Common Questions and Answers about Concussion uneven pupils

8506420 tn?1398432580 Your kitten obviously has a brain injury. A concussion would NOT cause unequal pupils. The unequal pupils are not a good sign. I am glad that your cat is acting normally, but after some time the cat can show more symptoms. That is what can happen with a head injury. Please take your kitten to the vet as soon as possible. Your vet needs to examine the cat and can give a steroid medication to cut down on brain swelling.
Avatar f tn A few hours ago, I tripped and fell on uneven concrete. My knees and hands hit the ground, and my head whipped forward and my chin hit the concrete pretty hard. My chin didn't get cut, but there is a bump on it now. I don't think I have any other symptoms, except I have a upset stomach (probably unrelated). Right away I got up and was a bit shaken up and embarrassed.
Avatar f tn I have had uneven pupils for years now.... I have been to Neurologists and Optomologists .. both have agreed that there is nothing wrong. I have had an MRI and everything was good... My optomologist explained to me that I had a lot of air in my eye sockets and that i am susceptible to Migrain... I need to get 2nd and 3rd opinions as I am now getting frequent headaches and always have eye pain.. I can only explain this as feeling tired all the time..
Avatar m tn She presented at hospital with a terrible migraine and uneven pupils. Her right pupil was fully dilated and unresponsive to light. To cut a very long story short, they cleared her of tumors and bleeds etc and on performing a lumbar puncture, they determined the pressure in her spinal fluid was extremely high. She was recommended to have a spinal shunt installed to help reduce the pressure and she agreed.
Avatar m tn When my pupils are uneven the larger pupil is usually no bigger than 1mm from the smaller one, but it is on and off throughout the day. My thought of Physiological anisocoria was that it stays consistently that size and is visible at any moment of the day. when I look at mine sometimes they are even, sometimes they are not, and sometimes one expands right in front of my eyes. Thanks again JC Hagan!
400067 tn?1201358094 I have recently been loading back up on Effexor XR and noticed that my pupils are uneven....maybe by 20% - 30% dependent on the lighting situation...has anyone else encountered this problem? This is not the first time this has happened to me and it seems to remedy itself...I mostly want to know I am not alone and therefore am not in need of immediate medical help.
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with a mild concussion a little under a week ago. i am scheduled to have a full optometry exam (dilation of the pupils) done tomorrow. Is it ok to still have that exam done?
Avatar n tn I went to the Doctor for pink eye and he noticed uneven pupils. I have a yearly exam and no one has ever noticed this before. My pupils are even when constricted but not dilated. What could this mean?
Avatar f tn Two months if far too long with ongoing problems and changing symptoms, to wait. Uneven pupils, any vision changes, coupled with headaches are a medical emergency. Please insist that someone see you!
Avatar f tn My pupils often appear unequal in size. I'm now thinking the problem is with the smaller pupil (left eye). In bright light they usually appear small and more equal in size. The difference appears dramatic in photos taken with flash in dim light. I first became aware of the problem about 3 years ago, 6 months after leaving an abusive relationship. I wondered if being hit or kicked in the head could cause this.
Avatar n tn I went to my OD today due to uneven pupils. They are not constantly uneven, but it is always the same pupil that is smaller when it happens. OD diagnosed me with Horner's Syndrome, but she said that I only have a mild case because I have no other symptoms other than the pupil. (i don't have issues with lack of flushing/sweating on that side and my eyelid is not drooping). She asked me if I had injured my neck or had neck surgery, which I had not.
Avatar m tn Is the diagnosis similar between a concussion and intoxication? If so, in what ways? i.e., with the pupils, when doctor shines light in eyes, motor skills, etc. In what ways are they different? What if you have/are both at the same time? Can they be possibly confused or synonymous?
Avatar m tn My question comes on behalf of my younger brother, who recently sustained a head injury that was thought to be a concussion, though no official diagnosis was sought. About a week has passed since the incident and he has started to complain about minor headaches, a symptom that had him sent to his school nurse yesterday, who noticed a disparity in the size of his pupils as the right one was slightly larger than the left.
Avatar n tn Take her to a vet. It could be a sign of concussion.
Avatar m tn I found this facinating so decided to have a good look at my own using the bathroom mirror one night (about a week ago), and this was how i first noticed the difference, if it wasnt for this I am sure I would not have noticed (and hence I have no idea if my eyes have been like this for 2 weeks, or 20 years). In bright light, there is no difference between my two pupils. I have no other symptoms (no headache etc.) I was wondering do you think I should be concerned and if you had any advice.
Avatar n tn Yes it does sound like a concussion. I would see your doctor right away or go to the ER to make sure there is no serious damage. They will probably do a CT scan or MRI.
Avatar f tn I went in to see my retina specialist as suggested by Dr. O, for seeing floaters. My retina specialist didn't dilate my eyes to check for any tear but he was very concern about my pupil size. He noticed the right one is slightly more dilating than the left one. He called the neuro-opthalmologist for a brief consultation.
Avatar n tn My son has just turned 11. He has always had uneven dialtion of the pupils. The doctors locally has said not to be worried about it. To me it is more noticeable now. I received his school pictures today and its very noticeable in the photo. Do i need to have this checked out by a eye doctor?
Avatar f tn It is possible that you did suffer a slight concussion, but I do not think you need to run out and go to a doctor. I would just take some basic over the counter pain meds for a couple of days and you should be fine. Now if you are feeling dizzy or notice that your pupils are 2 different sizes GO to a doctor. Also if you are just plain scared then by all means go see one.
Avatar m tn My daughters pupils would look uneven and I took her in and realized that when I was looking at her in bathroom the mirror was reflecting more light on that eye making it slightly larger.
