Avatar f tn I had a metal iron shelf fall on my head at work 4 months ago, got a concussion and ended up with post traumatic concussion syndrome. He needs to go to the doctor!!!!! He needs to have a CT or MRI to check for headbleeding then he needs to see a neurologist and let them run test!!!!! It's so important. They told me if I hit my head again I'll have permanent damage.

Avatar f tn Yesterday I suffered mild blow to the head. I have hit my head many times before, much harder than yesterday and yet, I've never experienced any symptoms that might be indicative of concussion. Yesterday, however, I felt a bit dizzy for a few minutes immediately after having been hit. Also, 15 minutes following the blow, I started to feel a bit nauseated.

Avatar m tn t remember the medical term for it) were athletes who took many shots to the head over many years and played while they had the concussion/still had concussion symptoms. AND before we knew about the seriousness of injuries to the brain. There is a reason why in sports today that people need to pass concussion protocol tests before they are allowed to return to activity. I suppose I'm trying to relate this to sports as you talked about boxing.

Avatar n tn I suggest you ask around in the boderline personality disorder forum (http://www.medhelp.org/forums/Borderline-Personality-Disorder/show/210). This is the forum on bipolar disorder, which is a mood disorder, not a personality disorder. Other than that, I would suggest talking to his doctor about your concerns to see if they have any suggestions. And be patient! Mental health issues are just like any other health issues--they don't get better overnight.
Avatar f tn My daughter is 17. She has a number of health conditions: Bipolar, PTSD, asthma, and migraines. She also suffered a severe concussion 2 years ago. It took months for her to be able to pass the concussion test. In August, she started vomiting daily, up to 7 times a day. Her pcp tried some medicine and referred her to a GI specialist. She was down to 104 lbs (5'3") from 112. An upper GI suggested possible SMA. (She had no pain at all) They were going to scope and place an NG tube.
Avatar m tn He got a mild concussion in football and was out of the game for 2 weeks (this really made him nervous as his cousin had a severe concussion with lasting brain damage), soon after he healed from the concussion he got swine flu and was out of school the better part of two weeks, shortly after a return to health he got Mono and strep throat (he wasn't fatigued, but had a severe sore throat, pains, and difficulty swallowing). Now he gets scared at school.
563594 tn?1309583132 hi guys. okay, most of you already know that I was addicted to norco(10mgvicodin) for about 4 years. Now I've gone to see my PCP and he has now give me 2mg of xanax a day and 10mg of lexapro. He also wants to send me to see a mental health specialist, BIG problem with that is, I don't have mental health coverage. My biggest question is, to those of you that have been clean..for even say a couple months..do you believe this is necessary?!

Avatar m tn I'm in highschool and during soccer i got a concussion, the doctors said my brain was fine in a cat scan but ever since I have had chronic migraines and headaches for a year now. I saw a neurologist and am on amitriptyline and zolmitriptan. It has reduced my headaches from everyday to four times a week and my migraines from twice a week to once a month. i found that also pushing myself through physical exercise helps too. I still cannot attend school though and am homeschooled as a result.
Avatar f tn A few questions come to mind to help you through this process: 1) Do you have access to the car to look at the dashboard in front of where you were sitting. You might be able to ID any indentations. 2) Have you been seen by any medical professional? 3) Was this a reportable accident and any police report? 4) Does the Driver of either vehicle have insurance? You should go immediately to a nearby ER and be examined by a Doctor and have any test or imaging they recommend.
Avatar f tn He broke his collar bone, had a concussion, an internal intestinal injury and a small pelvic fracture. Since then my son has suffered with chronic nausea, occasional dizzy spells, he is unable to eat consistently and lost weight (going from 159 lbs in October to 138 lbs in March). In addition to the physical issues ....he now suffers with angry outbursts, unable to go to school during those times when he feels most sick although he generally feels sick every day.
Avatar f tn Hi I am sixteen and was just diagnosed with chiari after receiving a concussion. After lifting a chair, I started shaking all throughout my body and it became hard to walk. It's almost three days since that happened and my hands are still shaking. This has happened once before but went away that day. Im not sure as to what this means and I can't tell if it is anxiety or chiari progression. Advice would be appreciated greatly!
Avatar n tn t be a problem with Prozac, but as CJ said, it can be stimulating to some people, so be careful, but it is true with the Ativan. And to have post concussion syndrome, you have to first have a concussion. Be careful out there!

Avatar n tn About 6 months ago I got a concussion after fainting and hitting my head. They did a CT that came back ok. Over the next few weeks I experienced major nausea and a sensation of weakness. I had other symptoms like trouble focusing and reading and light sensitivity, but those went away after about a month. I ended up getting an MRI which came back normal and was told that I had post concussive syndrome.
