Common Questions and Answers about Concussion vertigo

concussion

Avatar f tn I received all of these from sports and have since pulled myself from such dangerous situations but I fear I am still dealing with the after effects of my reckless youth. After my last concussion I had extremely bad vertigo, memory loss, and headaches. They got so bad I had to get a Cat Scan because they thought my brain might be bleeding, thank god it was negative. Well I recently got in a car accident and have no clue if I did hit my head or not.
Avatar f tn does a hit in the head followed by nausea, vertigo headache and diarrhea after 24 hours need to be examined and how serious it can be?
Avatar f tn A little over 3 months ago I got up in the night to go to the bathroom and (we aren't sure if I fainted or felt and knocked myself out) but I hit the dresser and was unconscious for a while. I actually woke up back in in bed without knowing how I got back in bed and the room was spinning wildly. I was sweating, sick, nauseous, throwing up and couldn't walk. I finally made it to the bathroom and could see I had dried blood under my nose.
Avatar n tn No, my doctor just said I had a concussion, there was no tests for it. And I had a CAT scan in November because of a seizure but everything came up clear, but I haven't had a scan since my fall.
4403156 tn?1354189853 at times, like there was water in my ear, but there was no fluid in my ear. Exercise, even taking a walk, made me feel sick. I also experienced some vertigo. I went to vestibular rehab in June/July, which cleared up the vertigo-like episodes for the most part, but the treatment itself, including the 20 days of at-home exercises made me feel very sick. Everything else remained the same. I was or escribed serk during this time, which didn't help.
Avatar n tn On day-1, I had a mild headache and some lightheadedness. On day-2, for a few hours the headache and lightheadedness (not vertigo) continued. I also had some numbness of Lt leg and weakness of Rt. hand for few hours that spontaneously resolved. After 28 hours, I was completely symptom free. Due to insurance issues and also since at that time I did not feel that my injury was serious, I did not get a formal evaluation or a CT scan done.
Avatar m tn I have had benign positional vertigo for 3 1/2 years since a fall and concussion including unconsciousness and mild cervical spine damage in that if I bend my head forward down two disks touch and there is some increased pain in arms/hands but no serious compression of the spinal cord.
Avatar n tn About 6 months ago I got a concussion after fainting and hitting my head. They did a CT that came back ok. Over the next few weeks I experienced major nausea and a sensation of weakness. I had other symptoms like trouble focusing and reading and light sensitivity, but those went away after about a month. I ended up getting an MRI which came back normal and was told that I had post concussive syndrome.
Avatar f tn I have severe swelling, got an internal stitch and three external -- but the doctor (who I was later informed was extremely rude) said I didnt have a concussion because I was awake, even though I have absolutely no recollection of any of the events. I couldn't walk, started throwing up, and when we left he said I should probably just go take some ibuprofen and have another drink to ease the pain.
Avatar m tn My migraines are now under much better control through medication, but the dizziness remains. I did not suffer a concussion during the accident, and my symptoms did not occur until around 4 months afterward. At this point, I’m considering whether the muscles and joints in my neck were injured in the accident, causing trigger points to form which have simply not be dealt with properly since that time.
Avatar f tn My fiance has been battling "vertigo" for almost a year now; we have been told it isn't vertigo because things do not spin for him. Anyway, he gets lightheaded and feels like something is pulling him to the ground, frequent headaches, ringing in the ears.

Avatar f tn My doctor doesn't seem to think my health is her problem so I'm going to turn to you guys & get your opinion. I was in a car accident where I hit someone head on (their fault, don't judge!) going about 30-40mph on June 1st. I didn't hit my head but somehow got a nasty concussion (my second one). Recovery was rough but I finally felt okay enough to work again (about 2 mos. later). Soon, my symptoms started to come back, one of which was even worse than before: my dizziness.
Avatar n tn I have had no less than 4 major hits to my head through accidents and a husband. When your head gets jolted, often your brain "bangs" against the skull. It causes you to feel sick to your stomach, get dizzy easily, and forget your train of thought. They used to call this a "concussion". Now they don't like to use that term. The last few times the doctor used a different term, like mild trauma to the head of something.
1100598 tn?1413127426 one every month or so with the aura, which was treated with Imitrex. After a concussion last summer, I started getting them almost daily, where I would get blurry vision, tremors in my hands, nausea, difficulty speaking, pain in the left temple, and falling. My doctor started me on Topamax, 100mg, which has helped with the symptoms, although I still fall occassionally. She was able to rule out epilepsy. I was wondering if anyone else has these symptoms when they have a migraine?
Avatar m tn I fainted in the bathroom on the morning after a party. I banged my head in the toilet holder, hitting above the left eye. (10 stiches) I got up and fainted again and hit the wall with the back of my head about 10 cm above the floor. This I can't remember, was away for about a minute. I walked slowly around and took pictures, feeling the earlier mentioned sympthoms very strong the next days as I got no information. Now: VERY slow progress since christmas.
Avatar f tn ve been suffering from constant vertigo, and about all I have to show for it is that it is called vertigo. I remember the onset very clearly, it was labor day weekend of 2006, my first semester away at college, and I was climbing into bed when I felt a wave of dizziness hit me. Thinking, as sometimes has happened in the past, that I simply moved too quickly, I expected it to dissipate. However, even as I laid down, it didn't get any better.
Avatar m tn One of the symptoms that made me go to doctor in the first place was a vertigo type symptom, dizziness and brain fog. I am wondering if another issue I have is related and would also be caused by my thyroid. About nine months ago I was sparring (martial arts) and got kicked in the face. It wasn't hard, but enough to knock my head back a bit, but certainly not enough to knock me out. After a few seconds I started getting blurred vision and then a flash of images began passing before me.
Avatar n tn Hello, a couple months ago i got hit on the head with a metal pole when helping somebody move.. I was fine for a week after.. then started to experience vertigo and dizziness when i sit up from laying down in bed.. went to a hospital got a catscan and the doc said she thinks its a mild concussion.. now 4 months later after i sit up from laying down im feeling dizzy, not as bad as before but still feeling the dizziness for about 15 seconds...
Avatar m tn I suffered whiplash, torn rotator cuff. It had to be operated on. I had a concussion. I suffered 2 protruding discs in my neck, and two herniated discs in m y lower back. This was 3.5 years ago. I still suffer being dizzy, I fall down frequently losing my balance. I do walk with a cane. I have 4 of the best doctors in the country treating me at UPMC Pittsburgh. First the concussion specialist sent me to all kinds of therapy. This helped a little. I was having cognitive problems.
Avatar f tn ve had for 3 yrs that rendered me unconscious once resulting in a major concussion (with lingering effects still) and 3 staples in my head. Those dizzy spells are more frequent and prominent than before and include severe pain and heaviness in limbs and severe hot flash (body temp rises noticibky) and ringing in ears while all other sounds seem far away. It usually subsides after a cpl mins with immediately sitting. They're brought on with the use/tension of my shoulder muscles.
Avatar f tn I was told the vision issues and the vertigo may have been untreated symptoms of post concussion syndrome, as I have had a few pretty bad concussions over the years.
