Common Questions and Answers about Constant complaining in the elderly

complaining

Avatar m tn Dementia can cause screaming in the elderly. They scream out of frustration of not being able to verbalize what they are feeling.....cold, hungry, etc. Make the prescribing doctor aware of this behavior and he/she will know what needs to be done.
Avatar n tn My son is 9 years old and he has been complaining of pain in his mouth when I looked inside his mouth he has big white dots all over his tongue and both sides of his mouth/cheeks. Could someone tell me what could be wrong or should I take him to the doctor to be checked out. What could it be?
Avatar m tn My 19 year old cat is driving my husband crazy. He (the cat) meows all day long. If we hold him and pet him he's ok for awhile. We give him his medicine (kidney problems) and a heated bed pad. That has helped in the past. But today-no. Our vet did say he had "dementia" Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks to all.
Avatar n tn I hate to offer a suggestion about medication without having seen the skin of this patient because it may make quite a difference in the recommendation. There are topical agents you can buy over the counter that may help alleviate this, such as calamine lotion or topical benadryl. But he may need topical steroids or prescription strength medications instead if these fail.
Avatar f tn He offered help me to sweep the floor/yard. Hanging and picking up the clothes. He also concentrated on the weather make sure he picked up the clothes before it rained. He'll miss if he slept all the day long! LOL. He liked sleep (usually longer hour than us). He said to me, when getting old all the bones shrink, so can feel the body aching. He said exercise is important. Even he was on the bed, he also moving his toes and fingers a lot.
Avatar n tn This can be due to heart block, arterio-venous malformation, aortic dissection, raised intracranial pressure, severe anemia etc. Please rush the elderly to an emergency care. An intravenous line should be started meanwhile. Take care!
Avatar n tn My 80 year old mother got a quad triple bypass in 2001. She's complaining about chronic and severe fatigue. She's under regular care, but doctor doesn't seem to think the fatigue is a problem. Worried she needs stents or a "redo" of bypass. How long do these bypass last. Is it true that leg veins (used for replacement) are not as lasting as original veins? How would they test for the integrity of bypass in place now? What's involve.
541196 tn?1293552936 t stressed enough about having to pay for it, I got a bill yesterday from the hospital for the thyroid sonogram (which by the way came back completely normal) for $600. This blows. I just don't want to spend this kindof money on these things. I like to hord my money and spend it on fun things. LOL.
Avatar f tn I feel exactly the same way you do.. I'm 37+2. I don't want to do anything but lay in bed. All the pains are horrible. I couldn't walk the other day due to back pain. I want her out but then I think the longer she's in there the healthier shell be. I have a 4 yr old son and I'm at a pizza arcade place right now but ugh I have no energy. LOL. Not to much longer.

Avatar f tn Hello, so a few months ago I noticed I had these flashes in my eye sight. I looked it up and heard about retinal detachment and went to the eye doctor to get proper care. They said my eyes looked pretty good for being near sighted. I used to have an occasional floater, and now it seems I never don't see one. It seems as though there is a build up because when I look up 5 or 6 float up into my eye sight and it really scares and bugs me.
Avatar m tn t go now his body will force him to go eventually and it may be too late. By nipping things in the bud we can prevent any serious problems in the future. You should also get him on probiotics either a supplement or yogurt enriched with it. We are more apt to develop polyps after the age of 50 and that's why they suggest we start having colonoscopies at age 50.
Avatar n tn Are the blood blisters in the arms and legs of some elderly a vitamin or mineral deficiency? If so, what will help? This discussion is related to blood blisters.
4928337 tn?1362751166 She was so aggravated she was not the center of attention she went to the hospital. Texted me all these ridiculouse things she was being treated for. Heart condition. Low oxygen ex ex could go on an on. Well turns out this was all false. She has been out day an a half and is still wearing the hospital bracelet's. As if her constant complaining of having my symptoms all the time was not enough. I suggested she see a shrink. This did not go over well with my husband lol.

161427 tn?1229911282 I would like to do a short experiment by taking my mother-in-law off Plavix for a few days while she is in her normal living conditions at the nursing home. However, I have not seen dementia listed in any materials related to Plavix, so no one caring for my mother-in-law takes this idea seriously. Does anyone have any experience with this situation? Could it be dangerous to take her off the Plavix for a few days? Are there any substitutes for Plavix that might work better?

427279 tn?1210919821 My legs were numb and my back was killing me, so I decided that it would be easier to sit on the floor in front of the machines to load the washer. Everything went pretty good until it came time for me to get up. I could not. My legs did not want to work with me. After getting mad. I thought about my baby on my bed and I knew that I had to get up. I could not leave him there until someone came home 4 hours later. I thought of the show Lassie and began hollering for my dog Diamond.
