Avatar m tn No RVR but EVR which is quite the difference in treatment duration. I feel I will never make another 36 weeks of this hell. Depression is terrible, started Wellbutrin last week, not sure if it has helped yet. Have had quite the rash but find psycological sides harder than physical As I could have been only a week or 2 from RVR arm of study (tx 24 weeks) I am questioning adding a extra 24 weeks SOC treatment. No testing between week 4 and 8.
163305 tn?1333668571 Many doctors think the best treatment for fibromyalgia is thyroid replacement hormones, since fibromyalgia was not even a condition until the mid 1980's when it was decided that TSH would be the "gold standard" for thyroid testing and because the range was too wide, many people who had previously been diagnosed with hypothyroidism, were now left with no diagnosis...
Avatar f tn Usually, such headaches and dizziness may result due to post-concussion syndrome and may last for weeks or months after the injury that caused from the injury of a fall, vehicle accident, or sports injury. In addition, patient may experience either migraine type or tension type headache. For treatment approach, first it is essential to get (MRI) done to detect the brain abnormalities after that injury.

Especially note the second section called "What about Slow Responders?" I got this link from zazza when I was in week 4, and told I had a 2 log drop. Had it not been for her, I don't think my Dr. would have told me I was a slow responder(thank you zazza!
Avatar m tn In conclusion, the authors wrote, “Variable treatment duration ensures SVR rates similar to those of standard treatment duration, sparing unnecessary side effects and costs.” http://www.hivandhepatitis.com/hep_c/news/2008/010407_a.
Avatar n tn I have had patients with this condition. However, there is no specific treatment for post-concussion syndrome. Management usually is directed at individual symptoms. This is why it is recommended that you have regular follow-ups for proper management of your symptoms. Take care and best regards.
Avatar f tn Hi, The symptoms that your husband describes may be those of Post Concussion Syndrome. Post-concussion syndrome, is a set of symptoms that a person may experience for weeks, months, or occasionally years after a concussion, a mild form of traumatic brain injury. Symptoms may include headache, difficulty concentrating, irritability etc.
Avatar n tn I fell backwards 1 month ago, suffered a concussion, and have lost my sense of taste and smell. I have learned that this is caused by nerve damage. I am also lightheaded and my ears are somewhat plugged(ear pressure). I was wondering how long a nerve takes to heal itself, or does it? Is the dizziness a result of the injury or a seperate issue?
Avatar m tn This condition is a complex disorder in which a combination of post-concussion symptoms like headaches, tinnitus and dizziness are experienced. There are no specific treatment for post-concussion syndrome but treatment for the individual symptoms you experience is made by your doctor. Regular follow-up with your doctor is highly recommended. Take care and regards.
Avatar m tn I'm in highschool and during soccer i got a concussion, the doctors said my brain was fine in a cat scan but ever since I have had chronic migraines and headaches for a year now. I saw a neurologist and am on amitriptyline and zolmitriptan. It has reduced my headaches from everyday to four times a week and my migraines from twice a week to once a month. i found that also pushing myself through physical exercise helps too. I still cannot attend school though and am homeschooled as a result.

Avatar f tn Hi, Thank you for your question. After such head impact such kind of neurological symptoms are common due to extent of damaged part of brain and may remain symptomatic or progress in future. Although any sure success cure can not be assured in such cases, but symptomatic relief or it may decrease with period of time, physiotherapy, avoiding any triggering factors and life style modification help you in certain extent.

Avatar f tn It is abundantly clear that in some cases concussions may result in seizures. That is not a "theory". It is a medical fact. It doesn't require "discussion". But not all concussions result in a seizure. There can be varying degrees of damage depending on the severity off the blow, where the impact takes place, and from resultant swelling, and if there is a delay in seeking medical attention. A "concussion" is not a "concussion".
Avatar n tn Your symptoms could be due to migraine or PCS ( post concussion syndrome ) because of the concussion that you had years ago. Please go for an MRI brain to know the exact cause and consult a neurologist for treatment as a delay could be dangerous. There are chances of getting a stroke. Hope this helps you. Take care and regards !
Avatar f tn t done anything like that since, until I got the concussion and a few months into the treatment etc I started cutting again and feeling suicidal. I didn't tell anyone at first because I was worried about my work finding out. Could this all be from the concussion?
Avatar m tn Back in the trials I believe Andiamo did 24 weeks or near to. He got to SVR. But I agree with what the others have said, 12 weeks is plenty.

Avatar m tn I recently was jumped by 4 guys and was slammed on my head (split my head open, concussion, and serious neck pain), people called 911 and was rushed to the ER where I had a CT-Scan and MRI on my head and neck and they said everything was fine but its been ~4 months since this has happend and every time I put my head down I get a crazy sensation of like my entire body is a, tuning fork when struck, the vibrations are intense, not painful.
Avatar f tn If the headache is due to post-concussion syndrome, then it is difficult to predict the duration for which it will persist. However, if the symptoms are due to drug withdrawal, then this may settle down in a few days. If there was a head injury, then headaches can also be due to pinched nerves in neck, TMJ, high blood pressure, or due to injury to scalp. Please discuss this with his treating doctor. Take care!
Avatar n tn Please consult a neurologist. The treatment is to remove the compression. You have to discuss the best treatment option with a neurologist, which can range from medication to physiotherapy to traction, cervical collars or even surgery. Alternatively you can visit a chiropractor or a physical therapist and learn some exercises which you can do to relieve the compression. Hope this helps. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage.
Avatar n tn I was hit from behind when playing ball hockey and I suffered a concussion after I went head first into the goalie. I had a cat scan done and it was normal immediately after the hit. Its been 11 months and everytime I try a light exercise for example walking around the block for about 20 minutes I get headaches. I used to swim, jog and play sports regularly and now since the accident I have gained a lot weight and don't know what to do to stay active.
Avatar f tn My friend recently got kicked in the head at a soccer game now whenever she moves her head the inside of her head hurts where she got kicked. Is this just a concussion or worse? She doesn't want to go to a doctor until after the season is over.
