Avatar m tn I'm in highschool and during soccer i got a concussion, the doctors said my brain was fine in a cat scan but ever since I have had chronic migraines and headaches for a year now. I saw a neurologist and am on amitriptyline and zolmitriptan. It has reduced my headaches from everyday to four times a week and my migraines from twice a week to once a month. i found that also pushing myself through physical exercise helps too. I still cannot attend school though and am homeschooled as a result.
Avatar m tn I am a young 70 yo female with a history of concussion 2015. Having feeling of pressure in occipital area of my head for approx. 6 months. This occurs when I lay on my back or rest my head in the recliner putting pressure in that area and often interferes with sleep. I have no history of elevated B/P or migraines. Recent MRI without contrast revealed SVD with several punctate areas in the periventricular and subcortical white matter. My GP seems to think this is a normal progression for my age.

Avatar m tn I have suffered from 2 concussions. My first one happened tubing behind a boat in summer 2011. Fell off the tube and immediately felt dizzy, almost as if it took me a few seconds to regain myself. I had never felt that feeling before, but assumed the jolt my head took when it hit the water that I had suffered a concussion. I didn't begin to feel that "pressure headache" until a couple of hours later that afternoon.
251315 tn?1198196557 i Went to a neurologist and he dignosed me with Post concussion syndrom. i hit my head pretty good, 1 the whip lash (i cant remember if i hit it on anything in my car) but as i was exiting to see what he did i smacked it on the metal bar getting out and then when the paramedic arrived i was laying in my car as they got me out the car he was holding my neck up right and i smacked it again on the metal bar getting out the car again.
Avatar f tn Went to family doctor and he said the concussion has worsened because I need to rest. Brain Rest is what he said. I am finding it hard to listen. Because I have good moments, then I over do it and I get slammed.
163305 tn?1333668571 Many doctors think the best treatment for fibromyalgia is thyroid replacement hormones, since fibromyalgia was not even a condition until the mid 1980's when it was decided that TSH would be the "gold standard" for thyroid testing and because the range was too wide, many people who had previously been diagnosed with hypothyroidism, were now left with no diagnosis...
Avatar f tn Usually, such headaches and dizziness may result due to post-concussion syndrome and may last for weeks or months after the injury that caused from the injury of a fall, vehicle accident, or sports injury. In addition, patient may experience either migraine type or tension type headache. For treatment approach, first it is essential to get (MRI) done to detect the brain abnormalities after that injury.
Avatar m tn To whom it may concern, I am currently living in Antwerp and, three nights ago, while having fun with my friends, I got very drunk, lost balance and banged my head against a wall. I didn't lose conscienciousness, although my memories of the event are blurry, probably more due to alcohol, although it could have been a mixture of both. The next morning I woke up with an awful hangover and just stayed resting at home.
Avatar f tn Hello my 11 year old son suffered a gr.2 concussion during a hockey game. He had a MRI which showed the brain was fine but after 3 months he still hasn't gone one day without getting a headache. He is itching to run around and play. Can he run, jump, ride a bike even if he is still getting headaches or should he do no physical activity even after 3 months? We're trying physio. now to see of it helps.
Avatar m tn There is no treatment. Do not rest all the time even if you want to, to rest all day is bad for you. It's good in the acute phase, but not now (is this true?). To be active is good, but don't overdo it. It takes up to three years to recover fully. You will recover fully. They haven't mentioned PCS. The concussion: I fainted in the bathroom on the morning after a party. I banged my head in the toilet holder, hitting above the left eye.
Avatar m tn I hit my head on the ice about 12 hours ago. ER said concussion. I have not had any of the symptoms the ER said I should return for but where the lump was there is now a soft spot. Should I return?
Avatar n tn I have had patients with this condition. However, there is no specific treatment for post-concussion syndrome. Management usually is directed at individual symptoms. Avatar n tn Time will tell (usually by puberty) whether there is a problem as growth of the nasal bones and septum result in either a cosmetic or a functional problem. If so, treatment would be more appropriate at that time. Any surgical treatment now might affect growth centers that could condemn her to more problems later.
Avatar f tn Hi, The symptoms that your husband describes may be those of Post Concussion Syndrome. Post-concussion syndrome, is a set of symptoms that a person may experience for weeks, months, or occasionally years after a concussion, a mild form of traumatic brain injury. Symptoms may include headache, difficulty concentrating, irritability etc.
Avatar f tn If there is no structural brain damage, only the symptoms warrant medical treatment. Check with your doctor for proper evaluation. Treatment for postconcussion syndrome is based on the severity of the symptoms. Rest and close observation are important.Take care and do keep us posted.

Avatar n tn I fell backwards 1 month ago, suffered a concussion, and have lost my sense of taste and smell. I have learned that this is caused by nerve damage. I am also lightheaded and my ears are somewhat plugged(ear pressure). I was wondering how long a nerve takes to heal itself, or does it? Is the dizziness a result of the injury or a seperate issue?
Avatar f tn After suffering a concussion April 17, 2008 I lost my sense of smell and taste. I was pushed off a 3 foot wall and knocked out for over a minute. I have had a CT scan and an MRI which show nothing wrong. But I still cannot smell or taste anything. Any suggestions?

I have hit my head many times before, much harder than yesterday and yet, I've never experienced any symptoms that might be indicative of concussion. Yesterday, however, I felt a bit dizzy for a few minutes immediately after having been hit. Also, 15 minutes following the blow, I started to feel a bit nauseated.

Avatar f tn Hi, Thank you for your question. After such head impact such kind of neurological symptoms are common due to extent of damaged part of brain and may remain symptomatic or progress in future. Although any sure success cure can not be assured in such cases, but symptomatic relief or it may decrease with period of time, physiotherapy, avoiding any triggering factors and life style modification help you in certain extent.
