I have had patients with this condition. However, there is no specific treatment for post-concussion syndrome. Management usually is directed at individual symptoms. This is why it is recommended that you have regular follow-ups for proper management of your symptoms. Take care and best regards.
Your symptoms could be due to migraine or PCS ( post concussion syndrome ) because of the concussion that you had years ago.Please go for an MRI brain to know the exact cause and consult a neurologist for treatment as a delay could be dangerous. This condition is a complex disorder in which a combination of post-concussion symptoms like headaches, tinnitus and dizziness are experienced. There are no specific treatment for post-concussion syndrome but treatment for the individual symptoms you experience is made by your doctor. Regular follow-up with your doctor is highly recommended. I'm in highschool and during soccer i got a concussion, the doctors said my brain was fine in a cat scan but ever since I have had chronic migraines and headaches for a year now. I saw a neurologist and am on amitriptyline and zolmitriptan. It has reduced my headaches from everyday to four times a week and my migraines from twice a week to once a month. i found that also pushing myself through physical exercise helps too. I still cannot attend school though and am homeschooled as a result.

I was hit from behind when playing ball hockey and I suffered a concussion after I went head first into the goalie. I had a cat scan done and it was normal immediately after the hit. Its been 11 months and everytime I try a light exercise for example walking around the block for about 20 minutes I get headaches. I used to swim, jog and play sports regularly and now since the accident I have gained a lot weight and don't know what to do to stay active.
Last Aug (09) I had a concussion/neck injury which left me with post concussion symptoms that subsided in Nov. The neck injury has been an ongoing problem with pain. With it has been the rocking sensation that is in sync with my heart beat. Had MRIs of head and neck (shows DDD bulging discs in neck, pinched nerve), Audiology exams (clear), Neurologist exam and Steroid Injs in neck.
Usually, such headaches and dizziness may result due to post-concussion syndrome and may last for weeks or months after the injury that caused from the injury of a fall, vehicle accident, or sports injury. In addition, patient may experience either migraine type or tension type headache. For treatment approach, first it is essential to get (MRI) done to detect the brain abnormalities after that injury.
Please consult a neurologist. The treatment is to remove the compression. You have to discuss the best treatment option with a neurologist, which can range from medication to physiotherapy to traction, cervical collars or even surgery. Alternatively you can visit a chiropractor or a physical therapist and learn some exercises which you can do to relieve the compression.

Does it sound like he needs to seek medical help for the concussion considering he never received any after-care and continued to drink on the concussion? I am currently living in Antwerp and, three nights ago, while having fun with my friends, I got very drunk, lost balance and banged my head against a wall. I didn't lose conscienciousness, although my memories of the event are blurry, probably more due to alcohol, although it could have been a mixture of both. The next morning I woke up with an awful hangover and just stayed resting at home.
About 5 months ago I slipped on ice and hit my head on pavement (front right temple). I had what I think may be considered as a mild concussion (loss of consciousness for 1 minute followed by heavy disorientation (amnesia?) for 7 minutes)
At that time I was very drunk and I am thinking this played a large role on why I even lost consciousness. (I am only an occasional drinker though)

I fell backwards 1 month ago,suffered a concussion, and have lost my sense of taste and smell. I have learned that this is caused by nerve damage. My experience was being taken to the ER, after several blows to the temple area of my head, where I was reported to have been Ox3 upon examination and denying a loss of conscientiousness. Yet I cannot remember the time in the ER until shortly before. This is highly perplexing to me. Can that happen?

So, I had a phone consult, my doctor sent me to the ER where they did a CT scan, no bleeding thank goodness, and diagnosed me with post concussion syndrome. After about a month and a half I went back to my doctor who told me he wanted me to see neurologist to make sure nothing else was going on. Throughout this time there has been a gradual, slow but steady improvement in the symptoms, but I am still having problems.
m sorry to hear what you have been through for the last few months. Treatment for post concussion is focused on the individual symptoms present since the severity and extent are unique to each person. While symptoms usually resolve after a several months, medications and other adjunctive therapies may also help. Prescription medications may help with headaches and associated symptoms.
