Common Questions and Answers about Concussion symptoms what to do

concussion

Avatar m tn If there are no new lesions and no enhancing lesions, what could be causing my current symptoms? I do take a low dose of Crestor, and have been on low dose of SSRI to help with recovery from TBI. Current symptoms are left hand intetion tremor, and muscle fasciculations in both calves....no weakness, no cogwheel rigidity, and no abnormal results from exam that I was informed of.
Avatar f tn I am not sure anyone will be able to answer accurately since a concussion is a jarring to the brain and what happens physically in/on the brain no one knows.
Avatar n tn thank you a lot,i have to do this,i know.I have to decide it.I ll let u know when im going and what happened with results.
Avatar f tn t need to worry about that. What you do need to do is taking all possible precautions against having another concussion, ever, because it sounds like the one you just had was pretty severe. If you are playing contact sports, or if you have dangerous hobbies, it might be time to reconsider that. But you can have all the sex you want. Even if an orgasm immediately after a concussion is inadvisable (and it probably is), two weeks is long enough to wait. You can stop feeling guilty.
Avatar m tn I had a mild Traumatic Brain Injury and severe concussion 1 year 8 months ago. Post Concussion Syndrome followed after that and that is what probably your cousin's doctor call it. I have several symptoms and the worst is dizziness, heavy headed and fatigue. Been to many therapies, meds and no help. Right now I am trying some PT for my neck which seems to be causing my dizziness. I don't know and no one knows including specialists. It is tough to diagnose dizziness.
Avatar f tn A concussion can last for weeks or maybe years after the head injury. The symptoms too vary from person to person. Headache, confusion, memory loss, dizziness, nausea vomiting, slurred speech and fatigue are common. Delayed symptoms include depression, irritability, sleep disturbances, seizures, loss of smell etc. A doctor generally looks for focal neurological or generalized neurological symptoms that would show there is a pressure on brain somewhere.
Avatar f tn Hello, Im almost 100% certain that it wouldnt be a concussion. Even though the back of the head is the worst spot you can get hit or fall on, you would still be having tremedous pain along with other symptoms like dizzyness, blurryness, tiredness. Im sure you just had a bit of a headache for awhile.
Avatar n tn I have a serious concussion and I have strained my trapiuses muscle... I also have osgood schlatters in one leg and I can't run with out getting dizzy due to the concussion... I really need to work out ... I have been out for a month ... Please and thank you !
Avatar m tn WHAT CAN I DO? Or what can I ask my doctor? How long should these symptoms go on for? Is there any surgery or alternative solutions that anyone can suggest and I can look in to them?
Avatar f tn t hurt, it seems to me, to find a neurologist who can test for post-concussion problems. Unfortunately, this isn't easy to diagnose or find and often takes years before it might show up on a diagnostic picture, but with all this going on, might be worth a try. Another problem, though, is, don't know if there's any cure for it. If he had childhood seizure disorder, how then can you be sure the wellbutrin caused the seizure?
Avatar f tn I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced severe light sensitivity this long after a concussion and what their diagnosis was or what they did to stop it.
Avatar f tn yeh all I know is the symptoms I have been having with the Chiari are much worse but worse on the left side (strange - cuz that is where I hit my head) although I know the symptoms on top of my chiari symptoms are from the concussion. I just hope it didn't make the herniation or anything related to it worse. I can't get in sooner to the specialist. The soonest I can (to coordinate my appts together) is on the 27th, so a few weeks away.
Avatar m tn A concussion is a specific syndrome secondary to a blow to the head. Impacts to the skull that produce a concussion can certainly cause death, if not quickly addressed in an appropriate medical facility. The cause of death is usually due to lack of oxygen to the brain secondary to swelling and the oclusion of the supply of blood and nutrients. To cut to the chase, just because you or your child has a concussion does not mean you are going to die.
Avatar n tn The tissue may have been damaged and is kind of like a permanent scar that will not progress any further. That being said though, what caused them to do an MRI to see this? Are you suffering from migraines or are there any symptoms that caused you to go to a doctor to have this checked? I'm an individual that has been suffering from severe head trauma for 33yrs now and I have seen progressive improvement.
Avatar f tn I was wondering if what I have is post concussion syndrome. On march 25 I had a dirtbike race and I crashed 4 times. Hit my head every time but didn't lose conciosness. I felt fine for the next 12 days then in class on april 7th I became very lightheaded and felt like I was gunna pass out. Then I began to have trouble sleeping having very weird thoughts as I layed down and had very weird dreams. And now I feel as if I'm in a dream or spaced out. My anxiety is preety bad now also.
Avatar f tn These are rather serious symptoms. I think it would be good for you to go to the doctor now too, even after this time. Take care!
Avatar m tn Neurologists most likely may give you some anti-depressants/head ache medicines which may help to relieve the symptoms but not a cure. You have to get all the tests done to rule out anything and besides that you have to rest. I am not really sure what normal is since each head injury is unique and many people has headaches and other symptoms and some will have totally different symptoms.
Avatar f tn I would have to agree with that theory. A seizure happens because your brain "miss fires" for some reason or another.
Avatar n tn Most people recover completely, particularly if postconcussion syndrome symptoms do not develop. Postconcussion syndrome symptoms are common during the week after brain injury. They often resolve during the second week. However, sometimes symptoms persist for months or, rarely, years. Your friend should consult a neurologist and undergo a MRI to see the effects of head injury. There could be inflammation of the brain tissue causing headache and nausea.
Avatar f tn I have noticed my symptoms do not seem to be going away with the exception I have has severe spins in a few weeks. It just gets tough to do things when you have problems seeing and your constantly off balance.
Avatar f tn I can barly sleep, my ears ring randomly, i have the worst headach and im dizzy and feel like i need to get sick. What does this mean and what should I do ??? #HELP!
