bowel movements, baby moving less often and loosing fluids (waters breaking)! Good luck and keep us posted!
Avatar f tn Your irregular contractions are real but you are not in active labor yet. These contractions are getting your body ready and helping you dilate. They can go from irregular to regular tho. So just time them. From the start of a contraction to the start of the next one. Not start to end. Hope that helps!
4235497 tn?1356982472 How did you mommies feel before you went into labor?
5110781 tn?1378361950 Maybe your in labor. Some women have diarrhea days before labor because the body is wanting to clean itself out before delivery. How close are they and are they getting stronger?
7913021 tn?1418048620 When you start having contractions, can that mean you will go into labor soon or within a couple weeks? I'm 34 weeks, 35 Monday & I have been having what they called 'mild' contractions for the last week.. can I expect to go into real labor soon or no?
Avatar n tn I had the WORST False Labor Contractions ever last night. I thought it was the real thing because my stomach was very hard & it felt like my baby was curled up in a ball. I woke up out of my sleep in pain, had to Vomit & felt very weak. I'm a first time mom & after being in pain like I was last night i'm afraid to see how the real ones feel. I'm 39 weeks as of today. Has anyone experienced false labor contractions & gotten mad because they wasn't the real thing?
Avatar n tn Braxton hicks contractions don't hurt. Real labor contractions feel nothing like BH as they tend to start off more like menstrual cramps which is tolerable in the beginning. I also agree that a fever isn't cause for going to the hospital unless ur unable to control it with Tylenol. Otherwise, just monitor ur symptoms, if ur contractions get stronger and closer together and last longer over timeand get more painful, then ur probably in labor and should call ur Dr to ask their advice.
9067885 tn?1415002692 How did you mamas feel right before labor? I've been having around two contractions an hour but my water is still intact, I am not dialated, and he hasn't dropped.I had my dialation checked two nights ago so that might've changed.
7882296 tn?1405391067 How long can you have contractions before your water breaks? I've been feeling pressure really low in pelvis and back with contractions every once in a while since last night. I don't want to go to the hospital without my water breaking though. Should i wait for my doctor appointment tomorrow?
6263610 tn?1379907140 It could be bh or real labor only way to be sure is call doctor or go to hospital better safe then sorry
Avatar f tn a call. If it is real labor, at 36 weeks, your Dr. may choose to try to stop it (NOT because anything would be wrong at all with your little one, just most Dr's prefer at least 37 weeks if possible). Labor is a bit different for everyone, so don't be embarrassed to call your Dr. or head in for a check if you need to.
Avatar f tn I did get an epidural about 11 hours into my 27 hour labor, but I had contractions long before I was induced. It just felt like a tightening up until the last hour before I could push when the epidural wasn't covering them anymore.
